Not looking likely, Dyche isn’t in the bookies top 20 candidates for any role apart from England (strangely enough).

Re: Dean Smith is potted
For me another example of a club getting rid of manager after a 'bit of a blip'. I thought Smith was the right fit for Villa with some innovative ideas and they play some attractive football. Its only a few months since they lost there talisman. It was also only a couple of months ago that the media were shouting for Arteta's head and look where Arsenal are now. 12 months ago Moyes was heading in the same direction and look where WHU are now. Managers and Coaches need time to develop a team, it can't be done overnight. Too many good managers are being discarded too soon.

Re: Dean Smith is potted
I posted after the Arsenal game (three games ago), that I thought he was the next PL manager casualty. Several replied saying Ole would go before him. Whilst this did not happen Bruce and Farke were dismissed marginally before Dean Smith. Always thought at best Smith was a good Championship manager. At Villa he had an open cheque book, Shakespeare as his right hand man, a "set play" coach, John Terry until recently plus significant coaching team
Re: Dean Smith is potted
The first half at Soton didn't help Smith's cause, they were a shambles exemplified by a hand written note sent on to the pitch for what looked like the attention of 4 players who it appeared didn't know what they were doing out of possession.

Newcastle (prior to takeover)
Everton and possibly Palace were the only three clubs that worry me that Sean might go to.
A lot changes quickly and at the moment none of those seem plausible.
I think it will be at least next summer before other links surface.

Me too. But a quick look at skybet suggests they think Warnock at 50/1 is more likely to end up at Villa than Dyche...dandeclaret wrote: ↑Sun Nov 07, 2021 2:30 pmThis is the one club potting their manager, who concerns me about ours.
Either we've nothing to worry about or there could be some real value around...

For me there is only one team in the league that would go after Dyche and that is Leicester.
If Rodgers ends up at United in the coming weeks I could see that potentially happening.

I think you are "on the money". SD very highly rated by Leicester. Kettering to Leicester is about 40 mins. Woan would have the same sort of journey from NottinghamNewcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 07, 2021 8:33 pmFor me there is only one team in the league that would go after Dyche and that is Leicester.

I think they are a team that would support the Dyche ethos. I also think the fans are quite realistic and would support himwarksclaret wrote: ↑Sun Nov 07, 2021 8:41 pmI think you are "on the money". TBH, the only upward move I could see opening for SD, unless of course we were to get relegated, which would increase opportunities.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 07, 2021 8:48 pmI think they are a team that would support the Dyche ethos. Re: Dean Smith is potted
Aston Villa have no interest in Dyche.
Palace had no interest in Dyche this summer.
Everton have had multiple vacancies and he’s still here.
Leicester, never in a million years.
Whilst Sean Dyche does a good job for us he is far from attractive to other clubs.

I agree with every other club but I think Leicester play a relatively similar style, with a lot more quality.arise_sir_charge wrote: ↑Sun Nov 07, 2021 8:56 pmAston Villa have no interest in Dyche.

Dyche to Leicester, Tarks to Leicester in the summer. I could see it happening.

Re: Dean Smith is potted
Talked to quite a few Villa fans this afternoon in the bar after our County League walking football games. Several mentioned dressing room atmosphere had turned against Smith, others point to the less than impressive way Buendia has fitted in as Grealish's replacement. Most sounded disappointed he had been sacked.
Re: Dean Smith is potted
I suspect Brendan Rodgers would be seen in the same light as David Moyes at Man U.
A job that might be too big for him. Man U. are a global brand, which requires a strong character.
Does Rodgers have that ability to control things at such a big organisation?

Hoping it’s another situation where although he should really be considered, he gets overlooked.dandeclaret wrote: ↑Sun Nov 07, 2021 2:30 pmThis is the one club potting their manager, who concerns me about ours.
The exact kind of job that I think would be massively tempting to him… similar to Everton, or maybe Newcastle with the new money.
Genuinely believe he would push a club like that on. He seems to be a victim of his own success with us. He’s pigeonholed as unfashionable, pragmatic and too ‘industrial’.
For me he’s very astute, and a tremendous man manager. We’ve gone through a few sticky patches, but he genuinely comes across as unflappable.
Hope he’s overlooked for a good while yet and manages to pull off another miracle (7th finish/cup final or similar) before he moves on.
We’ve been luckier with Dyche than a lot on here appear to appreciate.

Re: Dean Smith is potted
I think Brendan Rogers will stay put. He is on the back foot right now, with the club failing to win games, and conceding regularly. He will want to turn it round. In fairness their injury list is significant, particularly in the "full back area", Vestervelt is out of favour and Forfana recovering from a serious injury. I think Leicester will start winning soon allowing Rogers to increase his credibility again
Re: Dean Smith is potted
Stevie G is totally unproven. Sean will laugh at the suggestion, he is clueless about the PL.

Re: Dean Smith is potted
Dunno, he did alright at Liverpool and Celtic, both very big brand names in football.
Could say he was unfortunate not to win the league at Liverpool.
If Utd fans viewed him in the same light as Moyes then that would just confirm what most of us think about them, they're deluded morons.

Re: Dean Smith is potted
I never usually feel sorry for premier league manager that get sacked when their payoffs is equivalent to a lottery win.
As for Dyche, I have always suspected that forest would be the biggest risk of losing him.

Re: Dean Smith is potted
A villa fan today said he wasn't sure about Gerrard because he's a more defensive manager. He preferred the sound of Martinez.
I think they should have kept with Smith and this will cost them. They aren't all that, and it only will take a couple of injuries and they could be in even worse form.

Re: Dean Smith is potted
There’s no chance Villa will be in for him. His style is still anathema to a lot of clubs and the fans wouldn’t be on board (look at the reaction Benitez is getting at Everton or Nuno at Tottenham - they were booing his decisions 10 games in). Throw in the big payoff now needed and there’s no chance.

Gerrard being lined up for the Villa gig, he's done well at Rangers, but the PL is a completely different challenge.

Not convinced by Gerrard. Been in a league where you either finish 1st or 2nd and only managed first once. Hardly been convincing this season either

He did well in Europe with Rangers to be fair, but his biggest pull will be his name and contacts in football.Local cricketer wrote: ↑Thu Nov 11, 2021 7:42 amNot convinced by Gerrard. Top talent would rather sign for a Liverpool legend than Smith. One of the first things Jack Walker realised was Don McKay although doing a decent job would never attract the top names in football, so he went and got Dalglish in who attracted the big names.
