We need to rock the stadium tomorrow

Post by LoveCurryPies » Tue Dec 14, 2021 9:33 pm

Massive game tomorrow and we fans really need to be vocal. Let’s get in the Christmas spirit and party! Drown their supporters and leave no doubt that we believe in the team.

See you there!

Crucial match and I'm sure the fans will get behind the team.
Let's hope they put in a performance and get a deserved win.

Less fans means more echo so there should be a good noise.

Not sure about drowning their fans though, that seems a tad extreme.

Mines a 2 hour journey each way. Others even more. Can’t understand why those living in Burnley wouldn’t want to be there.

Listening to Sean at weekend, I think he was saying the same as the OP via the back door.

Sean rarely bigs up the fans in his post-match interview but he did so after the West Ham game. I found this a little strange, as we were that good at weekend with Hammers fans taunting the similarities to t'Turf being akin to a Library ;)

I think we have one of the oldest fan bases in the league, doesn’t help with atmosphere I'm afraid.

Along with no young uns being able to get tickets for the CF.

Attacking football with a win will help though.

Hope you get it going.

Have we? I didn’t know that. How do we know this? I know on here anyone under 90 gets called ‘son’ but I wasn’t aware we were a particularly old bunch of fans. Is there a designated zimmer park? Are the old Suicide Squad turning up on mobility scooters? I’m sitting here imagining a fight breaking out in the Martin Dobson that resembles a scene from Sean of the Dead. No wonder there are always queues for the toilets 20 minutes into the game.
Actually now I understand the poor atmosphere. Too many guys sat there comparing prostate stories. I know how it feels guys...I’m a three times a night man these days...and I don’t mean sex.

Booster jab at 5.00 in Darlington, added to getting up for work at 4.00, means I'm going to miss it.
I've missed more games this season than the last 10 years added together, gutted.
Agree with the OP, the fans can make so much difference to the players on the pitch, they need us .

More a general point if that people are unhappy with us at the moment (and the posts from the thread starter suggest he is) then its probably best to stay away for a game

Whenever I get really annoyed with a performance or a run of form I sometimes just miss a game and I get the bug back in time for the next game

That’s good though. So many who still have the passion. I wonder though if we do enough to attract kids who all want to follow the big club hype of the PL (and the media). Stanley do massive amounts in schools in the area to try to get them interested in football (as opposed to the big club glamour hype) but not sure even that is working. It’s sad that the game seems to be slowly getting the life crushed out if it by the PL and in particular the ‘we want everything’ big six.

I’ve been saying it for a while. The biggest challenge football clubs have moving forward is attracting young fans to the game.
We are slowly moving towards a premier league/ football league streaming service. I think covid has actually expedited this.
Once that kicks in I imagine attending football games will slowly die.
A lot of my mates all 28 or younger have simply given up attending matches now. The cost is too high and most clubs have very little to play for. Most clubs have no chance of winning anything.

But most teams in the top flight had a chance of getting into Europe or winning a cup, it wasn't the closed shop it is now. Look at Leeds getting promoted in the early 90s and winning it the following year.

Or look at Leicester getting promoted in 2014 and winning it in 2016. As undeniable as it is that English football has become increasingly hard to navigate for those teams outside the ‘Big 6’ in the last few decades, the fact is that in 28 years of the Premier League era, 7 teams have won the title. In the final 28 years of the old First Division, 8 teams won the title. Not to mention the likes of Fulham, Burnley, West Ham, Leicester, Wolves getting into Europe in recent years.

So true. Even in the microcosm of the PL most clubs ‘ambition’ is to survive and that cannot be good for the game. Even within the executive big six club the main ambition seems to be the Champions league for half of them (or at least Spurs and Arsenal). Even a big club like Everton are on a run that could easily see them in the relegation battle (especially if they lose to us). Gone are the days when Forest, Villa and Derby could win the league (what an era that was for the midlands eh?). I think this is why the Championship appeals to so many (great crowds...better than most top flights around the world) because there is actually competition. And even though the PL money is now seriously affecting that competition it still throws up the likes of Coventry and (😥) even Rovers into the mix.
Oddly I think I even see Stanley as much as Burnley and I have to say I find it incredibly enjoyable. I’m still a Claret through and through because you can’t throw away 60 years plus of loyalty but I can now go elsewhere and be just as entertained and that choice is slowly being threatened in my opinion.

Every home game the majority of fans do not sing until there is something to sing about. Compare that to other sets of supporters who create a fantastic atmosphere regardless of how the team is playing. Palace comes to mind. Our home ‘support’ is poor compared to our away support. We’re not on our own but let’s not kid ourselves that TM is a bastion of vocal support come what may.

Yes! I got as far as Stoke A500 turn off. Now back at Hilton Park but South not North!
Charging for home.

I don't understand how it can be so late, given the distance that their own fans have to travel.

Seems to me that they had some injuries and managed to produce some positives, just when they need it!

Ever the cynic!

I got all the way mate. Again!!

Two 600+ mile trips in just over 2 weeks and not even seen a ball been kicked !!

There must be a reason why we do it ……
Glass very full, is our reason.
We always think it is on, even when it may not be, so make the journey.

Yesterday was despicable though. I do think Watford have found enough positive tests to ensure postponement. They feared playing us at this time. Another day they may have a better chance.

Easily done.

They have a 25 man squad. They only need 14. We played matches with a dozen players and some kids.

I had my boots on, just in case!
