enjoyed reading this, which is part of an analysis regarding McNeil and Everton comparing with other potential buys, but no mention of DG or AT in this.

Brighton to offer £15m for Liverpool's Phillips

This cant be true. Sure he coming on loan to us.
A chat on here posted a twitter account saying he was shopping in Burnley before loan deal was announced.

Demarai Gray expected to undergo a medical at Evertin in a 1.5m deal from Leverkusen, and no I've not got the decimal in the wrong place.
Very cheap, and the type of player I always want us to be looking at

Looking and acting are two entirely different things.
Perhaps the player doesn't fit the profile and criteria outlined by Dyche?
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Why would they let him go so cheaply unless it's clear he isn't living up to the promise he had as a younger player?

Why would we need any more defenders though If Tarkowski stays?superdimitri wrote: ↑Tue Jul 20, 2021 9:17 amThis is our issue nowadays. Not only are we being priced out of players by top 10 sides we're now priced out by fellow relegation rivals.
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Possibly struggling to adapt in a foreign country with the language and culture.
Think that's a very cheap price for someone who has over 120 appearances for Leicester, over 200 in his career to date and is still only 25.
Not saying we could have beaten Everton to his signature, but could be a great bit of business.
To put it into context we paid way more than that for the likes of Walter's, Wells, Sordell, Juke etc.
Whether it turns out to be good business time will tell, but a pacy, direct English player with decent stats in the premier league usually commands a lot more, youd struggle to get a league 1 player with those attributes for 1.5m.
Hopefully we are looking at someone similar, we are crying out for someone like him IMO

If you look at the bigger picture then you’ll understand it doesn’t necessarily boil down to whether we can afford to meet the transfer fee within itself, can we really afford to go toe to toe with wages competing with Everton or somebody else, when we have premier league competition we will always struggle to be the first choice in many ways even financially aside the player also needs to have that desire to move relatively local to this part of the northwest. As soon as you hear targets being linked with other clubs from credible sources you might as well just forget the target & move on.

It’s always been the case. Brighton have just sold Ben White to Arsenal for £40m and replaced him with Philips for £15m. We might have done the same, had Tarks moved early doors, but would have had to have beaten our own record transfer fee to better Brighton’s offer.

Been already mentioned, but needs mentioning again
Brighton have an owner who bank rolls the club to the tune of about £50 million a season.
They have been top 4 in transfer spend the past couple of seasons
They are in the same league as us, but not financially
Hope that helps

And the rest of it …. absolute tutt. Brownhill was closely linked with West Ham before coming here, Collins linked with a load of clubs.

We can still survive by being smart and shrewd in the transfer market (its the only way we can compete). We are not the biggest payers in the PL by any means but suspect not the worst. We can offer players PL football (if good enough a start in most games), and we have survived 6 successive seasons which gives further confidence. For players like Collins the first genuine opportunity of playing PL football. For someone who has played predominantly PL football ie Hennessy, Westwood, Stephen Ward, Cork an opportunity to stay in the PL. Its not all bad at BFC

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Wages take up a huge chunk of our budget, which of course affects the transfer policy
Am surprised we've not been a lot more active in the free transfer market, as more and more players are coming out of contract (suspect we have been, but we've just not managed to get our targets)
Be interested to see what happens if we still can't bring anyone in within the next couple of weeks, because that will mean we'd really see just how committed the new owners are to reinforcing the squad.

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Burnley have a big reputation for attracting/ developing goalkeepers and defenders - Pope, Heaton, Hart, Trippier, Keane, Tarks, Mee etc. The most notable failure being Gibson, but even he was originally attracted to the prospect of playing for Burnley. Therefore it’s very clear why Collins has made the move.
Brownhill’s move was a very lucky and astute bit of business between the two cubs. Bristol City desperately needed a goal scoring forward and we wanted a young, athletic midfielder. Burnley were keen to off-load Wells and balanced the deal with a sizeable transfer fee for local boy Brownhill. All very neat and tidy.
Where Burnley can’t compete any more is in attracting the serious strikers and playmakers. Not hogwash but reality.

Hart was and still is a highly thought of keeper (No.2 at Spurs). He was an outcast at West Ham and was keen enough to see the benefits of working at Burnley - even though we had Pope, Heaton and Anders Lindegaard.

All you people saying we can’t compete ……
If we can’t, how do you explain our performances over the last six years? Literally every player we have we signed from somewhere else, with the exception of Dwight.
If we can’t compete that means that we were the only club in for every player we signed. But we’ve also apparently got a terrible scouting department.
So we’ve either got a terrible scouting department which was the only one in the world who identified these players who are capable of playing and thriving in the Premier League …..
Or
We can compete. It’s just hard.
I think I know where my thoughts are.

Perhaps we'll fare better with a on-off circa £25m for Dwight.
Or is that destined for directors bank accounts also?
