Villa, Brentford, and Southampton also linked so unfortunately... that ain't happening.
He'll probably end up at Villa in that case.

I'd be tempted with taking someone like Eddie Nketiah on loan. He's stated he wants first team matches and Arsenal will want a good price.

As such he comes to us in order to bud up his reputation. Yep, means we are a shop window for him but it serves all parties.
scored 3 tonight

Nketiah is poor, I'm a big believer in Solanke and always have been because I saw the raw potential, I don't see much potential at all in Nketiah.

Says we had a 200k bid turned down in the summer but should be enough to get him now.
Owners trying to get their cash back I think.

I still can’t get my head away from Lynden Gooch having something in him

I know he’s 25 now and not the lad he was in Sunderlands prem relegation year but. Only 25! And On a free in the summer.

Joe Aribo looks awful. I'll admit I don't know much about him but his YouTube video makes him look useless. A big lad, yes...but not a great footballer. Let's not forget that YouTube videos are great at making everyone look like a world-beater - not this lad! Doesn't look like an improvement on what we already have.

2 more injuries to defenders tonight for Leicester, I can see them coming in again for Tarks in January at this rate, which might not actually be a bad thing from a BFC perspective, as at least in that scenario we'd get some fee for him, whereas if he leaves in 6 months he'll walk out the door for nothing.

Would still prefer Tarks leaving for nothing after preservyour PL status than going down with a few in the bank.

Similar things were said about Brennan Johnson when I highlighted him 12 months ago.

Looks like he will move to premier league rival for 20m now

if we have to sell him I'd take 15 million for Tarks and immediately offer it to Liverpool for Philips (doubt we'd get him tbh)

A few months I'd have shared your concerns, however Collins has shown that he's more than capable of stepping up to the Prem.

And even keeping hold of JT doesn't guarantee survival, as great as he's been for us these past few seasons.

I guess it will depend on how much Leicester are willing to pay for a guy who's out of contract in a few months, anything around £10m, and we'd surely have to at least give it serious consideration.

I think they may want more than that, but if Tarks is going then it is very much a case of how it feels inside the club. Fortunately SD is the one who needs to know how the squad functions, I think his say will go.

I agree that Collins looks a player and we’d all feel more comfortable if Tarks left now than we would have been if he left in summer. But he’s not really had a prolonged run in the side. I think we need Tarks’ experience in what could end up being a very close race. You then have to consider that you’re left with only two senior CB’s for the season, so any injuries to Collins/Mee would be potentially terminal.

As for the fee, I still think £10m is light. Assuming the PL placements are still £2.5m per place, I think you could easily make up a good chunk of £10m with the points that a solid defence could earn.

And this is all assuming JT would agree to be sold. If you assume Leicester (or whoever) would hold the same interest in summer, I can’t see why he’d let us take a £10m fee he could pocket himself. In that sense, Newcastle might be the only team that could pay what other clubs might offer in summer and a fee to us. Daren’t even think about that scenario.

I agree that Collins looks capable, but if we allow Tarky to leave in January, that leaves us with Long & Thomas as back-up, should something happen to Mee and/or Collins, which isn't a situation I'd want to see us in

On top of that, whatever the fee would be for Tarky, we need to give Brentford 27.5% of it

Is the sell on fee not on any profit made, not on the actually amount paid?

Possibly. Either way they will get a sizeable chunk of it (relative to either club size)

Yes that's true, and given the amount of games we'll likely have to cram in to the final few months of the season due to other teams crying off, I suspect we're more likely to see Tarks depart in the summer on a free, as any fee would be negligible compared to what we potentially stand to lose in the event of relegation.

I see Tarks staying til The end of the season tbh. Any agent worth his salt will be working in securing his 10% of a MASSIVE signing on fee. And JT will be looking forward to the other 90% of it.

I tend to agree, the only caveat being if a club turn his eye with more potential of going to the Worldcup by playing first team football with them for the rest of the season.

It doesn’t matter what team he goes to, Tarks is not going to make the World Cup squad.

The media pick the England team from their media darling sides
That explains how some of the very average players get the nod over stars like Nick Pope, Charlie Taylor, Ben Mee and Tarks all get passed over despite top performances
This is a fact .

To be fair he’s pretty spot on. Pope has been in and could probably be third choice ahead of Johnstone but definitely behind Pickford and Ramsdale now.

As for the Ben Mee, Charlie Taylor and Tark suggestions by the previous poster - he’s miles off it and is known on here for saying our team is better than everyone else. I mean he suggested he’d have Ashley Barnes over Tammy Abraham.

So Cody, White, Godfrey, Mings, Keane have all played better then Tarky or Mee? and i will make it easy pick 3 LB ( and I mean LB not LWB) better than Charlie.

