Will the D of Y ever see inside a courtroom?
Re: Will the D of Y ever see inside a courtroom?
Looks like the prison cameras will be on the blink soon.
Re: Will the D of Y ever see inside a courtroom?
What can anyone do though if the Queen doesn't agree to Prince Andrew being sent over to the States?
Re: Will the D of Y ever see inside a courtroom?
If I was being pursued through a civil court for a criminal offence in America, whether guilty or innocent, I'd be pretty desperate to avoid it too. There's no need to prove guilt or innocence, the jury (not the judge) decides the case on balance of probabilities and/or their own prejudices as appropriate. And damages can be more than Prince Andrew could pay.

Hope he comes of the civil list as well and mummy stops bailing him out, just what does a waster like him actually offer to society ? Imagine him at the Job centre looking for a vacancy that pays £10,000,000 PA with free travel and accommodation for dressing up in military uniforms, cutting ribbons, opening things and going to "events" .

He will, he has returned his titles, that removes the Queen’s involvement and his immunity from prosecution. He is a civilian.. a Fitzroy type, no different in law to you or me.

If he had apologised privately and given her a few quid, he could be prancing around on a horse in military honours.
Instead he tried another route, which has backfired spectacularly.

He’s probs offered her far less ,though totally impossible to know . It’s the lawyers who are greedily feasting at this buffet .She can count herself incredibly lucky not to be in jail herself as one of Maxwell/Eps main facilitators.

The Grand old Duke of York he had ten thousand men and it didn’t make the papers. One 17yo female and you never hear the last of it.

the poor can't afford legal representation in many cases, but his wealth and status will ensure his case is swept aside without much effort. Disgrace really. so what if he loses a few titles, money and being part of the establishment has its benefits.

We should set up an inquiry, preferably with someone "fearless" at the helm, a former employee perhaps. They could offer their verdict to Andrew who would have final say on what happens next.
Justice will then be done...

Re: Will the D of Y ever see inside a courtroom?
I find these ‘settlements’ so odd. I am totally unsure how they’re allowed, but it essentially makes rich people be able to get away with sex trafficking/rape (alleged…) and worse simply on account of their richness - and it’s an open ‘secret’ that the world just accepts.
Why is it this way? Why is it allowed? Why do the authorities not have the authority to say “Erm, well yeah, you can give her money, but…we’re still obviously going to cross examine you in court as quite obviously you’re guilty as ****?”.
Blows my mind.

I was prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt and judge based on the case, but a settlement very much suggests his guilt to me. In which case I’d have preferred to see him face justice rather than pay his way out of it.

Re: Will the D of Y ever see inside a courtroom?
It’s a civil trial where the only outcome is “compensation”. What does this case have to do with the “authorities”? They aren’t involved.jedi_master wrote: ↑Tue Feb 15, 2022 4:32 pmI find these ‘settlements’ so odd. Sigh. It was always going to involve money - it's what civil courts are for. Remember, 98% of lawsuits in USA end this way.

He sold his ski chalet in Europe for £18m.
https://amp.theguardian.com/uk-news/202 ... iss-chalet
The reason the authorities don’t pursue this is because the burden of proof required in a criminal prosecution is much higher than in a civil case.
Interesting news earlier about the “photo” which the Duke’s legal team wanted to have examined to show that it had been forged. The one showing them both with the Maxwell thing. Seems no one has the original, just the digital versions. I think that is what forced a settlement as they could have lost the case entirely. No win, no fee, legal team recommended the option that sees them paid. No smoke without fire though and hopefully we’ll never hear about Randy Andy again.
