Paul, do you think we had the money to get players in before this sale? If it’s right, then we still need 2 more at least
Yes. I expect there have always been plans to be active in this transfer window. It doesn't make sense to buy a club and not plan to be active. I'm sure this was the case even before we've had the results we have in the season so far. I don't have any insights on how much finance ALK have available, but an outcome as described by Ben Wickes wouldn't surprise me.

The "who and what" on incomings I've no idea. Similarly, if the strategy has included shifting some out, again, I've no idea. Surprised, at first with news of Chris Wood being an outgoing, but we need a shake up and need to score goals. Maybe a fee for CW is a bonus.

In case anyone asks: I don't see Alan Pace as inexperienced in running a football club. I'm sure he will have worked out what he and ALK need to make a success of their ownership of the club - and, that all our fans will be pleased with that success.

I remember the days all we were ever linked with was Championship players, now we are linked with some of the brightest and the best across the European continent. Exciting times, just hope we can make some of them happen.

This talk of Fofana and Onauchu suggests we mean business. These are Cornet style profiles that will turn heads. I sense Pace (as an ex Wall Street person) is a risk taker. I know some of us will be uncomfortable with that but it could be a exciting ride. Beats a boring slide down the leagues anyway.

And of course…….it may work.
Hi Crosspool, "fixed it for you" as some might say.

Exciting ride.

Exciting times.

I know it’s only a short montage but does he remind anyone else of Yaya Toure with them surging runs from midfield

Wonder why no other club has come in for him? If we fail with him we should go after his midfield partner Doucore I think you mentioned.

I did mention Doucoure on a couple of occasions. He sits a bit deeper and I think that would suit our midfield better. But this lad could do a great job either behind a striker or as a CM.

No idea why no one else is after him either of them tbh.

Sounds like Lens will want more than 30m. If the bid is true at least it shows 1. We are prepared to spend relatively big 2. We are targeting central midfield

About a minute before that Nixon suggested he was at AFCON….which he isn’t. So maybe he isn’t as switched onto this as he makes out.

if you consider they already turned a bid of 25 million down (apparently) I think he''s only saying what logic would suggest, let's hope Fofana's best mate is Cornet :D

Seko Fofana

Post by claretburns » Wed Jan 12, 2022 8:09 pm

From SSN Transfer Centre:

Burnley line up midfielder Fofana
Burnley are in talks over a deal to sign Lens midfielder Seko Fofana.

There are reports of a £14.2m (€17m) bid, although we understand no formal offer has yet been made.

Fofana is a key target for Burnley in this window.

Hi KRBFC, don't you think I've made "my point" clear on multiple occasions? You are wrong when you suggest that the club don't "have the funds available..." I've said many times that Alan Pace and ALK didn't buy Burnley FC in order to lose money and fail. We were all surprised and delighted when Maxwel Cornet was signed in August and more so when he started scoring freely. Similarly, we thought Nathan Collins was an excellent signing and Connor Roberts, though he hasn't seen much 1st team action up to now, is a statement of intent to strength and build. The January window is tougher. I don't know Ben Wickes, other than he posts on here, however, his views are consistent with what Alan Pace and ALK have already achieved in their first year at the club. I see no reason why the club won't be aiming to achieve the same in this window - and more so as remaining in the Premier League will be a lot easier than going down and then seeking to return.

Of course, we will all know on 31st January.

CT said we were struggling for finance for signings this window and Alan Nixon said we were mainly looking at loan deals, Pace expected a quiet window prior to the sale of Wood. I didn't suggest ALK bought the club to fail nor is this any kind of dig at ALK. To me when a poster is saying we are going to smash our transfer record twice, he's making it up completely given nobody expected Wood to move.

I think Ben was talking rubbish about smashing our transfer record twice in January (prior to Wood leaving) you can decide to believe him if you want.

I'll believe and listen to what Nixon/CT says instead

I think Ben was talking rubbish about smashing our transfer record twice in January (prior to Wood leaving) you can decide to believe him if you want.

I'll believe and listen to what Nixon/CT says instead
I asked you a straight forward question based on what you said which I thought/hoped you would answer. Once again you've chosen to interact in a strange defensive manner for a reason only known to yourself. Bizarre

Nixon told me Ben is wrong, I'll believe Nixon.

ah ok, so you don't actually know, you are just taking someones word for it - not saying you or Nixon are wrong, just confirming where your info has come from that's all.

I've never been one to pretend I have inside sources, you know this, I'm a normal football supporter.

hence the reason I asked where your info was from - it would be good for us all and more importantly yourself if you stopped treating simple questions as a personal attack. You come across with some really good points and then let yourself down for no reason sometimes, I for one think is a real shame.
