The boiling water tap is cheaper than a kettle???

I'll take your word for it. Kettles aren't cheap to run but I never fill mine more than I need. I know exactly how much will fill the teapot and not a shake more goes in.

Full fat milk almost as good buddy 🙂
Almost being the keyword there…. Because it’s really not even that close. Besides, halfnhalf is great for low carb diets due to the lower count in cream

Hmmmm, is it similar to the Coffee Mate stuff I've posted about?

I'd check the ingredient tbh for those looooovely *checks ingredients* ... ah yes! .... "HYDROGENATED VEGETABLE OIL (COCONUT AND/OR PALM KERNEL AND/OR SOYBEAN" elements but I'd rather take my chances with 30% cream than consume much of that processed stuff.

Same goes for "dream topping" - tastes like a dream, sure, but what's it made from??

Just what on Earth is this mystical "half and half" thingamy of which you speak NRC???? :?: :?:
It’s half whole milk and half cream Mr Rowls. You just need a small amount of it and let the creaminess deal with the rest.

Once you’ve had half n half you never …. Err… go back

I used to work in a dairy, y'know,

I was in the semi-skimmed department (it was a semi-skilled job).

I was in charge of mixing the full fat and and the skimmed milk in order to make the semi-skimmed stuff. I put a little bit of myself into every pint.

True story.

We got a FOHEN boiling water tap 18 months ago ... not boiling a kettle 6+ times a day noticeable on leccy usage ... makes great "Nescafe coffee" and when we use our Cafatiere for "proper coffee" 🙂

Kettle back in box for "just in case" emergencies
Is that a ‘true boiling’ one and would you recommend it, Bosscat?

I’ve been looking at the Quooker ones for when we have the kitchen redone. The reviews on some of the other brands (some quite a bit more expensive than Quooker) weren’t great.

What I’ve not seen on the boiling water taps is one that does multi-temp like our kettle does, which is great for herbal teas at 85, Coffee at 95 and tea at 100.

"the kettle phenonmenon"
Don’t start me on the chip pan phenomenon. Or lack of it. When I moved over in the 90s I finally gave up trying to find such a thing and had someone go to Burnley market and send one.

Don’t exist here.

We have it set at 98 degrees (can be set for other temps but 98 is the hottest) makes a great tea too ... cost £450 and was fitted when we had the new kitchen 18 months ago

How does the magic work, Bosscat? Does it have to keep a supply at a constant temperature to deliver instant water, or is there just some magic involved?

It has an insulated tank m8 and keeps 3 litres at a constant temp ... it seems to operate for a few seconds about once an hour (it only heats the amount of water used) ... about the equivalent of boiling a kettle twice a day according to the bumf in the box ... must admit our leccy usage is definitely less now we arent boiling a kettle 🙂

Thanks Bosscat. Appreciate the detail.
Enjoy your coffee!

I don't like coffee, however, Mrs McL deceased swapped to Douwe Egberts and said it was much better. My new partner, used to have Nescafe (years ago she worked for Nesle in Switzerland) and when she tasted the coffee I still had, she also said it was much better and swapped.

I like tea but only the regular brew eg Typhoo.
