I did - I’ve also seen Newcastle’s defence and seen Watford play out from the back

Even if Watford nick it if we beat them we overtake them on goal difference.

Stop moaning now just get behind your bloody team-it’s not going to need a miracle to stay up.We have been very fortunate in the past-time to stand up and get behind the lads.

Good result, but even with the new signings, Watford looked far more dangerous and likely to score. I am not feeling quite as down about our chances. We still have hope if we can hold the line and sneak a few goals.

My wife talks a lot more sense than me at football and says that goal difference determines who is the worst side, the table can otherwise be influenced by a bit of luck.
On that basis there are 5 worse sides than us, and I think that’s about right apart from those daft errors we’ve been doing (and yes, if we continue doing them, I’ll disagree with the Mrs and say we deserve to drop).
Great Watford leveller btw, we have 4 more home games than Newcastle to come
If I was you I’d listen to your wife more before posting I remember another post you posted regarding Watford, Watford aren’t a bad side & can turn it on unexpectedly but very inconsistent I’m not confident at the turf when we play them.

Settle for that especially when Newcastle looked nailed on for 3 points, and hardly the debut Wood would have hoped for.
Gives us every chance of yet crawling our way out of trouble despite sitting bottom, one win and we'll leap up to 17th, so still all to play for.

With Norwich winning 3 games now, hate to say it we are the poorest side in the PL however you dress it up. Games in hand for us mean sadly very little with us averaging just over half a point a game this season.

I'm not sure Norwich would agree with you, the Canaries the big winners today, but it's a decent enough result for us at SJP.

Same for me.
We could have 30 games in hand, but we’re the worst side in the league (at the moment) for me, and it all stems from how utterly shite our centre midfield is.

I’m not because I don’t consider Newcastle our relegation rivals we are not in February yet & Newcastle will further strengthen, it’s Norwich Watford & our good selfs unfortunately. We are clinging to Newcastle falsely.

Well that's probably because we haven't played very often since that victory, hard to win if you can't get on the pitch I'm sure you'll agree.
And regarding games won we've won precisely the same amount as Newcastle this season, yet you seem certain they'll be safe, maybe they will, and their new signings should assist them, but make no mistake they are well and truly involved in the dogfight, and dropping those 2 points late on will be gutting for Eddie in a key game.

But they'll have to score plenty as they can't defend, nor will buying any amount of defenders help in that respect when Eddie Howe is in charge.

It’s hope & I hope that hope comes in but realistically I can’t go against what I’ve predicted & at the end of the season I’ll be honest if I’m wrong unlike people on here who say things & pretend they didn’t when things happen.

I think we’re down. They’re the only 16th and 17th placed teams at the end of the season I can see us catching at this rate.

Agree on CM, however it's hard to judge as the teams above us have played a lot more games than us, and although we're aren't great by any standard, what's giving us hope is neither are a few others, and the longer it remains tight the more the pressure will grow on every team, and that might be where our experience proves telling.

In a earlier post it said Woods effort on goal went over the bar. Unfortunately like some goals he scored for us last year he missed the header and came of the centre of his back. To me I’d be embarrassed to say that was a shot all be it when he scored around 3 goals with his shoulder last year I was quite happy. Sam Vokes had more about him when playing for us than Woods.

Wood has undoubtedly slowed down and been ponderous. He will never beat a PL centre half for speed . He also sems to have lost his bravery in putting his head where it hurts. If he has a run of 5-6 poor games the Toon will be on his back. Sadly for us we were poor with him-the question is how much poorer do we get from here with just Jay fit. We need to get Carroll signed tomorrow or Monday then also search for a proper long term goal scorer

I know after Brentford we’ve had a few games called off but in between then until now it wouldn’t be that unreasonable to suggest or expect another win would have been notched up considering the opposition we’ve faced. It’s a fair excuse how can we pick a result up when we haven’t played but we have played more than enough games since that point without delivering.

Yep fair comment, and in a normal season we'd be adrift at the bottom, however due to a few other sides struggling equally as much as we are we've still got a shot at staying up.
Today was a decent day with Newcastle and Watford both spilling points, and now we need to taka advantage of that fact, and if we can't then we'll rightly deserve to go down.

It was better with Watford equalising but let’s be honest both teams were never going to win & with Norwich winning it wasn’t all that of a decent day, had Newcastle won we would have been looking at Everton as a positive.

To be fair to Wood, the service to him was about as poor as it's been all season too
