Maybe its a Hampshire thing; when I played cricket around said county I played in one team with a Norman House - certainly conjures up a historic building with sturdy defence.

Did read somewhere there's a Mr & Mrs Conquest somewhere in Australia who called their son Norman.
Think he was a keeper.
