Macclesfield FC
Not running away with the North West Counties Premier Division like they would have hoped.
Biggest budget in the league by far but they are currently 2nd on goal difference on the same points as Skelmersdale United who they play Saturday in a massive game.
Macclesfield at home and have sold over 4 thousand tickets ! For that level that is terrific support considering most teams in that league get a few hundred.
Padiham then Welcome Macc to the Arbories on the 5th Feb, be strange seeing a massive away support take over Padiham for the day will be good for the club and the local pubs I reckon they will bring over a thousand.
Good chance for anybody going on the Watford game to take in the Padiham game before going down to the Turf with it being a 6pm kick off.

Robbie Savage is in overall charge there nowadays I think.
I do keep meaning to watch this -

I watched it a few weeks ago. It’s a good watch, didn’t realise the amount of work and money they have put in to it, the ground was a right mess.GodIsADeeJay81 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 28, 2022 3:11 pmRobbie Savage is in overall charge there nowadays I think.

Good luck to them they should get a few straight promotions with the resources and money they have, be interesting to see what happens when they fall short though which could even be this season.

My wife and I live in Macc and go regularly to watch Macc FC. It’s good to watch honest attacking football and the standard isn’t too bad. Will try to get to Padiham away before our big match against Watford.

Re: Macclesfield FC
There's certainly plenty of talk about the team around town since the re-birth - I don't recall there being as much buzz even back in the League One glory days.
Not sure how sustainable the crowds are long term, given there were generally only 2500 going on in League One.
And, as for the team performance, a lot will depend how much Savage keeps his nose and mouth out. Imagine having that bellowing in your ear if you were the manager. Unless, of course, he turns out to be a great manager. you certainly can't knock the passion he has for the project.

Re: Macclesfield FC
BTW Macc are in NWC Prem because it was deemed the lowest level at which grounds would be able to cope with the likely level of away support (based on the number of season tickets sold before the club were even sure of being accepted in a league). I'm not sure what the actual level of away support is, but there's been no 4 figure attendances on the road.
By rights they should have started a level lower.

Re: Macclesfield FC
Just as long as we don't have to play them in the immediate future I'll be happy.
I can deal with getting beaten at Old Trafford etc but losing in the open pouring rain at contemptuous poxy grounds like Macclesfield was humiliating.

Savage + Sodje. Two reasons I'd be happy to see them fail.

Re: Macclesfield FC
Savage and his mate put 4m in each.
Done a brilliant job of doing the ground and facilities up that should bring in plenty of income.
Savage said he has spent bucketloads on this team to coast the division and next one before they have to spend more on players.
Sounds like they might struggle next season. All his team have agents as well. For that level is bonkers

Re: Macclesfield FC
Interestingly Tom Pope the ex Port Vale striker is playing for Congleton in the same league, got told off someone in the know he’s on £750 a week at that level.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Fri Jan 28, 2022 5:34 pmSavage and his mate put 4m in each.

And it’s nowhere near that standard at all really, for that level £50-60 a week should be the max!PadihamThickNeck wrote: ↑Fri Jan 28, 2022 5:38 pmInterestingly Tom Pope the ex Port Vale striker is playing for Congleton in the same league, got told off someone in the know he’s on £750 a week at that level.

Re: Macclesfield FC
On the Savage documentary he had a board up with budgets for certain positions and had £500 a game down for striker.
Re: Macclesfield FC
It was a good afternoon out at Macc today. 3:1 win in the top of table clash with Skem. Some of the play was quite decent- unsurprisingly some of it wasn’t. Nevertheless, 4300 hardy souls rocked up for the 9th tier clash!
Away at Padiham next week with a mad dash to get to the Turf for ko.

Plenty of time to get from Padiham.iMac wrote: ↑Sat Jan 29, 2022 9:55 pmIt was a good afternoon out at Macc today. 3:1 win in the top of table clash with Skem. Some of the play was quite decent- unsurprisingly some of it wasn’t. Nevertheless, 4300 hardy souls rocked up for the 9th tier clash!

Just go Padiham By-pass, Barden Lane and past the hospital.
Or 20 minutes on the bus from the main road.

No mad dash needed, it’s only 15/20 mins to the Turf.iMac wrote: ↑Sat Jan 29, 2022 9:55 pmIt was a good afternoon out at Macc today. 3:1 win in the top of table clash with Skem. Re: Macclesfield FC
The bloody rain that day. No way should the game have gone ahead.
I watched the programme and it didn’t change my opinion of Savage.
