You twisted this argument from your post 1, on the other thread. He did not say Lowton is better than TAA. He argued, repeatedly, that Lowton is a better defender than him and he is. Look at how many goals we have conceded down Lowtons side, rarer than hens teeth.

No his words were specific that TAA is not a good a ‘full back’ as Lowton. Hence he suggested TAA would not make the top 100 ‘full backs’ in the world. Ludicrous.

I like Taylor alot but to say he's better than Man United's POTY last season and one of England's best players in the Euros in Luke Shaw is quite frankly laughable.

Chelsea and Arsenal both bid for White, he went for £50m and has been one of the better central defenders in the league this season.

Mee and Tarkowski can defend their penalty box fine with the midfield around them, they're both hopeless in possession and awfully slow. Both are very good in a low block Burnley system. I'd have Konsa, Guehi and White above them and it's really not even close, like not close at all.

Everytime a team crosses the ball into their box Guéhi looks completely hopeless when it comes to heading a ball, like he has no idea what to do.

No wonder Palace have conceded more goals from set pieces than any other team.

Connor Roberts arrived while he was recovering from injury. Since he has been fit to play the team has been gelling well. I think it bodes extremely well that SD feels he can bring him through as form dictates, not out of desperation to please fans who have no idea how close he he is to fitting into the first team.

Even if everyone stays fit, and that's a big if, our CM for one simply isn't up to the task, not without at least 1 new addition, plus Cornet will be absent for who knows how long due to the AFCON.

I don’t expect him to be critical (publicly at least) or promoting significant spending in January (last January may well still be a bit of a painful lesson).

I do however, after admissions that it will take a few windows to address previous underinvestment, after a worryingly low first half points total, after some lacklustre performances from key players and areas of the team, think that these comments are either overly optimistic or evidence of a naivety.

The growing fixture backlog on top of the obvious shortcomings in the squad are a concern. Without first team ready investment in January, I fear that this season will be a step too far.

We’ve been here before and I wouldn’t be surprised to be proved wrong, I just think it’s feeling like a bridge too far. If this proves to be the case, we’ll soon see Pace’s mettle.

He starts by saying “tough question, we’d like him to stay, looks like he has other plans, we’ll support him” - all the nice stuff you have to say. Then he says: “historically we have poor winter windows, we have a team we think can stay up [with Tarly in it], so we’re going to play this one out [run down his contract, not sell]”

That’s what I’d expect and hope he’d say. He doesn’t rule out not buying as such, more acknowledges the difficulty we have in recruiting in this window, hence selling one of your best players at that time doesn’t seem wise.

I think he’ll have been scarred from his last January window and be keen not to set expectations given how that went. I’d be surprised if he really is planning no strengthening given our precarious position and how that impacts his investment.

I still think on paper we’ve got a team good enough to stay up. We also have experience of these situations, which the teams around us don’t have.

I do fear complacency may set in though and we have to avoid that, which I’m sure Dyche will with the players but we’re relying heavily on staying injury/Covid free in the key areas. So I hope we have do have more plans than AP is alluding to at the moment…

Hi NC. From what I could sense, the majority of the answer was aimed at the Tarkowski situation and either cashing in now and grabbing a Collins-esque replacement as opposed to risking him leaving for free with our Premier League status gone. With Pace mentioning the 'philosophy' - which in my other article, he alluded to the 'underdog' tag that the club wants him to have - I'd personally say I wouldn't be too optimistic on signings going but also doubt anyone will leave. But obviously that may not be the concrete answer, and I don't want to speak on his behalf by misinterpreting something he has said and that being incorrect.

I have a concern that this COVID situation will intensify resulting in numerous postponed matches, culminating in games being played as late as July like recently. Most of them play less than ever....massive squads, squad rotation, less League games than historically, Less cup replays, not playing first team players in cup matches etc, etc...
