What on earth does that mean, we also signed Ian Wright, Gazza and Andy Cole? Defour was playing in the Belgian league, he chose us instead of going to the middle east.

My point is Cucurella is a young talent, coming into his prime, heavily linked with Atletico Madrid. It's a little different to signing an ageing Defour wrecked by injury, as good and as talented as Defour was/is.

Reasons why he could choose us over Brighton...

1) We were interested in him back in 2019 (and I believe he visited the training ground at the time) so he may appreciate that Dyche / Burnley has been after him for a long time.
2) Getafe play a similar style of football as us so would be less of an adjustment than moving to Brighton.
3) Much less competition for places. Brighton are buying a lot of talent, he could find himself rapidly out on the fringes if he struggles to adjust, at Burnley there would be much more invested in him relatively speaking and as such he'd get more time and opportunities.

... it's almost certainly not going to happen but we can dream haha.

If he's as good as you say he is why isn't he being linked with bigger clubs such as Everton or West Ham?

I just told you he's been heavily linked with Atletico Madrid recently. I have no idea which teams want him or why they don't, my opinion as always is based solely on watching him play and not what others say.

Good shout, and after last nights debacle the rumours are Rangers will have to sell a few to balance their books.

I'll be if Rangers let him go for as little as £8m, that's about what they paid Liverpool for him a couple of years ago, and without doubt he's massively improved under Gerrard, plus he's still got 2 years on his contract, if Leeds or anybody else snap him up for £8m that'll represent great business.
