I've blocked Jakub years ago because he's insane, but can someone tell him that the twitter sources are actual journalists who posted updates which suggested that it was done and dusted

And it was, but Dinamo and Orsic have pulled out

It might be because of the structure of the deal (unlikely as that could be negioiated) but its more likely because of fan pressure*

*whether that is benign (people crying in the street pleading with him not to go) or not so benign isn't really relevant now is it?

But we do need another midfielder now for sure, and its going to be very hard to get one this late in the day after putting in the ground work for this one

Never offered enough money for the player to really want to come.

Alex James suggesting the deal was done but the player had a change in heart last minute
He was probably told he should be scared of the Ultras like the owner was. You could tell this deal would end that way as soon as that complication arose.

Not Burnley’s fault and at least we are trying to sign the right calibre of player. I still remain doubtful we will sign anyone though, as our previous transfer history has shown all too often. Push it to the last day, run out of options.

Could it be that the player was made aware that should we lose against Watford a week today he'd be all but playing in the Championship next year.

I get this "put yourself in the shop window stuff" but he'd have had to make a hell of an impact in a very poor team to get a good move.

The search for good BFC news continues. 1 win all season, and no players signed this window.

The only way is up in both respects. Squeaky bum time

1. Players agent stoking the media to get the player a better contract.

2. Burnley fc stoking the media to try and show fans a willingness to spend the Wood money.

3. Just media nonsense to raise the profile of Orsic and Zagreb.

4. Just a story that suited everybody at the time

Who knows - it's not even Monday yet there maybe another twist in the tale.

It would have been good to get him but I would agree with most that a striker and a CM much more of a priority. I wonder if Osric was being lined up as a Cornet replacement?

Given Dinamo Zagreb have lost players to the Bundesliga and Ligue 1 recently we should probably be hesitant before making up that their fans won't let the lad sign for us.

A big blow.

Looking at another thread only 15 deals done to date through out the Premier league and 3 of those were by Watford. If spent wisely the 25 million for Wood could be a blessing in disguise but not in a January transfer
window, were more often than not the buyer gets his trousers pulled down

Watford have so far signed 4 players in this January window Kamara, Samir, Kayembe and most recently Kalou.

This is a local player and their star man though. Mid season in a close title battle. Ultras literally left a banner outside his house. Bit different.

From the info I have previously been given, I’m astonished by the news this morning. I was fully expecting Oršić to be a Burnley player by the time the window closed.

It looks very much a Dinamo decision though from what I can see so there was obviously nothing left for us if they are not going to sell.

Last night I was confident of two with a potential third. I still remain very confident that we will sign Weghorst.

To us over and over again, ''Dinamo rejected €10m offer from @BurnleyOfficial. '' the Croatian fella Tweeted, appears we were haggling over pennies again, sides who mean business go and put the money down on the table and don't even allow the player time to change his mind. 29 days into a crucial transfer window and we've done 0 business aside from sell our main striker for £25m.
It happens in football over and over again. Relax

Read the statement, it read very much like “he plays for us at this time” to me.

I’m currently holding a fistful of straws btw….

Actually, I always worry until they are pictured in the longside with a scarf above their heads….

Newcastle bought Chris Wood for a quoted 25 mil. Seriously does anyone think he was worth that. Certainly not in my eyes. Yes he was important to our club as we don't have a replacement. But other than Newcastle who would pay the 25 Mil. They paid it because they had a need and it would also impact on us. We can't really do what they did with regards to turning a players head with a large weekly contract. But we have a need as we all know. We need to find a good CM before Monday 11:00pm. Maybe we have to pay a little bit extra. If we don't bring someone in our chances of survival have reduced dramatically.

All we had to do was pay the 7m up front, not in installments.
After receiving 25m up front for Chris Wood then this is **** poor from Pace.
And you know exactly what happened here do you? If so, you're the only one.

Alan Pace flew to Zagreb himself to try and get this over the line, so don't blame him.

Yes it doesn't stack up does it for a deal to get this far and then collapse; particularly, that Orsic has played in Japan and China so is clearly widely travelled and far from the Carragher or Neville of Zagreb.

All the stories about Ultras and homegrown player etc are the bog standard stuff of the media.

The stuff about money; haggling and odd payment schedules is a bit left field but unfortunately it is becoming the Burnley story. I even saw media reports saying similar about Carroll's move to West Brom.

But who knows the truth it seems to me that the ALK deal is becoming the Burnley relegation narrative in the national media and so it may also affect stories about the likes of Caroll and Orsic.

I'm the first the 1 to have a pop at the club, but it looks like we (Pace) have gone all out to get the player. It's nobody but the players fault. Hopefully we have a contingency.

If it were a negotiation tactic, it’s a spectacularly poor PR exercise. Imagine how mad their fans would be if they reneged now?

No statement/quote from him though, which I find a bit odd. Suppose they didn’t force him to do the video but only slim glimmer of hope is that it’s designed to make him force a move so that the club don’t look bad. Can’t imagine that though. It’s over :(

Gutted, but what will be will be. We really need some luck atm.

We just have to get WW over the line and keep Tarks. That's the minimum now. Lingard on loan would be ideal and a swop to 343 of course.

Has the player himself said anything about this? If so I’m not sure how he’s ****** on his chips?

From the info I have previously been given, I’m astonished by the news this morning. I was fully expecting Oršić to be a Burnley player by the time the window closed.

It looks very much a Dinamo decision though from what I can see so there was obviously nothing left for us if they are not going to sell.

Last night I was confident of two with a potential third. I still remain very confident that we will sign Weghorst.
Do you know what the delay is for Weghorst?

Don’t forget we also need a right sided midfield player. McNeil has been tried there but with limited success imo.

—————Cornet——Weghorst
McNeil——New——Westwood *——New

* Westwood or Brownhill

We just don’t have the heft in an increasingly difficult transfer market and have serially failed to develop our own players or use the loan market. That has now caught up with us.

If we still want him at the end of the season I hope we do go back for him. ****** on his chips... acting like teenagers spurned by a lass.

If we can’t attract him whilst we are a PL team there ain’t a hope in hell of us doing that in a league below.
