so many good memories:

does anyone know what the 4 white rectangles are that have appeared in the 'L' section of the upper tier?

Re: bye-bye James Hargreaves
They look like press box sections. Maybe its been divided up to occupy less of the back rows?

Isn’t it just the James Hargreaves board that was in front of the tv gantry, broken into 4 and with its back to us?claretblue wrote: ↑Thu Jul 22, 2021 3:59 pmso many good memories:

Re: bye-bye James Hargreaves
The potential departure of James Hargreaves was mentioned on the ticketing thread. None of the sponsors are showing on the prices on the club's website although I do believe JH & Ladbrokes are gone.
The four white rectangles are part of the press box that was extended to ensure everyone was keeping a safe distance from each other.

Re: bye-bye James Hargreaves
Wonder if they’ll be moved before the start of the season then. Presumably they’re season ticket holder seats?ClaretTony wrote: ↑Thu Jul 22, 2021 4:08 pmThe potential departure of James Hargreaves was mentioned on the ticketing thread. My mum did although she never went on the Turf. James Hargreaves was her dad, my granddad.claretonthecoast1882 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 22, 2021 4:10 pmWhen asked where I sit I would always reply Longside upper, do people really call it the James Hargeaves ?
Longside upper for me too but if the board in 1996 had had any decency they would have called it the Harry Potts Longside given that Harry passed away during the time it was being built.

I sit in that area and haven’t been notified that I am being moved but that’s not to say it won’t yet happen, which would be very annoying as I’ve already been moved once to accommodate extension of press boxes.

How good would it be if the word ‘Longside’ was put on the stand? Either in the seating or above the turnstiles

Re: bye-bye James Hargreaves
Not sure that’s correct (although I may well be wrong). But if you look at the 3x frames hung between the two tiers they are missing 3 boards each. Looks like the 9 white rectangles that you can see are going to be fixed to the frames.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Thu Jul 22, 2021 4:08 pmThe four white rectangles are part of the press box that was extended to ensure everyone was keeping a safe distance from each other.

They were for the press for social distancing purposes, they were there all season.
The the wall is having digital signage installed on it
The frames you mention are camera gantries, they were only used one as the location for Camera 1 once, which was against Chelsea a few seasons ago.

I have never called it the JH stand.
If we don’t have a sponsor, then it would be a nice move by the club to officially recognise it as the Longside.

Absolutely with the Longside, only folk who didn't know any better called it after a Plumbers Merchants.NottsClaret wrote: ↑Thu Jul 22, 2021 4:14 pmSame, still Longside and BeeHole, can't see me learning new names now.
But the Jimmy Mc, you can't learn the name of our greatest ever player?
Anyone who called the Cricketfield the Ladbrokes stand, really should have been fired out of a cannon towards Ewood.

It has been suggested they got the sponsorship on very favourable terms all them years ago through one of the directors.
I don't think these new owners are giving anyone favourable terms on any sponsorship. Long term or not.

Pretty sure James Hargreaves was Bernard Rothwell's company that was later run by his son Gordon, so it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if favourable terms were offered.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Fri Jul 23, 2021 2:59 pmIt has been suggested they got the sponsorship on very favourable terms all them years ago through one of the directors.
