That’s about as bad as it gets

Post by PadihamThickNeck » Sat Jan 08, 2022 2:37 pm

That was horrible to watch, we are so bad.

No attacking threat just lump the ball every time. We are hopeless.

We can’t even defend anymore, I think the players know what’s coming with the inevitable relegation.

The team doesn’t seem as together as previous squads.

Something needs to change and if that’s Dyche leaving then that’s what it will have to be because I can’t take much more of this ****.

I've never understood the fans who make the excuse ''we only lump it because we are financially inferior to the opposition'', it's factually incorrect.

The cup competitions have certainly shown a reluctance to change our approach against what should be inferior opposition. Perplexing to say the least.

We played in a way that kept us up vs teams with more resources. But now the team & tactics are so ingrained when we come up against financially poorer sides we don't know how to do anything else.

I don’t want Dyche to leave at all, I’d not be too bothered if he did though.

The sad fact, and the reality, is that Burnley aren't superior to sides sitting in the top half of the Championship. :x

A single PL victory and being firmly planted in the bottom 3 says as much.

I’ve never been Dyche out, even though at times I’ve found him infuriating, but I’m now of a view that I couldn’t care less if he went. He’s sucked the life out of us and some fans seem brainwashed to his way being the only possible way.

Unfortunately I don’t think it is as bad as it’s going to get. FA cup doesn’t matter. Losing to Watford does !

Yeah I just don’t get that logic at all. Huddersfield were without 7 first teamers today that they rested. In fact when a few came on in the second half we went to pot.

I remember plenty saying that last time we went down - and that was before we went on to sell Danny Ings, Kieran Trippier and Jason Shackell.

Today was garbage but the writing was on the wall as soon as the team was announced. The one left sided player in the starting 11 playing at centre half, right back at left back and a right footed cm on the left wing. The bench offered nothing and when Huddersfield made some positive subs, it was a reminder we couldn't. Having lost one of pur two forwards and gone 451, when Lowton shot us in the foot the result was largely inevitable. Even then, Tarkowski has missed a sitter at the end but I, for one, was glad there was no extra time.

I fully expected today's result so there's no crying about it from me. Much bigger fish to fry. Just need to get a couple of new fryers.

Not sure..remember many stinkers in my 50 odd years ...the defeat to 9 man Rochdale, that midweek game v Hull at the end of Cotterill's time, the Christmas home defeat to Scunthorpe under Laws....but I know what you mean. To have a teenage debutant in goal for 50+ minutes and him have neither a shot to save or cross to catch is just off the scale abysmal. Soul destroying .

Why’s anyone complaining. We’re lucky to have a club. We beat Orient in 1634 and finished 7th last season. Moaners XI.

Average age of starting XI today was 31.7.

Pace and/or energy was never likely.

You clearly weren't watching properly for most of that time then :D

Look today was poor (second half anyway) but let's not go all hyperbolic eh? Don't forget we played without an entire left side really and against a decent side with a good run of form that had to bring g on their first teamers to make an impression.

The most worry thing is how we keep ru nijg out of steam I'm the last 20 mins- it's happening too often

At last! Reality sets in. We are pathetic. We’ve got to deal with it. We’ve won 1 - yes 1 game all season. Nothing is gonna change any time soon. Can anyone on here HONESTLY say they think we have a snowballs chance in hell of getting enough points to avoid relegation?
We simply don’t have enough good players in the squad. We are lightweight in every position, with no youth players anywhere near good enough to challenge the first X1 Dads Army. Unless we sign 5 or 6 quality Prem League players in this window, the writing is on the wall. Face it, accept it, deal with it - we are relegation fodder, and would struggle to get mid-table in the Championship.

I don't think it's quite as a poor as these previous days, but the form and performances and excuses are becoming Cotterillesque.

I haven’t heard that. What I HAVE heard is “we only
lump it because our players are technically inferior to the opposition” and that’s absolutely factually correct.

Actually, now I think about it, I’m struggling to think of another club in the PL that we aren’t also financially inferior to.

Please, tell me who we can “buy” better than.

Love what Shearer has just said about the Newcastle fans today. He hopes after the game the players went and thanked the fans for their support and apologised because that performance was just not good enough. Love his frankness and I know how passionate he is about Newcastle.

And when it was that we were comfortably in front but even they then brought back most of their 1st teasers they snatched the win against a rather cobbled together side that was weaker in the 2nd half than furst

We didn’t have a second XI out.

Pope, Lowton, Mee, Tarks, Westwood, Wood.

Lennon started last couple and Brownhill has played pretty much every game this season and Cork has started plenty recently.

The facts are we were outplayed by a team from the division below, that had 7 changes and 2 debutants along with a 19 year old keeper who’d never played any senior football but didn’t have a shot to save.

Keep convincing yourself it was all relative though.
