We've struggle with the simple quick 20 yard passes recently, so I'm not sure what the answer is other than lots of work on the training ground needed.

Yes on Saturday we attempted to play a short pass sideways game, going nowhere at a snails pace and eventually passing to an opposition player. For long balls over the top for example we dont have pace to utilize it. Gray was good for that.

Seems like we are accurate with it, but then don't do much with it!

Interestingly some of there other stats has Charlie Taylor as making the 2nd most interceptions and Dwight as being 5th in the Prem for most tackles.

My 13-year-old son (at the time) made the decision a few seasons ago, along with all his mates to stop watching Burnley because of the mind-sucking football and they went to watch Accrington Stanley instead... Now 2 seasons on and at 15 years of age, he and his mates are absolutely loving going to watch Accy Stanley!... Far better football, attacking intent and a better atmosphere is what he and all his friends say now... In his heart, I think Burnley are still his number one but I have lost count of the number of fans, especially young fans that have deserted Turf Moor because of 'DycheBall'!

Strange isn't it, that most of the teams in that long ball usage list are in the bottom half of the league. I don't see City, Chelsea, Liverpool etc in there.

Strange isn't it... long period of sustained "success", yet attendances have fallen over the period, both home and away.

Teams who build their success on "long ball" / "direct" football generally have struggled transitioning to an alternative style of play whilst remaining successful.

Frankly, the less fans like this, the better. The football and results aren't great at the moment but to be so dismissive of one of the most successful managers in our history, who has brought regular Premier League football which I thought I'd never see in my lifetime, removed the Rovers hoodoo and brought some of the best times at the Turf is mindboggling to me. I suggest you all stick with Accy, and don't bother running back when we pick up some results, as you clearly don't understand what supporting the team means.

You need the best players to be good at playing short... too many mistakes caused by poor players trying to play out from the back, as we seem to have fallen for recently.

City make it look incredibly easy. Our goal kicks are true 50/50s the majority of the time, yet they roll it out from the back and are on the half way line in possession nearly every time.

Ignore stats, they are like a bikini in that they show a lot but not all. If you want to be fair Liverpool play a long ball game in the fact they play long balls which because its Liverpool they get called long pass over the opposing defence for their forwards to chase. As for the stats showing % of play per team another smoke screen in the fact that what they call pretty football is usually so many passes between their own defenders that its bound to rack up & disfigure the true amount a team hurts another team. We have continually been in the top 10 for chances created in the opposition box. So many people forget the number of times we play great football & one of the few teams who can mix it up, i did not hear anyone saying we were boring after the Palace game & again we have been in most games & lost by the odd goal.

Results have absolutely nothing to do with it!... We were still boring under SD even when we have done relatively well in terms of results. If every entertainment organisation had your attitude, they'd be out of business. There are a million and one things people can be doing on a matchday so they demand to be entertained or they will do something else... Sitting watching constantly turgid football in the cold is not something to be proud of and is the definition of insanity when watching something that is dull 99% of the time and paying for the pleasure!.. We are not still living in the 1970s!

I know lads that have been going for over 40 years home and away that no longer go. To suggest they don't understand what supporting a team means is frankly laughable.

You’d think after almost 10 years the playing style would have evolved somewhat. If anything, its the worst its ever been. Yes people are going to say ‘oh but he’s had no money to spend’ but it says it all when HIS first choice signings this year were Ashley Young and Marc Albrighton.
