Just a supporter, like him (or at least he was).

I fail to understand how being in the Premier League forces people away.
It's not really progressive though, we aren't signing a flurry of players and trying to improve are we? we aren't trying to improve, just content to tread water and scrape survival with pretty boring stale football. We haven't signed a guarantee starter in 4 years, fans love new players, its the hope that a couple of great additions will take you onto that next level and slowly but surely your team will build and evolve into something better.

Read his last paragraph. He mentions a new manager, new league, and a return to 70's football!

He may get his wish, apart from the 70's football bit, as the game has moved on.
He's provided several honest reasons why he's decided to have a break in a carefully thought out post. It's his prerogative and I fear he's not his own.

That's a carbon copy of everything you were saying when we were in the Championship.

Let's hope he's in the minority then, otherwise we'll soon have no fans left! :o

You just completely made that up to stifle any kind of discussion. We signed a ton of players in the Championship who were instant starters, exciting ones too like Barton and Gray who gave fans hope and an excitement they could take us to that next level and they did.

So, what you're saying is, that if we get relegated, you'll consider going back on?

Strange logic.
Not necessarily: if we could find a way to get better players and a more entertaining style of play in the Premier League then that would be perfect. I can't see that happening but I would love to be proved wrong.

Alternatively, playing in a lower division with a younger, more creative team and manager may not be an unattractive proposition. More East Lancashire derbies might be a further attraction. Being able to compete on a Saturday without each game being like the defence of the Alamo would also provide welcome respite.

Apologies, but apart from the signings, you did nothing but whinge about Dyche and the style of play when we were in the championship, just as you do now.

There is still time to bring players in ( although admittedly time is running out), but I just don't buy your assertion that we refuse to bring players in because we don't want to improve. Seriously good players have to want to come here and they also cost a lot of money. It's really not as simple as you seem to think.

I know numerous people who are concerned about the new owners due to the leveraged buy out. Hopefully in time those concerns will disappear because people are satisfied the position is sustainable and will allow investment. But if not...

I agree with your reasoning but I don't think increasing ticket prices is the answer to selling more seats.
£30-35 isn't a lot for a match day ticket though, some people are stuck on the £50 ones and that's most a shock tbh.

Our tickets have been under priced for years

It doesn't matter if we want to improve or we want to bring players in, the simple fact is we haven't brought in players to improve for 4 years. If seriously good players cost a fortune, recruit smarter and coach them into seriously good players.

I know a couple of lads that have long been going on the Turf as season ticket holders and as walk ons over the last 40 years, this season they have ditched it and are going to various non league games because they hate the Premier League. I suspect there are a few others doing the same
That was always going to be the case eventually.

I said years ago on here or the other place that eventually we'd see crowd numbers drop when the novelty of the PL wears off, every club does because the majority of clubs are just here to make up the numbers.

And yet despite this, we've survived fairly comfortably in the PL. Dyche and the owners must be doing something right. Ofor course, we can't stand still, but bringing in top players to compete at this level is always going to be a challenge for a club of our size. It's just the reality.

Dyche spoke about it, said after qualifying for the Europa League qualifiers was the perfect time to try and kick on as a club and improve, we haven't seen the club try anything to improve on the pitch. tread water and go backwards slowly, at this point we're just sat waiting to get relegated and put out of our misery.

It all depends on how much disposable income you have if it’s expensive or not. Person A has £1,000 a month to spend on luxuries no £35 isn’t a lot. Person B has £100 a month suddenly £35 is a lot.

Tickets could be £5 but if you’ve only got £4 in your pocket to spend it’s still out of reach.

Sorry I must not be explaining myself particularly well. I've not for a moment suggested that there weren't critics of Garlick on here. I'm specifically saying there are people who were content with the previous Board, didn't want them gone and have concerns about the current owners because of the leveraged buy out that will hopefully turn out to be fine.

Hence why I've pointed out money is a factor in a drop in fans.

