That offer seems a bit ‘flaky’. Is Alonso being ‘frozen’ out?Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Mon Aug 02, 2021 10:32 pmInter Milan have turned down a bid of 100 million Euros + Alonso from Chelsea for Lukaku !
I've just spent an hour driving round Nimes and I can't find him so I won't be throwing him anywhere. My point was that he's a bit more like Rouwen Hennings, a player who's under the radar who's just had a great season and could be an "inexpensive" gamble. Cornet is probably disappointed that he's not attracting an offer from a team who will be in the Champions League this season.
No to Kenny, and no to £25m thanks very much, the first because Kenny is dog poo, and the second because Dwight is worth way more than £25m to us, plus he's got a few years on his contract, so we can hold out for a good deal more than that derisory amount.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 03, 2021 3:12 pmLiverpool echo:
Everton face competition from Aston Villa for Dwight McNeil. Jonjoe Kenny was in talks with Burnley in January so a player plus cash deal could be an option. Everton value McNeil at £25m & see him as a top transfer target.

paying Hart 15k per week 3 year dealtiger76 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 03, 2021 5:10 pmbizarre they paid £5m for Barkas last summer, and he's barely featured, now they sign Hart.
They've also signed James McCarthy after his release from Palace, but he's another guy who's been plagued by injuries.
McCarthy actually was at Celtic in his youth, but was turned down by the club then.
He claims to have been a life long Celtic supporter, but don't they all.
To be fair , James McCarthy, born in Glasgow , is fairly likely to be a Celtic Fan ... Not so sure about Joe O'Hart thoughtiger76 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 03, 2021 5:10 pmbizarre they paid £5m for Barkas last summer, and he's barely featured, now they sign Hart.

McCarthy's agent has played a blinder there, a 4 year deal for a guy who turns 31 soon, could you imagine the meltdown on here if Burnley signed someone in that mould.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Tue Aug 03, 2021 5:53 pmpaying Hart 15k per week 3 year deal
McCarthy 4 year deal![]()
McCarthy probably is a Celtic fan, and he did attend a Catholic school, which is often a hint.randomclaret2 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 03, 2021 5:57 pmTo be fair , James McCarthy, born in Glasgow , is fairly likely to be a Celtic Fan ... Not so sure about Joe O'Hart though![]()
Fluent in Fance speak are you?RVclaret wrote: ↑Tue Aug 03, 2021 8:07 pmL’equipe reporting that both ourselves and Hertha continue to discuss Cornet transfer.

I think some are forgetting the season starts next weekend and we have 2 wingers on our books, and one is Johan Glass Ankles.
It might turn out you're right and we sign him. I can't believe we will. Brownhill would be used on the right if JBG cant pending the end of the transfer window.MACCA wrote: ↑Tue Aug 03, 2021 8:48 pmI think some are forgetting the season starts next weekend and we have 2 wingers on our books, and one is Johan Glass Ankles.
It's getting to the stage where anyone who can give us 20 minutes is an upgrade on what we currently have..
Wouldn't surprise me if we were taking a look
as a "just in case type situation"
Dyche has chosen to play without an orthodox right winger loads of times.boatshed bill wrote: ↑Tue Aug 03, 2021 8:24 pmTo be fair the U23s don't really have an orthodox right winger.
‘Maxwel Cornet is in the sights of the British Burnley and the Germans of Hertha Berlin, as revealed by the website L'Équipe on July 19. The two clubs, cautious, are still in negotiations with the Lyon leaders, who are awaiting an offer of more than € 10m for the last two years of the 24-year-old Ivorian international's contract.’
And nor would I want us to if that’s the case.CnBtruntru wrote: ↑Tue Aug 03, 2021 9:01 pmCornet wants to go Berlin or mainly Germany, so doubt we will sign him.
I don't see what you are getting at.
my point is simple - he didn't need to replace JBG with an orthodox right winger. For example, he could've played Brownhill on the right and Gomez Mancini in the middle or vice versa. Or changed the formation to test what he'll do in just over a week if JBG has to come off and we don't sign a right winger before then.boatshed bill wrote: ↑Tue Aug 03, 2021 9:07 pmI don't see what you are getting at.
I am making the point that if SD wants 2 orthodox right-wingers he won't find one in the Under 23s.
On that basis it seems logical to play even Lennon in a friendly if only to see how the system works.
I think Gomez-Mancini is a long way off filling a right wing/midfield berth, he plays centre-MF for the U23s, plays short passes....taio wrote: ↑Tue Aug 03, 2021 9:14 pmmy point is simple - he didn't need to replace JBG with an orthodox right winger. I disagree. We should be doing whatever we would do against Brighton if JBG is substituted. Brownhill will absolutely be an option for that.boatshed bill wrote: ↑Tue Aug 03, 2021 9:19 pmI think Gomez-Mancini is a long way off filling a right wing/midfield berth, he plays centre-MF for the U23s, plays short passes....
Max Thompson plays wide right in U23s and he really isn't a midfielder.
OK, he could have used Brownhill there, but probably no point moving him out there when he's one of only 3 fit CMs.
You are probably right there.
No, I've no idea what we can afford.boatshed bill wrote: ↑Tue Aug 03, 2021 9:25 pmYou are probably right there.
Truth is we need to sign a proper right MF/Winger, preferably under 30 (25), for a fee and wages that we can afford...
Any ideas?
