No cash payments at Blackpool other than at the turnstiles
I'm surprised we haven't made this decision at Burnley but Blackpool confirmed yesterday that Bloomfield Road is now cashless. So if you are going tonight, please note, only card and mobile payments (Apple and Google Pay) will now be accepted when purchasing food and beverage at the kiosks.

Didn’t we trail it the other season in one of the stands?
Seem to recall a lot of posts/complaints on here about it

Re: No cash payments at Blackpool
We did trial it in 2018/19 but introduced card payments in 2019/20 although it was an option and you could still pay cash. They've not said anything but such is communication at our club right now that it wouldn't surprise me if they made it cashless and didn't tell anyone.

That was a joke that didn't last long. What was the app called?
Re: No cash payments at Blackpool
Tbh a properly made add would be perfect. For those that don’t drink and want to get stuck in the crowded concourses seat delivery would be ideal. Those that do drink, pre order what you want so ease queuing.
We could even produce a points like system similar to Tesco club card.

I've not used cash at all this year. Good move from Blackpool really.

Cashless is going to be the only way to go in the future for sure . Now a couple of weeks ago i was out on one of the islands off the west coast of Ireland and there was this long line of people waiting in line for Ice Cream , now when they got to the front they were told that they were only taking cash as you can guess some were not very happy in this cashless world .

Most places accept both.
Football grounds won't trust their seasonal staff with money, so card payments is better for them.

Wouldn't be surprised if there is an option soon to add a cash balance to your Season ticket card and use that. It works well at Ferencvaros for one

I ask because taxi's here in Bristol have been cashless for at least 2 years if not more and i've never had an issue paying for a takeaway by card. Only place i can think of that is cash only is the chippy.

Yes I do.
Taxi's are so cheap here I suspect money laundering drug dealers is going on.
Re: No cash payments at Blackpool
Same here, most pubs and bars are cashless where I live.
I was visiting my mother the other week and even the Barlick Tap takes cards nowadays! Certainly cash only when I worked behind the bar...

Re: No cash payments at Blackpool other than at the turnstiles
Only those with dirty money should need cash, although even that can be done electronically nowadays.
Re: No cash payments at Blackpool other than at the turnstiles
Not all children have an internet-enabled bank account. Funnily enough, not all adults do either.
There's no reason why we can't have cash and internet banking. Plenty of room for both.

It is a dangerous thing to give financial institutions and govt total control of an individual's finances. I'm amazed at the trust that has already been placed in politicians and their political scientific advisors.
Re: No cash payments at Blackpool other than at the turnstiles
Why? I have never been impressed with the idea that a perfectly workable system should be ditched and replaced with a less convenient one, just because the less convenient one is new.
Some of football's lawmakers have the same problem - they look at the way the laws have developed over the past 150 years and throw it out because they think a new law is bound to be better.

Its more convenient not to have cash. I know this place has a age demographic of approximately 60+ years old but come on we should be embracing technology and not be so afraid of it.dsr wrote: ↑Thu Jul 29, 2021 11:54 amWhy? Well given the alternative is John, a 47 year old, who dropped out of school at 15 and still lives at his mum and dad's house creating youtube videos of "proof" the earth is flat and the vaccine is actually inserting a governement monitoring device, 5g is mind control, jet streams are mind controlling and the queen is a lizard dressed as a woman, thats why.ten bellies wrote: ↑Thu Jul 29, 2021 11:03 amIt is a dangerous thing to give financial institutions and govt total control of an individual's finances. Re: No cash payments at Blackpool other than at the turnstiles
It's more convenient to have cash? So if you're on a night out and want a taxi home, and your phone isn't working or you've lost it, what would you do if your mate offered you a £20 note to get home? Accept with thanks, or tell him you don't want it because it's more convenient not to have it?
Which gives you greater flexibility and convenience - having two ways to pay, or having one way to pay?

You should really try out internet banking. It will really open up a world of possibilities in your life.dsr wrote: ↑Thu Jul 29, 2021 7:03 pmIt's more convenient to have cash? If it's that easy to monitor you, then it'll be easy for hackers and scammers too.claret2018 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 30, 2021 10:03 pmThe government can monitor me all they want if it means I can pay with a card everywhere
