On the killing of Medvechek, there was a report yesterday of a Colonel Medvedev and said he was being stretchered away for medical treatment.

Why shouldn't they?
I hope our government's priority is the UK.
We are interested in the war in Ukraine because it affects us in many ways. Hardly anybody is interested in the war in Yemen because it effects us very little.

This is quite big (as in Russia now recognises it can't win what it set out to do at the start) and its shows that Russia is looking for a way out that it can count as a win
Course, the big problem is that Ukraine is not going to give up its territory, especially if it perceives that the longer this goes on, the worse it is for Russia (I'm not sure about that, but Russia is going to get progressively weaker, and its whether Ukraine can keep up with its current operational tempo)
Be very interesting to see how the Russian troops in the North attempt to hang on to what they have got, and I'm not sure they will be able to
Also might mean that the Ukrainians can reinforce in the south and east, which would make Russia's job much harder

I think the 14,000 anti tank missiles being delivered are going to have an impact over the next two weeks.

Either way, once the threat on Kyiv has receded, the Russians might start to feel some real pain.

Re: Russia Invades
Another great Twitter thread from Kalim Galeev, this time it's about the difference between legality and procedure. Apparently a small group of Russian soldiers refused to go to Ukraine because they didn't have passports and therefore it was illegal to cross the border. They were dismissed from the Army but now they are suing their employers for wrongful dismissal. Gallev also explains how he legal system is used to traduce the poor and uneducated.

Is Putin going to abandon his forces in the North or draw them back and bring them around to the Crimea....given how it's gone for him so far I don't think they'll be able to go overland to the south.

Holding the line with limited supply and morale with constant attacks on your rear areas?
You'd have to be one hell of an army to ignore that without starting to retreat
And of course, once you start retreating, with poorly trained troops, low morale and limited supply, that can turn into a rout pretty quickly, and remember, all the big supply depots that should be behind the Russian lines are still all held by Ukrainian troops

As has been said by everyone, the territorial demands that Russia have are completely unacceptable to Ukraine, and will they change? or will they do something completely daft to try to get the win?

We are giving massive amounts of arms so Ukraine can stop Russia so he cannot start a nuclear war.
We are arming the Ukrainians to prevent it getting nuclear.
The poor Ukrainians are paying with their lives to protect us from nuclear war.

Let's keep it to reporting war updates and not discussing ridiculous nuclear war theories then, as the head of NATO has already said, a nuclear war is something Russia cannot win, for that reason alone, it will never ever happen. It's simply to scare nations into staying out of the conflict. Spreading mass panic messages is good for nobody.Cubanforever wrote: ↑Fri Mar 25, 2022 10:39 pmI think you should apply some of your own thinking to yourself and what you post.

The Russians totally destroyed the Ukraine AD and AF on the first night of the invasion then again a few days later and then again a few more days later. They may make it hard for the Ukrainians to fly much but they are still flying still shooting AC down and still performing miracles with the Bayakters!

Agree with that
Re: Russia Invades
Maybe the war really is pro Ukraine and they're miles ahead? the media is certainly painting the picture that Russia are doomed to failure. I'm certain Putin thought it would be a cake walk like Crimea was. He probably thought most of Ukraine was pro Russian based on the separatists in the Donbas region.
Zelensky made a mistake not dealing with the separatist groups, allowing them such power to control millions of the Ukraine population. Gave Russian confidence and security to just waltz right in, whilst declaring them independent states. The separatists are the biggest headscratcher, Ukrainian born pro Russian? happy to see their own country blown to pieces and their own people killed or simply Russian troops in disguise?
