Totally out thought a team that has not been beat away this season.
Fantastic performance that on another day may have produced up to 2-3 more goals!

I'm no sure he out thought them.
They were poor , all over the place at the back and with a keeper that looked our of his depth.
We were good first half and maybe deserved more than 3 goal margin.
We did pretty much as we always do I just think that they have no clue how to deal with us as they haven't been playing us for yrs. Other team now have a plan for us and Brentford didn't or at least haven't work out how to play against us.
That aside much needed win and bit of relief

Re: Let's hear it for dyche!
Great way to celebrate 9 years anniversary as our manager. Superb win today, let's hope that turns the corner. A lot of squawking this week about hoofball and being effectively 'anti-football' so it was good to see us play good football and certainly nothing like a long ball game.
Congratulations on the win and 9 years Sean, and heres to many more.

Re: Let's hear it for dyche!
I think when you field Cornet, Wood, McNeil and JBG you re more likely to outfox any of their tactics, more so than two big front men, which whilst working in the early days, and once part of our DNA, but wquite easy for a back three to defend againstalboclaret wrote: ↑Sat Oct 30, 2021 7:22 pmI'm no sure he out thought them.

Re: Let's hear it for dyche!
Fitting for the lads to mark Sean's 9th year in charge in style.
Yes Brentford were poor, especially in the 1st half, but we still had to take advantage of that, and we did in ruthless fashion.
2nd half was always going to be flatter after that brilliant first 45, but we still saw the game out fairly comfortably.
I don't expect much at Chelsea, but after that we have on paper a decent run of fixtures where you'd hope we'll collect a decent haul of points prior to Christmas.
Vital to finally get a win on the board, and at long last a home win, that now gives us something to build on in the coming weeks.
We should have learnt never to doubt Dyche, as every time we've needed a result we've usually found one.

I hope he, and the new recruitment team, can find a couple more players of the same quality as Cornet then Sean will be able to show us what he really can do with a talented squad.

Re: Let's hear it for dyche!
I just think he picked the right starting lineup with Cornet, Wood, McNeil.
Re: Let's hear it for dyche!
Interesting to hear Sean talk about Max Cornet and how they are working out his best role and team formation ... and it definitely looked as though they have found it, in that 1st half as aVino blanco wrote: ↑Sun Oct 31, 2021 12:20 pmI hope he, and the new recruitment team, can find a couple more players of the same quality as Cornet then Sean will be able to show us what he really can do with a talented squad.
4-3-2-1 with both Cornet and McNeil just behind Woody but moving seamlessly into 4-3-3, 4-4-2 or 4-5-1 to hold midfield ... in the 1st half Brentford looked lost and we went through them at will.
We were playing it long and short ... Yup a couple more like Cornet and we definitely would not be down where we are at the moment for long

Re: Let's hear it for dyche!
I haven’t checked so could be wrong but isn’t our record at Chelsea better than at any other of the big six? I think we have got more points there than anywhere else.
This is NOT predicting a win on their current form but just saying stranger things etc.
Re: Let's hear it for dyche!
Brentford were very unlucky not to get at least a point against them with the Chelsea keeper making a string of top class saves.

"Fine margins"
A brilliant save from Pope at 1-0 makes all the difference.
but no one could possibly disagree with SD's selection or tactics yesterday.

Yes orher teams do have plans how to handle us. But with Cornet and McNeil together in the line up they may have to think again. Brentford were poor and particularly so in the air at the back. You have to be pretty good to do that. Many teams are just not good enough to do.it.

Re: Let's hear it for dyche!
Can't be bothered to check, but I do obviously recall the famous 3-2 opening day win in 2017, and we've also earned a couple of creditable draws there during Sean's tenure, one when Jose had his memorable meltdown over Barnes tackle on Matic, and the other when Hendrick scored a blinder on the night we guaranteed our PL safety.
Chelsea is one of the few PL teams who we boast a better record against away from home as opposed to at TM, so although I'd rate our chances of getting a result next week as slim, it's not beyond us to nick at least a draw, however we will probably need them to have an off day, and we'll need to be at our best if we're going to get anything at SB.
I'm fairly relaxed about the Chelsea match, as to me anyway it can be classed as a free hit, where we need to pick our points up is when we play those sides in the middle to lower half of the table, and generally we've been doing that this season, our failing his been turning those draws into wins, and if we can start doing that on a regular basis we'll be fine.

If we kept the Chelsea game to the same score as the recent Man City, for me that's a great result. Then we can press on

I'd say playing a high line against a "long-ball team" did them no favours.
Re: Let's hear it for dyche!
The way Brentford had them pinned back suggests they certainly don't like long balls into their box. But as you say, a similar result to Man City will be ok.warksclaret wrote: ↑Sun Oct 31, 2021 8:20 pmIf we kept the Chelsea game to the same score as the recent Man City, for me that's a great result. Then we can press on

Re: Let's hear it for dyche!
Things seems to be improving slowly away & whilst the performances remain relatively decent more often than not results will surely follow, I think it'll be the kind of season where feeling & emotions will quickly change on a result based basis so it's important not to get too carried away & take 1 game at a time, hopefully Brentfords a springboard to try to progress up the league.

every club has amongst its ranks doom mongers and rabble rousers to bin their respective managers.
moyes,

dyche
arteta
west ham in particular are a rancid example, virtually pleaded on a daily basis for moyes to get the boot, but now look at the club ! they, like the arteta out mob have crawled , literally crawled back into the shadows like the woodlice they are. Dyche is clearly worthy of his post, and most serious supporters know it.

Re: Let's hear it for dyche!
It wasn't you are right. But it almost was twice in the secind half!!! Still not to be recommended uless you are a very top team. A good throw or kick from the keeper can set up an attack. Liverpool do this a lot.boatshed bill wrote: ↑Sun Oct 31, 2021 8:24 pmThough playing out from the back wasn't their undoing.