For me it cost me a days wage of £250, £35 for a ticket plus £80 for fuel/food etc, so £360 just so I could watch a single game, I'm self employed.

I won't do that regularly, but I'll try to get to half a dozen home games this season, but I'd add it's definitely easier with the E-tickets, I think that's a great step forwards.

It's all relative, but I noticed Chelsea's crowd was slightly down on pre-covid levels.

I'm guessing this is because they insisted on proof of vaccine?

Therefore, if our attendances are low now, then come October...
I saw a report yesterday that Chelsea had to cancel 900+ tickets for their game against Palace. They are installing rail seating but project is behind. They told their 900+ ticket holders on Friday that their tickets were cancelled. Of course, they will get refunds (pro rata ST price) and there was something about a free ticket to a cup game in Sept/Oct.

Chelsea got news out about proof of covid vaccine status, or negative test, several weeks ago. I've not heard that that was an problem for their fans.

How many of the empty seats are down to the ManU fans who also have STs at Turf Moor (according to some posters)? I don't think there would have been time to get from OT to Burnley after their lunch time kick-off, especially not with 72,000 in the crowd.

The problem with our drop off in season ticket sales is that a lot of fans stopped there dd or cash lump sums because of covid and can't be bothered renewing, this will have happened at most other clubs but has effected us more because we don't have a waiting list for season tickets, so we can't fall back on it like other clubs can

Yes, they have

I'm looking at about £200 quid increase in my and my lads S/Ts

But I've been paying the same amount for years, all of them in the premier league, and at about half the price of a similar seat in another ground

Its not ideal of course, but that doesn't change the fact that for the product (the premier league), we have been underpaying

The PL is made up of City clubs, quite a few in London, charging London prices in Burnley simply doesn't work.

(I'm not sure that Liverpool one is right)

Yes, our season tickets have been under priced for what's on offer, look at Bournemouth's and their ground is tiny.

Our tickets should be the cheapest in the league, it's the poorest area and smallest town. I've no idea why you'd believe otherwise and try compare with City clubs.

I think the dull football and the fact that there are no incoming players to get excited about is the main reason for the empty seats.

Bournemouth had like 10,000 capacity and it's a less poor town twice the size. In essence they should have double the demand and half the supply. So yes, they should've had more expensive tickets.

There’s been some decent debate considering various factors in this thread, and everybody’s situation is different, but I think this is essentially the issue.

It certainly is the reason I haven't renewed.

It’s been purposely priced that way it’s not that black & white pricing if not set properly you will get a drop in footfall, the price is determined with realistic demand what might be reasonable to you might not be to the next man, if you are earning £600 a week after overheads the price might be reasonable, but to somebody receiving benefits it will be way too excessive. It’s not too high or low because everybody’s got different financial expenditures.

Judging by the queue for the “sniff boxes” in the CFS at half time, doesnt appear to be a shortage of money round these parts. :? ;)
True, it’s amazing how some people can plead poverty but find surplus cash for iPhones & flagship Samsung’s & drugs.

They generally have been amongst the cheapest in the league, in regards to ST's.

Our cheapest match day ticket price is the equivalent to a takeaway, cheaper than a night out and similar to a few packets of cigarettes.

The mentality is the issue, stuck in the small town mindset.
You've been one of the biggest critics over the years about the club, demanding this, that and the other, especially when it comes to the style of play but you seemingly don't want to pay towards it.

Can't have it both ways, so moving forwards I expect to see less whinging from you about the hoof ball.

The club has helped fans out in regards to payment schemes for the season tickets which were interest free and payments spread out which has been admirable and makes it easier for people to buy them.

So you believe that it's right they were paying more to watch football but they still never reached 7th, no European football and I think that's the season they got relegated?

Where is this info from GIADJ? Doesn’t seem right to me…. Example, arsenal tickets are £30 or so, but over £2k for a season ticket? In that case, why would they sell ANY season tickets?

Unless I’m missing something, which is entirely likely….
