Dyche Leicester press conference
Wondering if the journalists who attend will ask Dyche if he can explain the club’s strategy going forward on the back of Wood’s departure. I actually think it requires a statement from Pace along those lines. The fans are always of course on the outside looking in, but it’s time we were treated with a bit of respect and given an insight into what our ambitions actually are

Good luck with that one

When asked about Wood I hope he just says “He’s dead to me” and waits for the next question

It would be nice to hear something positive from the Chairman. Sadly I cannot read or believe what SD is saying when quizzed on tricky subjects,

"I avoid commenting on other club's players" is all Sean Dyche needs to say.Burnley Ace wrote: ↑Thu Jan 13, 2022 2:37 pmWhen asked about Wood I hope he just says “He’s dead to me” and waits for the next question
Of course, he might add "We thank Chris Wood for his goals for Burnley."

Action is what we need not words, and I'll judge our business at the end of the window, not on the 13th January.warksclaret wrote: ↑Thu Jan 13, 2022 2:41 pmIt would be nice to hear something positive from the Chairman. Re: Dyche Leicester press conference
Why? What does he say. We decided to sell and we are trying to replace him. Is it news?
Sean Dyche is Burnley manager, he works ultimately with the tools provided. He like us will hope re-enforcements arrive post haste. Sean is not happy to see him go, but gave his consent, as I understand it because he and Wood have been struggling to get on for a while. Can you imagine the atmosphere in that changing room with a player “in their comfort zone” and losing?

I hope he says 'We have noticed how shite he has been for much of this season and when his agent leaked his release clause to Newcastle they snapped him up. We couldn't believe our luck and spent most of Wednesday laughing'
Well something like that anyway

I'd like that. What harm could it do. Would certainly be better than his attempts at humour he usually has to explain that he was trying to be funny.

So no comment from Dyche to the fans regarding the Wood transfer , Johnson would be proud

Re: Dyche Leicester press conference
I would be expected to be informed he had been sold, the club did so.
I am not expecting Dyche to hold a conference purely to say what he thinks of a player being sold no. I would expect him to comment on the transfer window as a whole once it has closed, that would seem the logical expectation.

Re: Dyche Leicester press conference
It seems the journalists both local and national are restricted to the set press conferences nowadays. In days gone by the local lads (and girls) would be chasing the chairman and manager for the story, which in this case is what was behind the Wood sale and more importantly what are the plans for this window and the club’s recruitment policy going forward, which goes back to my post that started this thread off

Re: Dyche Leicester press conference
Far too sensible a post for this forum, the plain facts are Wood has gone, and as I stated on another thread I'll judge the window at the end of January, so all those foaming at the mouth let's just hold fire and see what occurs over the next 17 days.claretonthecoast1882 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 14, 2022 11:55 amI would be expected to be informed he had been sold, the club did so.

Re: Dyche Leicester press conference
Yes we're now under a different regime though, and unlike past windows where there was zero links, we're now being linked to many different targets, and perhaps most importantly we've finally discovered there is a potential European market we might be able to do business in, and crucially not break the bank well doing it.
By all means if we fail to strengthen the squad by the end of this window, then feel free to criticize Pace until the cows come home, but at least wait until the window slams shut before judging.
Of course it's one thing recruiting decent players, but unless SD opts to select them, and drop some of the old guard who've been failing, it won't have the desired impact on our season that we desperately require, so the onus is on the chairman and the manager to solve our current problems as a team.

Re: Dyche Leicester press conference
Personally, I would want to refrain from judging, until the end of the Summer window.
No one likes the winter window. It wouldnt necessarily be a window we do business in.
No point throwing toys out the pram - we’ll know better at the end of the summer window. If we buy 2-3 players per summer for a few years - we’ll get back on track.
Some people just want immediate gratification. Regardless.
We could buy 5/6/7 players. Bankrupt Pace and atill go down.
Dont forget the year Fulham spent £100m and still went down?

Re: Dyche Leicester press conference
Agree with you principles but if we spend nothing we will be relegated. Then we will lose players in the summer and have a major rebuild on our hands. Can’t see players like Cornet McNeil etc wanting you play in the ChampionshipNotsosuperstevedavis wrote: ↑Fri Jan 14, 2022 3:11 pmPersonally, I would want to refrain from judging, until the end of the Summer window.

Re: Dyche Leicester press conference
Im hoping like many, we land some targets and all is well. We stay up and this is consigned to history.
But if it doesnt. We just have to be good patient fans.
