Nah, I just want a proper winger. None of this rubbish like ‘he could do a job there’ like we have with people like Brownhill. Sign a recognised winger and play him on the wing.WiscoClaret wrote: ↑Fri Jul 16, 2021 3:23 pmI know Neco Williams plays primarily RB. Do you believe our interest in him is for a long term replacement for Bardsley and Lowton (the lovely Chesterfield Cafu) but also a short term cover for RW? If we’ve reignited any interest in Williams, and that’s a big IF, it would be potentially because Albrighton and Cornet are looking far more unlikely.
I do know that Collins can put in a shift at RB (and also as a Midfielder.)
Dyche really does like a player who can put a shift in, in multiple positions a la Erik Pieters #ep23.
Williams crossing ability is quite good, he can defend, he’s quite athletic, and with some time training with Dyche he could be a proper Burnley winger.
Now I’ll also say it would not be the most ambitious or flashy move either. It would not be a sign of intent in terms of nabbing players we REALLY want for these positions. However as another poster pointed out, sometimes our dealings in the transfer window/market are down to who’s available and who is actually willing to come.
His brother is in the academy here and is a promising talent from what I understand.
Anyway- what are your thoughts on Williams and my assessment? I’m willing to take the “you’re off your rocker.” It’s just a hunch but I’m assuming if he can play wing back he may be able to play wide in a 4-4-2.

My mistake putting Wolves instead of WBA, but we do agree, their roller coaster might well stall with the losing of their manager. We'll have to see, but either way, it would be an excellent opportunity for Benson to progress (or maybe not) imo, as he won't progress by sitting on our bench and playing the odd 5 minutes at the end of a game.

If we dont sign a proper right winger this summer then serious questions need to be asked!
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Well we can't blame Rigg anymore and we can't blame Garlic anymore seeing as they have both gone.Seems like the same old shambles we have every transfer window. The only ever present being our manager.so is he the problem.Shopoing in the championship for British only players must surely be a very small pool, maybe that's dried up.

I agree but the window hasn't shut yet, so let's just wait and see how our squad looks when it finally closes, and if we haven't recruited a genuine right-winger by that time then I'll be the first to complain vociferously, surely the manager and powers that be can see that's a glaring hole in our current squad, and it needs rectifying in this window, especially now Robbie's been released, that must free up some funds to cover wages etc, and there must be a RW somewhere that fits into our budget surely to goodness.Superjohnnyfrancis wrote: ↑Fri Jul 16, 2021 6:08 pmIf we dont sign a proper right winger this summer then serious questions need to be asked!

Not bad value that really, he could stay at Arsenal for 10 years and he'll only get better and he's very good right now. He certainly improves them now, takes up one of the 11 spaces, long term.Chester Perry wrote: ↑Fri Jul 16, 2021 11:02 pmarsenal agree to pay £50m for Brighton's Ben White

Gibson was last in the squad (even for training) in January 2020. His absence doesn't reduce the squad size at all.

White is really good but he’s a defender, 23, and has one season’s experience at the top level. Granted he’s got an England cap but what does that put McNeil’s value at?

There is still plenty of time until the window closes at the end of August. We have moved early to get Collins and as others have said it's a waiting game with deals at other clubs opening up possibilities. For those panicking there has been a total of 40 Deals in the prem including loans and signing old loans permanently. By far the busiest clubs have been Watford and Norwich with their typical scatter gun approach. Brentford is yet to make a signing as are Newcastle, Man City, Chelsea, Everton and Spurs.
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
We are linked to West Ham winger Andriy Yarmolenko, in the last 12 months of his contract available for 3 million that's a massive difference to the almost 20 million West Ham paid for him 3 years ago

Not seen Yarmolenko pull up any trees for West Ham or Ukraine. They are apparently prepared to take a massive hit on his transfer fee.
Not sure where he'd play as although Wiki states he's a winger cum forward. I am not sure he is either.
Edit: Getting him confused with someone else
. Can see the interest if true.

Burnley in advanced contract talks with Nick Pope in bid to fend off transfer interest from Premier League rivals
https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football ... s-24554785
"Burnley are in advanced talks with Nick Pope over a new deal at Turf Moor.
The 29-year-old, who missed out on England’s Euro campaign through injury, has established himself as one of the top keepers in the Premier League in recent seasons.
And Burnley are keen to tie him down to a lucrative long-term deal to fend off interest from rival clubs.
Pope still has two years to run on the contract he signed in 2019, with the option of a further year.
But he is a huge part of Sean Dyche’s team and the club are keen to get his long-term future wrapped up.
Pope joined Charlton from Suffolk side Bury Town in 2011 and moved to Burnley five years later as understudy to Tom Heaton before ultimately replacing him as No.1."

To be fair West Ham spent a shed load on players they couldn't really afford. We could offset the wages with a signing bonus to bring him in line with other earners. We've done it before. They keep throwing sh*t at a wall and hoping some of it sticks.
They're the typical Premier League club wannabe big club and to appease the fans they keep buying players who don't fit their framework. West Ham fans have this strange opinion that they're bigger than they are.
Alas. They're not. If it's true, it's doable. The question is. Can he defend?

Can see Yarmalenko choosing Turkey over a lesser contract at Burnley, although he doesn’t strike me as a player we’d want for some reason. He’s too injury prone for us to commit a big wage towards in my opinion
