Mad rollercoaster of a game. We looked vulnerable every time Palace attacked but they were the same on our set pieces. Minimum 2 midfielders desperately needed in January because the 3 we have don’t make a decent one between them. Cornets goal though….wow! I just put my hands on my head because I didn’t believe what he’d just done! What a player we have

Ratings are all over the place looking at others. First of all I'd say our general play was pretty good. I think this season we've looked better on the ball than in previous seasons. We have this alarming habit of switching off at crucial times though. All three of their goals were pretty poor. Some strange marks to certain players, although it's quite hard to mark them tbh as it was a mixed bag across the board.

All in all, we again matched one of the in-from teams in the league, and on another day, with a bit of luck and a decent ref, we'd have bagged all 3 points. Most pleasing aspect for me was the way we forced the second half and were positive after a pretty poor first half.

Pope 5 - Seems a bit more timid than normal
Lowton 6 - Kept Zaha pretty quiet, didn't do much going forward
Taylor 6 - Maybe culpable for some of the goals, seems to lose concentration at key stages
Mee 6 - Great goal, not great for the ones conceded
Tarks 7 - Superb second half, pretty average first half
JBG 6 -Thought he looked tidy and a bit sharper than recently
Brownhill 5 - Few misplaced passes let him down
Westwood 5 - Not his best day, but not as bad as people are saying
Wood 7 - Another goal, and should have had another until he was pulled back. Did well considering his travels
McNeil 8 - Thought he was superb today.
Cornet 7 - Still think we should end up playing him where he can receive the ball more. His quality is breathtaking at times.

Jay & Vydra not on long enough, Vydra's scuff was so frustrating as his touch was sublime.

Make no mistake, they are a dangerous team, a point in the grand scheme of things is no mean feat. When are we going to get a ref who gives us something?

My first game on for a while, was worth going just to see THAT goal. Overall happy with a point at the end, but we could be 4 points better off if vids had done slightly better against chelsea and palace at the death. Palace are a good side, we're not far off picking up more points

Pope 7 – Couldn’t stop the goals. Well placed for the Zaha shot – did ok
Lowton 6 – Struggled with Zaha at times, but most do
Tarkowski 6 – battled with the physicality, but Palace’s slick passing caused problems all afternoon
Mee 6 – as Tarky
Taylor 6 – struggled first half but did better second and managed to get forward more
Gudmundsson 7 – I thought this was his best game for a while
Brownhill 5 – He can’t keep possession and therefore gives the ball away too often. Terrible shooting, both dead ball and in open play
Westwood 6 – Poor first half, but improved second half. Good dead ball delivery
McNeil 6 – Teams double up on him. Still our most gifted midfielder
Wood 7 – good header and caused their defence problems
Cornet 7 – What an incredibly good volley – a bit isolated otherwise

A few points..

A really entertaining game, for those who say Burnley in the PL is boring, predictable etc, take another look please.

I still believe if we are relegated, it will be down to our midfield. We were overrun far too often in the first half. It was a really slow start and Palace could have been three up after 20 mins. Westwood starts too deep, almost sitting on Tarky’s lap. We invite pressure and Palace were great at cutting through us. Credit to them too – they have improved under Viera.

We improved second half, starting on the front foot and a wonder goal from Maxwel.

We could (and should) have won it at the end, but a draw was a fair result.
