How the result of that fight was decided.

Pretty much every pro boxer who saw the fight said Catterall was robbed. Even one of Taylors best pals Frampton, said the wrong man won. It felt like everyone knew including Taylor himself, that in the 12th he needed a knockout. Absolute joke.

As a huge Josh Taylor fan I thought he lost that fight last night by 3 rounds.

It was a horrible fight to watch, messy and once jack catterrall got in the lead he was spoiling/holding like crazy which judges don’t like.

Taylor just wasn’t on it though and I’m very disappointed with the views from him and ben Davidson afterwards.

It’s looking like Taylor will move up to 147, he better stay away from the likes of Crawford, Spence etc as he will get blasted out.

I hope jacks Catterall gets an immediate shot at a title again in his next match.

I just remembered that after round 11 I could clearly hear Taylor’s corner saying “you need a stoppage”, but then after the fight he felt he won comfortably

I thought it was iffy....just not as clear cut as the TV folk, who were carried away. A close one, which could have gone either way.

British Boxing Board of Control open investigation into the scoring. There is no way Josh Taylor won that one. No way

Probably just a `pacifier` due to the fall-out since the result was announced.

The poor lad Catterall had his moment stolen away from him. Big pay days were waiting for him, big fights and the recognition he rightly deserved.

Nowt will change, the result won't be overturned, and Catterall is unlikely to get back all that has been lost.

Well many would wholeheartedly agree with you, but the only opinion which really matters is the 3 judges, and 2 of them gave it to Taylor.

Definitely smells fishy though, and at best it's a home decision, at worst it smacks of corruption.

Sky TV raved about how it was such a exciting fight ! Really ? It was dull, boring and more akin to a bear hugging contest. Neither fighter come out with much credibility. The referee was absolutely hopeless and despite giving both boxers countless telling offs he didn't act until it was far too late. The point off for Catterall could and should have been given far earlier for repeated turning his back. holding and failing to try and actually do some boxing. The point off for Taylor was way to harsh, yes he punched Catterall after the bell but it was in the chest and looked more of a punch of respect for Catterall having made it a close contest. Taylor was clearly below his best and fought, if that is what you can describe it, entirely the wrong tactics. They always say in boxing that in order to take a title off the champion when judges are scoring a fight that the challenger has to dictate and clearly demonstrate they have won a round and that very close rounds are often given in the event of a lack of a decisive win go to the champion. In this lack lustre contest where ballroom dancing and bear hugs were the stand out feature rather than boxing I am of the opinion Catterall did not decisively win that many rounds. A poor fight, a poor referee and unfortunately a result which will inevitably lead to a rematch, lets just hope they actually try to fight next time as I couldn't stand to watch more of the rubbish they both served up over the weekend. As for the stats put up showing punches thrown and landed I can only assume they included every time Catterall dangled his glove or forearm in the face of Taylor instead of actually landing a punch and they did not include many of the punches that Taylor landed on Catterall's body especially when Catterall kept turning deliberately away each time they clinched. The result should have either been a boring score draw or both should have been thrown out under the trade descriptions act of it being a boxing match.

Taylor moving up to Welter, so unlikely to be a rematch, Catterall must be a prime contender for a title fight though after that display, who against I can't say unlike many on here I don't follow boxing that closely.
