Very good point, obviously knowledge is really vital at times like this.Lancasterclaret wrote: ↑Fri Feb 25, 2022 8:03 pmOne thing not to forget is that the Ukrainians will be getting the full on, maximum NATO intelligence
There won't be any surprises, and I wouldn't be surprised to find out that the Russians have absolutely no idea how good NATO battlefield intel is

But presumably rising energy prices increase most businesses cost bases, erode margins, reduce consumer confidence, etc?Lowbankclaret wrote: ↑Fri Feb 25, 2022 8:07 pmBecause the exposure to Russia is low. People and markets got put years ago. Apart from BP etc, but it’s very limited.
I also read (probably on here) that Ukraine produces a third of the worlds grain which presumably has disastrous consequences for food prices, etc?

No.
I was aware of them at the Maidan in 2014 and there have been more recent reports.

Oil and gas are our main concern.
Global gas prices will spiral out of control.
World wars start over resources.
Should we have no heat or electric, would we support going after it. Well that’s how wars start.

Protesting is fine, being a massive belm at protests isn't
Also attaching yourself to an object by the way of chains, glue etc is also something they'll prevent.
Like I said, nope to your original comment, protests aren't going to become illegal, they're just looking to stop the belms coming along to take them over and ruin them.

Re: Russia Invades
Only thanks to the House of Lords voting down the part where police could shut down a protest as illegal if they deemed it to be too noisy. The govt have openly stated they plan to revisit that part to try and get it through.GodIsADeeJay81 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 25, 2022 8:43 pmhttps://www.gov.uk/protests-and-marches ... olice-know

If this goes through it is open to a real abuse of powers where the govt and police use it against protests they dont like or is maybe against them and ignore protests being too noisy when the protest is in support of them.
The fact out govt are trying to push this through should give us all real cause for concern if we value the right to protest as a cornerstone of a democratic society