There only hold back is they are not playing for a big top six. This isn't with claret tinted glasses, I just dont see any better, and if they were in a better team i dar say they would shine more

Surely there’s a reason they aren’t playing for a better team?

All of the CBS you mentioned are better. They are all quicker and better on the ball. The following CBS are probably all higher in the pecking order aswell:

Konsa, Gomez, Tomori, Geuhi.

In terms of left backs there’s quite a few tbh:

Chillwell, Shaw, Mitchell, Justin, Targett, Cresswell.

Southgate has already proven he would prefer to play some of our better right backs if the first choice left backs are missing as well.

Look our lads are great for us no doubt. There just not at that level.

Totally disagree, even just looking at left back Charlie has back pocketed everyone against him, absolutely better than Shaw... remember Left back. As for centre back you really do believe Mings and White are better than Tarks or Mee? Sorry mate not agreeing with you at all. but Southgate would.

I think it has a lot to do with age, GS is always looking at future tournaments.
BM and JT will not fit his requirement.

Oh my, so Taylor is now better than Man United’s first choice left back and one of England’s best performers in the Euros?

This is added to a poster who suggested to me Lowton is better than TAA.

As for White, there’s a reason Arsenal paid £50m for him and no top side came in for Tarkowski.

We should do an UTC Burnley better than XI where each player in our starting 11 is compared to the ‘better than’ suggested by posters and see how good the team turns out.

Pope -> Pickford
Lowton -> TAA
Taylor -> Shaw
Tark -> Maguire
Mee -> Stones
Barnes -> Abraham

Who else slots in?

Oh my, so Taylor is now better than Man United’s first choice left back and one of England’s best performers in the Euros?

This is added to a poster who suggested to me Lowton is better than TAA.

As for White, there’s a reason Arsenal paid £50m for him and no top side came in for Tarkowski.

We should do an UTC Burnley better than XI where each player in our starting 11 is compared to the ‘better than’ suggested by posters and see how good the team turns out.

Pope -> Pickford
Lowton -> TAA
Taylor -> Shaw
Tark -> Maguire
Mee -> Stones
Barnes -> Abraham

Who else slots in?
I was told the other week that Brownhill is better than Pogba.

This logic on here doesn’t make sense to me, the same people that say these players should be playing for top 6 teams are also the same ones that say Dyche is working miracles.

It can’t be both ways.

It does make you wonder why we've won 1 game all season with so many players who ought to be playing for England in the side.

No you weren't told that as you full well know. You were told that they'd rather have Brownhill at the club than Pogba because they wouldn't want Pogba anywhere near the club because of who he is as a person. They didn't suggest Brownhill was better than Pogba.

Your referring to the second conversation.

The first one was different

You twisted this argument from your post 1, on the other thread. He did not say Lowton is better than TAA. He argued, repeatedly, that Lowton is a better defender than him and he is. Look at how many goals we have conceded down Lowtons side, rarer than hens teeth.

Why are we in the bottom three with all these superstar defenders?

Let’s be honest.

Tarks is a good prem defender, ok on the ball, maybe lacks an extra yard of pace. His chance in the England set up has come and gone, there are younger lads due the, albeit brief, look in that he got.

Taylor, good left back but there are better English left backs ahead of him in the pecking order. Solid, but doesn’t create a lot.

Ben Mee, Jesus, he’s a stopper, nothing more. Poor with the ball, not quick, brave as anything but any thought he’s ever been anything like good enough for England is skewed by Clarets Specs.

Pope, great keeper but simply doesn’t fit the modern style of keeper. He kicked two balls straight out of play in the last 5 mins against West Ham, that’s what holds him back.

That’s how it is and that’s why we are where we are in a £Billion league!

Nope, don’t rate him particularly. But a bit like Tatks I wouldn’t be surprised if his time as an England player has now been and gone.

As footballers, Ben Mee and Tarkowski are not as good as the other England defenders. They are a good fit for Burnley though.

Totally disagree, even just looking at left back Charlie has back pocketed everyone against him, absolutely better than Shaw... remember Left back. As for centre back you really do believe Mings and White are better than Tarks or Mee? Sorry mate not agreeing with you at all. but Southgate would.
I like Taylor alot but to say he's better than Man United's POTY last season and one of England's best players in the Euros in Luke Shaw is quite frankly laughable.

Chelsea and Arsenal both bid for White, he went for £50m and has been one of the better central defenders in the league this season.

Mee and Tarkowski can defend their penalty box fine with the midfield around them, they're both hopeless in possession and awfully slow. Both are very good in a low block Burnley system. I'd have Konsa, Guehi and White above them and it's really not even close, like not close at all.
