Might be a very good Championship one though? In which case, what would his price be?Top Claret wrote: ↑Sun Jul 11, 2021 12:35 pmThink it would be good buisness for us to get 650k for Benson, from what I have seen of him he is miles of being a premier league player
I’d loan him & see how he gets on.

Like Tony said above make sure the deal comes with a decent sell on clause in case he comes good, but I personally have seen nothing from him that suggests he will

Doesn’t matter about my grammar I’m not on this forum competing for grammar awards, he’s early 20s there’s no escaping the fact at his current level he wasn’t deemed good enough for Manchester United wanting his signature, like I’ve already stated that’s not to say 3/4 years ect down the line he won’t be good enough, we do have a reputation for improving players whilst at the club, it wouldn’t surprise me if he improved enormously whilst here & moved to a bigger club.Claret_tinted wrote: ↑Sun Jul 11, 2021 11:28 amHave you read what I wrote? How old is he now?

The few times ive seen Benson play there was nothing to suggest he was worth £650k.

The irony. You’re not ‘…competing for grammar awards,’, but you then use punctuation for the first time today. Then it all got a little hard and you gave up. Keep trying, you’ll get it.

He’s technically poor, cash out.FeedTheArf wrote: ↑Sun Jul 11, 2021 11:53 amWould much prefer to loan him to them for a season and see how he fairs with a full season of Championship football behind him.
That or a buy back / hefty sell on clause. There’s definitely a decent player in there.
Failing that could we do a John Travolta / Nicholas Cage face off switch and send them Dale Stephens instead??

Interesting to see our foraging in the transfer market, and looking at the more serious rumours. I suspect ALK have said to SD that there is absolutely no question that we need to strengthen the squad, however we need to operate more as a business. As a result Tarkowski should be sold as its clear he will not sign a new contract , even if its only roughly half of his value 12 months ago, but commercially we cannot let him go for nothing next May. Suspect a fee of £20-£22m would see him move and at that price the number of clubs keen on him would increase significantly. Next, Dwight , as long as we can generate £35-£40m for him. We would need to pay Brentford circa £7m for Tarkowski, but with Dwight's fee that would generate between £50 -£55m net. Add that to the £8m for Gibson and that gives SD a budget of just over £60m, of which £12m has been spent on Collins.
This would mean we can bring in a serious left winger such as Cornet, a right winger, and another centre half such as Worrall, Phillips, Fry or Souttar and Long stays as fourth choice. Its also obvious that the need to have a proper second choice keeper has been heightened following abject performances by Peacock Farrell, so a GK out of contract such as Hennessy would be a great acquisition. I think Nick will stay, but there has to be a question about his fitness/injuries based on the last couple of seasons so the need for a No2 who can slot in is important. Both Norris and BFP cost us points last season. Norris stays as No 3 , and all being well will never be used. I would not expect all the incoming funds to be spent, with some going to an increased wage budget, and maybe some for dry powder for January

I can't believe the amount of bickering that goes on, today of all days and its still going on. We are only here once and lives can change in a blink of a second, so enjoy it rather than putting effort in to meaningless petty arguments. UTC NNN COYC.

We need to cash in on Dwight. I don’t think he will sustain or improve past his current level or ability. There’s far better options out there for the ‘type’ of player out there.NewClaret wrote: ↑Sun Jul 11, 2021 12:36 pmI really hope we don’t sell Dwight this summer - we need our experienced PL players, plus I expect Dwight will have an excellent season and only increase his value - but we do need to have his replacement in the building and able cover if he gets injured. We’ve been very lucky that he’s managed to play so many games over recent seasons.

Over the past 10 years how many players have we developed that have moved on to bigger things?
3 players? Keane, Trips, Ings. Two of them players were not even purchased in the Dyche era.

I never said every single player but a select few have, Chris wood as improved, Ashley Barnes did improve, Nick Pope as improved, tarks as improved, Charlie Taylor as improved, just a few top of the head, not everybody as because we have tended to buy players in the past well past it, crouch & co ect.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Sun Jul 11, 2021 1:26 pmIf I’m honest I don’t agree with this sentiment,

You talking about the same Dwight McNeil that has better stats in the premier league at his age than Grealish? Whilst playing for arguably the most defensive team in the league.Claret_tinted wrote: ↑Sun Jul 11, 2021 1:41 pmUsing the capital to balance the team is a good idea.

Nearly everybody seems to improve whilst at the club under dyches watch, nearly every single player I can think of as improved in some shape or form the 1s that haven’t have been well past the peak of their careers or haven’t stuck around for long enough, the 3 you mentioned you could potentially add another 3 to that list with Nick Pope & Dwight & tarks unless you think they’ll see the careers out here.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Sun Jul 11, 2021 1:40 pmI thought it was purely in reference to the point where you said you expect him to develop and move to a big club. Not really, it’s just being passed on through networks. He had thought deals were lined up to be told that they’re looking at other targets and is now having to drum up interest in the euro market.
I’d imagine Burnley are happy to deal and keep to their ‘agreement’ but also are happy if he stays.

It seemed like Benson was really close to the first team at times (probably due to lack of numbers) - I'd be surprised to see him leave for as little as 650K unless we have a ridiculous sell on fee

I think I know what you mean by re-invested, but that would require a very specific definition, as it is there is a lot that would meet the criteria as stated - including making the next share payment

How much did Villa sign Buendia for again?
McNeil is younger and has done it for longer at a higher level. Villa have set their own benchmark with the signing of Buendia.

Doesn't really matter about their previous, sometimes clubs buy players for their potential. Moukoko and Fati are worth more than Dwight is despite not doing it longer at the highest level.Jakubs Tash wrote: ↑Sun Jul 11, 2021 7:44 pmHow much did Villa sign Buendia for again?

I don’t have time to answer this throughly before kick off. JG is technically better, he’s value to the team is higher in free kicks won, breaking the line etc. He’s played in more open and competitive teams where he is not the only creative outlet and so on. He’s world class, Dwight will never reach that level.

I’m happy to stand by that comment, he’s just not worth what you all think he is. He’s BFC’s talisman, that doesn’t make him worth a fortune. 20 million with achievable add ons is realistic.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Sun Jul 11, 2021 8:56 pmThis bloke should probably stay away from football

His age, number of PL appearances, contract length, nationality and the fact we don't need to sell dictates his price and you're well off.Claret_tinted wrote: ↑Sun Jul 11, 2021 10:00 pmI’m happy to stand by that comment, he’s just not worth what you all think he is.
