Leicester City v Burnley - match thread
I know it's a bit early but its an opportunity to post some match facts c/o BBC website:
Leicester have lost six of their last nine Premier League games (three wins), more than they had in their previous 24 before this. However, the Foxes have won each of their last six league games against sides starting the day in the relegation zone.
Burnley have lost their last three away league games; they last lost more consecutive matches on the road in February 2017 (seven). Overall, the Clarets have taken just one point from the last 24 available in the Premier League, scoring just three goals in that run.
Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers has won all five of his home games against Burnley in all competitions – in his managerial career, he’s only got a better 100% home win ratio against Motherwell (6/6).
Burnley’s Chris Wood has scored four Premier League goals against former side Leicester, only netting more against West Ham (seven) and Wolves (five) in the competition. The New Zealand striker has scored in his last two league visits to King Power Stadium.

I hope that Chris Wood isn't playing.
He once pushed and fouled Michael Duff to score.

I think it led up to their second goal Buxton.
But now you've got me doubting it.

Not offside!
…Wood barged Duff out of the way and struck a glorious volley past Heaton from about 30 yards!

If Wood barged over an opposition premier league defender like that he'd be rolling around on the ground feigning death and it would be a certain freekick.

Re: Leicester City v Burnley - match thread
I don't harbour any great hopes of a result today, but we're not playing that badly, it's just a case of cutting out the errors at the back, and putting the ball in the net at the other end.
Point today would be a morale booster ahead of the Norwich match next week, and that's a game we simply have to win.

Yep makes sense to me, especially given the opponents next week, that's the type of game where his creativity could prove the difference in a tight match.burnley007 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 25, 2021 12:02 pmCornet on the bench today, with a 1st start next week at home??

Nice that they won't only have McNeil to worry about. You double up on him and it leaves more room for Vydra and Cornet.

Jay Rod injured?
Re: Leicester City v Burnley - match thread
If we are leading with ten to go then Barnes is perfect in that situation to bring on.

Vydra gave Jay a good kick in training in order to guarantee his starting position today.

MATCH FACTS
Head-to-head
Leicester are unbeaten in 10 home league games against Burnley since a 1-0 defeat in the Championship in November 2007 (W6, D4).
Burnley are one short of 100 top-flight goals against Leicester.
Leicester City
Leicester have lost six of their past nine league games, as many as in their previous 25 fixtures.
Brendan Rodgers can lose three consecutive league matches as a manager for the first time since November 2014, when he was at Liverpool.
Rodgers has won all five of his home games against Burnley in all competitions.
The Foxes have only kept one clean sheet in their past 11 Premier League matches.
Jamie Vardy has scored five goals in his past six Premier League appearances for Leicester.
James Maddison could make his 200th career league appearance. He has failed to score or assist in any of his last 13 league games.
Burnley
Burnley's four victories in their past 24 league fixtures have all come away (D6, L14).
However, they have only earned one point home or away in eight matches, scoring just three goals during that run.
The Clarets have dropped a league-high eight points from winning positions this season.
Burnley are on a Premier League record run of 98 consecutive games without a red card.
Chris Wood has scored four times against his former side Leicester in the Premier League, including a goal in each of his last two appearances at the King Power Stadium.

Re: Leicester City v Burnley - match thread
The worry is that we always seem to be getting players injured in training.

Is Cornet playing left or right? FotMob has him on the left with McNeil right.

Re: Leicester City v Burnley - match thread
The team that most people wanted, I think we have a great chance this afternoon, I'm not normally optimistic when it comes to football, I just hope we can put in a performance that lasts 90+ mins.
Re: Leicester City v Burnley - match thread
Yeah true. It's a very flexible lineup. If Vydra was to come off in the second half, SD could even do something like JBG on with Cornet moving up with Wood.

Re: Leicester City v Burnley - match thread
I agree, Elizabeth, I am pleases to see Vydra and especially Cornet in the team, but I am still concerned that our usual midfield twosome will be outmanned and out-thought in our weakest area. I hope I’m wrong and they can get some good forward moves going, but I’m not confident.
