Everton apparently turning their attentions from Barkley to Dele Alli. Hopefully opens the door for us to go for Barkley (not that we've been heavily linked this window).

I really hope that we can pull something out of the bag.MDWat wrote: ↑Mon Jan 31, 2022 3:18 pmI don’t think newcastleclaret93 always puts his/her point across in the best way but they aren’t far wrong here.
We’ve replaced a proven Premier League goalscorer with a striker who looks like a quality replacement but isn’t proven in the Premier League.
Pre-window, it looked pretty obvious to me that we were short of quality wide right and in the centre of midfield. We’ve done nothing to rectify those problems.
Hoping for a couple of rabbits in the next 8 hours or so. Deal sheets at the ready…

But a failed window is when we don't bring anyone in, or someone who is clearly a desperate attempt to fill the squadcolne-claret wrote: ↑Mon Jan 31, 2022 3:17 pmWe needed to add to the existing squad on the 1st Jan. If we don't sign anybody we have failed to do that. In my eyes that is another failed window.
We've replaced Wood with what looks like a better bet (though no experience at this league)

Thanks for that. We are never going to grow as a club if we keep letting transfer windows go by and not upgrading. Why are we happy to settle with what we have got?
Re: January 2022 Burnley Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
If WW takes those chances then we should be absolutely fine with what we’ve got then……..jedi_master wrote: ↑Mon Jan 31, 2022 2:56 pmWood has had plenty of service and missed some glorious chances. If Wood had been doing his job correctly this season he would be on 7 or 8 and we’d be about 16th.

Re: January 2022 Burnley Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Wood made it clear that he was "In my comfort zone at Burnley." which is like syaing he didn't have to try to keep his place. Some of us were aware of that, long before he said it, and said so. Whether or not Weghorst improves things, only time will tell, but he can't do any worse.colne-claret wrote: ↑Mon Jan 31, 2022 3:16 pmYes I do and most of the games I have been to the service has been non existent. He may have missed a few chances over the course of the season but end of the day it's a team game. Is Weghorst going to be an improvement on Wood if service remains the same? I hope so but I really don't know. We really need another Defour esque player that can drive us forward from midfield. If we don't improve in this window, it has to be seen as a failure. We haven't made any improvements to the side. Hopefully Weghorst will be an improvement but only time will tell. He is unproven in the Premier league.
As for a midfielder, it's obvious we tried to bring in Orsic and no-one knows the truth about why that deal broke down. So people who blame Alan Pace, are probably wide of the mark.
As I speak, there are 7.5 hours before the window closes, so have a bit of patience and let's see what happens before being too critical.

You seem to enjoy having a dig at any post that criticises the fact we’ve failed to improve the worst team in the league (table wise). Oh well, at least the Board can say "we tried".
As always.
One thing is for sure, we will certainly need to make a number of signings in the summer or else any of us on here might be in with a chance of pulling on our boots in the Championship next season!
Clear that's where we'll be now, anyway.

If there's no further incoming, the realistic view would be that we've invested around minus £9m.
Which kinda fits with the precarious balance of our finances.
A Garlick-esque window...but with even less cash outgoing.

F**k off eh?
Striker sold, replaced by someone younger and with a better pedigree, if untested at this level
And with more than half the season left

Maybe it's not the case, but I was told there was no interest in Origi.

kind of sums his entire contribution up on this forum, nothing but whine at others without offering any kind of opinion. Funny too, he's not even a real fan, probably a Bournemouth fan on the wind up and begging for attention.

The Bundesliga isn’t much different from the Prem with some really strong teams. WW’s record suggests he will score for us

Surely those who criticise are strong enough to be criticised ? I mean be a bit hypocritical if someone is allowed to criticise everything connected to the club but their lip starts to move the minute they receive some criticism wouldn't you say ?
How do you mean our prospects ? For what ?
To stay up - exactly the same as I had after the first 6 or 7 games going to be tough this season ?

yeah always seemed very fanciful tbh. I'll be astonished if we don't bring in either a midfielder or RW though. I think WW is a top signing but to neglect the other positions is unimaginable given our position - I find it difficult to believe we can't bring in someone more effective offensively than JBGClaretTony wrote: ↑Mon Jan 31, 2022 3:30 pmMaybe it's not the case, but I was told there was no interest in Origi.

Re: January 2022 Burnley Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
It's all positive. We've managed to replace Wood with hopefully a better player and added £15m to the coffers, what's not to like. It will help us rebuild in the championship next season.

Possibly because the 4 or 5 usual suspects have told us , many, many, many times they are not happy . We get it. No need to keep saying it and having hissy fits.

I don't think we are happy, which is why AP in particular has been putting in the air miles over the past week, Orsic looked in the bag, and then for whatever reason the deal fell through, not much the club can do about that is there.colne-claret wrote: ↑Mon Jan 31, 2022 3:25 pmThanks for that. And we are now finally chasing guys who will improve our first XI, but therein lies the problem, players of that calibre are likely to have better options on the table, and if they come to Burnley it'll only be because circumstances allow us to sign them, Defour is a prime example, if he hadn't have had his injury issues does anyone seriously think we'd have been able to net him.
