Pope save from toney

Post by Manc_claret » Sun Oct 31, 2021 7:58 pm

Did anyone see Watkins'goal for villa today?
Almost carbon copy of the save Pope made from Toney in the first half yesterday.

Could, and should, have been a goal. Magnificent save!

Yep could have been a very different game and could have well been still searching for our first win but for a great save by Pope

I think Nick needed that save, that game and that win, as we all hope he will now go on to soon reach the same heights as the past two seasons. A Nick at the top of his game is worth the equivalent of two goals each match

Great to see him go down and use his hand rather than his feet. Very good save.

I liked his pluck out of the air with one hand. Play may have been brought back for offside, or other infringement, but the take was awesome :)

few shaky moments an excellent save that changed the game though, hopefully a return to peak form after the summer he had.

Agree with Vegas Claret, a potential season changing moment. Great reactions by Pope to get down low to save Toney's shot.

Saves Wednesday and Saturday must have increased Pope's confidence and the defence.

Pope has been playing very well for a number of weeks now, despite a few posters on here trying to pick faults in everything he does.

Thought his kicking was more assured too. Nick has missed a huge tournament in the summer so may have been quite down. Looks to be getting back to his real form.

Excellent save. I know this post is about Pope, I thought his kicking was exceptional on Saturday, but JT stopped a certain goal on the line first half.

The Tarky block was excellent as was Pope's fantastic save.

Agree but he missed the tournament with injury and we’ll never know how bad that was. Good to see him dominating his area again.

Noticeable that he has started to command the penalty area after Southampton’s set piece goal. Think someone has a word in his ear.
