So the player has decided to stay and it’s Burnley’s fault. Some absolute muppets on here.

They haven’t announced that he’s extended his contract, just that he’s staying for this season and won’t be sold right now.superdimitri wrote: ↑Sat Jan 29, 2022 9:21 amTo be honest he could have just used the internet to get a pay rise. They offered him more money to stay. He gets to stay at home with his family and two young kids.
Sadly our reputation and draw just isn't that great. We can't offer silly money to make it impossible to turn down.
Not sure it's really our fault. What will be our fault is if we don't have someone else lined up as backup.

After all the drama, Mislav Orsic decided to stay. Dinamo rejected €10m offer from @BurnleyOfficial. Mislav is a true @gnkdinamo legend and fans favourite, Bad Blue Boys can celebrate! Sorry for bad news @BurnleyOfficial fans...

Must admit, it sounded ominous when the chairman has to personally go and speak to them face-to face last night. Sounded like the deal was in trouble.

After receiving 25m up front for Chris Wood then this is **** poor from Pace.

It doesn’t actually say he has decided - if he has, and doesn’t fancy the challenge then he’s not the man for us.

But we certainly wouldn't be looking to sign him if we did go down at the end of the season.

He may have been told that he'll not play for Croatia if he's playing in the english second tier and thought twice about money vs playing for his country given that relegation looks a distinct possibility.
Re: January 2022 Burnley Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Just add him to the list including Lansbury, Bryson, Stephens and God knows how ever many others who’ve been asked if they fancy playing for Burnley and have signed a new contract with their respective clubs.
Move on. It was always going to be this way.

Need to be in the loan market, in many ways ideally suited to our position.
Player gets chance to impress and win contract, or we part ways at end of season.

Showed the video to my wife, she described Orsic as slumped shoulders and a forced smile. That’ll be their title gone, golden rule never force a player to stay against their will.
Not Burnley’s fault, DZ just caved in to fan pressure. We need to move on, fast. Origi a long shot but an option on loan or perm that could allow Cornet to go wide, something like that.

Haha, if you can't tell the difference between a singular decision regarding this player, and a general inability over 5-6 years to land targets after spending time and resources on them, then you can have the muppet badge. Whether they be 1) unrealistic in the first place or 2) We can't attract them to the club. So no, 1 player deciding not to come isn't our fault. If you think we're not inept with our transfer business in this regard, I think you're naive.

Looks like a deal was agreed with the club and player but before everything was completed, there has been a change of heart, due to fan’s reaction etc.
It’s hardly surprising when every stage of the negotiation seems to have been played out in the social media and media.

Our position does make recruitment and retention difficult. That’s why we needed to be recruiting young and promising. We just haven’t been using our potential financial clout in the past and now we’re more financially challenged we just don’t look a terribly attractive proposition, but with Cornet back there is still hope.

Where to next one wonders. I fully expect us to have a plan B, anything less would be extremely negligent.

Would Burnley being negligent when it comes to recruiting be a surprise to you? It’s pretty much all we’ve been for the last 4 years.

To us over and over again, ''Dinamo rejected €10m offer from @BurnleyOfficial. '' the Croatian fella Tweeted, appears we were haggling over pennies again, sides who mean business go and put the money down on the table and don't even allow the player time to change his mind. 29 days into a crucial transfer window and we've done 0 business aside from sell our main striker for £25m.

As posted earlier.
If Ramsey goes to CP and that scuppers the Van De Beek move to same we should be straight in for him. He wouldn't even need to move. He could get the Ashx2 taxi.

Wonder if the Ultras had anything to do with this? Perhaps getting into the player and his family for example… ?
Just seems strange that he was looking to play premier league etc.

Hopefully all our irons weren’t in one fire - either way though it will make it very difficult to push a deal through at this late hour. It presumably limits our options significantly if there are also work permit requirements to consider.
It’s a real shame as he did look as though he’d be a good signing (albeit older than I’d have preferred).
I don’t think the club can be blamed for these sort of things occurring, but by the same token, it’s not a great strategy IF we don’t have other options in mind.
