Honestly
Wood is not the answer.
I'm probably going to get slagged for this but Wood is not a good striker.
No pace. Just a long ball hitman. Turn and hope.
We need a fast frontman.

Re: Utter crap
Agree. Krul on Vydra the main one but on replays it did look like Krul may have some of the ball. If it was that clear and stonewall VAR would have got involved. Other than that nothing came close to being a pen (Hanley clip on Vydra was outside the box).
Re: Utter crap
Don’t think we played badly first half, the fact neither side had the quality to beat the other speaks to the fact both may well finish in the bottom 3.

I enjoyed most of the match. Our problem is as everyone knows, scoring. Our strikers are not good enough. Previous seasons don’t count. Vydra looked the most dangerous and puts a shift in

Re: Utter crap
By the way 1 penalty maybe against Krul but the rest not. One was even outside the area.
Re: Utter crap
The sky sports reporter did. Said vyds had a better punch landed on his head by Tim krul than some boxer or other managed when being paid to hit another one some time maybe last week.
Sorry, but I got what he meant, but he might as well have compared it to strictly come dancing.

Wood will be away for around 6 weeks in Jan/Feb 2022 playing in World Cup qualifiers for NZ.
We may be well adrift of safety come that stage as it not to matter too much.

Re: Utter crap
As per last week v Leicester, the moment Vydra went off we became ineffective. Long hopeful balls up front handled easily by Hanley in parrtcular. We must have more one footed players than any other PL side -and it shows. McNeil, Taylor and JBG, the minute they get into a position where they need to use their right foot, the attack breaks down or they lose possesion. By contrast the number 2 and 30 for them were a constant threat. For us there was no synergy in the last third between the crosser and our forwards. Taylors crosses from good positions were at times shocking. These are PL players that have got to the top division in the world. Roll on when we have Roberts and Cornet fit. We also need a striker in January who has a goal scoring record because Rodriguez and Barnes just cannot take a half chance, or easy chance. On a positive-well done Nathan Collins who showed great composure and reading of the game. Has a great futureTheOriginalLongsider wrote: ↑Sat Oct 02, 2021 8:11 pmI enjoyed most of the match. 3rd lowest scoring team in the PL last season (the other 2 are now in the Championship) so last season did count and should have acted as a signal to manager and board to act and bring in a striker.

At least we’re not Norwich fans. They think they put in a great performance today. If we played like that some of our fans would be hysterical. Credit to them for bringing a good following to watch that dross. Christ, Ashley gets **** on here, imagine if we had bought that Sargent for €11M

Re: Utter crap
tough division, hard opponents, much tougher to come.
despite the poor start we will survive. and that is the reason our manager is employed.
there is little chance of entertaining football at this level, its a dogfight every week.
the players we have are not clueless lazy *******, but do their collective best.
Dyche has not been found wanting over several seasons, and that is why his contract deal was finalised.
the anti dyche and player posts are nothing short of embarrassing.

Dwight playing inside doesn’t help. Only Charlie crossing from the left today, and he’s not as good as Dwight. We look best when Dwight is hugging that line, I think.boatshed bill wrote: ↑Sat Oct 02, 2021 8:16 pmFor me Wood looks better when McNeil crosses early, not seeing much of this at present.

Re: Utter crap
If we were crap I'm glad I don't support Norwich. Worst team I have seen in years. They were lucky that:
Vids went off
We were crap past the half way line
We didn't get at least one pen
It was one of those days when, no matter how wide the goals., the ball wasn't going to go in
We didn't actually play that badly. The final ball was crap but it was one of those days. Unfortunately, it happened against a bloody awful team. We will play worse and win.
We are disappointed with a point but they will be jumping through hoops at getting a point.
After seeing them, I honestly think they have no chance. They are worse than the previous team that went down.

Having had time to reflect we were just short of some quality crosses from the left side in the second half, Taylor and Dwight did well but they often over hit them. We had chances but just didn’t have the quality on the day. We do need a higher profile forward though in January.

Re: Utter crap
Typical over-reaction on here.
We weren't that bad. I thought our crossing was poor but we attacked them and definitely should have had a penalty and perhaps Krul should have gone.
We are still fighting and we know that we will be competitive all season. Veteran characters when it gets hard later in the season.
Anyone who thinks we have a God-given right to roll over weaker teams have clearly forgotten how we survive each year.
That penalty decision gets made correctly and we probably win comfortably.

People forget that he had about 4 good games last season. Scored a trick one game and is credited for an amazing performance against Arsenal when Xhaka kicked the ball at him - his celebration that day said it all.
One of our worst performing players in the past two seasons.
