Everton fan ban
Just read that an Everton fan has been banned for 3 years, for racially abusing Dwight last September.
Surprised to read it was a 43 year old woman.
At least Everton deal with these things head on, and decent Everton fans play their part by pointing the idiots out. Well done them.

It's the courts - she's been given a three year banning order but she's been suspended from attending Goodison since that game.Colburn_Claret wrote: ↑Tue Feb 15, 2022 8:33 pmJust read that an Everton fan has been banned for 3 years, for racially abusing Dwight last September.

Re: Everton fan ban
It should be a life ban from football if found guilty, there is no excuse for it and the message needs sending out firmly.
Hats off to anyone who reported her, what an excuse for a human being she is

If you look closely that fag in her mouth is one from a packet, not a cheap roll up. I don’t smoke but guess they must be close to a tenner a packet? However, don’t forget Everton are the “community” club in Liverpool so possibly they heavily discount season tickets for incapacitated/disabled supporters like this fine specimen?

It's the "Toffee Lady"
I'm sure loads of people will remember the days when she walked around the pitch pre match throwing Everton mints into the crowd. I've had a couple off her over the years

Crikey, they are well out of reach for the honest working man/woman. I couldn’t afford to lose around £80-90 of my income on smokes, that’s my supporting Burnley FC money!claretandy wrote: ↑Wed Feb 16, 2022 2:09 pmI don't smoke either but there are a lot more than £10 a pack.

I had no idea that cigarettes cost so much. I reckon that most people are smoking 'discounted' cigarettes from dodgy shops. I'd stop it near enough overnight. Caught selling counterfeit cigarettes - you pay a 10k fine unless you can prove you bought them from a reputable, and licensed, wholesaler.

I remember the Everton sweets lady from way back but didn't know it was still a thing. I've never been on the receiving end but presumably she dishes out Everton Mints. They used to be pretty popular when I was a kid but I haven't seen them for a long time. (Now I want to get some, I recall they were nice mints you could suck for a while but then were nice & chewy in the middle).

Re: Everton fan ban
I'm glad to see it's still a tradition, shows how long it is since I was at Goodison. Little things like that are so nice in this money grabbing age we live in. Anyone remember the Arsenal chap who used to go around the pitch in red top hat and tails with a shield saying something along the lines of we hope it's a good game and we hope the best team wins. He didn't last long TBH as he continually got pelted with all sorts of stuffClaretTony wrote: ↑Wed Feb 16, 2022 7:59 pmShe still does I think. Fag woman has managed to live and breathe her dream. If you were to do a police make up picture of the person you think you saw 'do it', this is the total look of the racial abuser you would imagine!

Re: Everton fan ban
It's a bit of a regional terminology thing maybe. When I grew up in Burnley (born 1950), in my household "toffees" was a general name for sweets (not sure how widespread across the north west that was). I realize that "toffee" is more widely understood to describe a specific chewy sweet (and Im particularly fond of that-especially treacle and licorice varieties),
The lady used to dish out Everton mints though and they were made locally https://www.britishcornershop.co.uk/bas ... hite%20kit.

Aren't Everton Mints stripy and mint-like on the outside, but chewy inside - like a toffee?

Sadly yes although the players also need to take a look at their own behaviour, especially running into the crowd when a goal is scored, totally unnecessary in my view, and it can't be helping.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Thu Feb 17, 2022 12:00 pmIt think it was discussed on the match day thread that day. Vardy wound me up with his goal celebration right in front of us but I didn’t consider throwing anything at him or getting onto the pitch. I don’t know what the answer is going to be.

She’s been found guilty & from the sounds of it well deserved & hopefully she’ll learn her lesson if she doesn’t she’s a silly woman, the way she looks should be a separate entity away from this she’s entitled to be individualistic as long as she’s not breaking the law or hurting anybody.

As mentioned above- in some parts of the north west "toffee" is synonymous with sweets not just chewy toffee. In my household growing up in Burnley we called all sweets "toffees"dougcollins wrote: ↑Thu Feb 17, 2022 5:01 pmThey're not what you would traditionally refer to as a 'toffee'.

Regional terms
In Britain, Ireland and some Commonwealth countries, "sweets", or "sweeties". In North-West England, especially Lancashire, toffees is often used as a generic term for all confectionery.

Nothing wrong with a player celebrating like that after scoring IMO, all part of the game. They shouldn't need to mute their celebrations because of a few knuckleheads.
