Hopefully not jinxing it, but I’d have taken 0-2 at the start. A sad sign of how gutless we are against citeh.

You certainly get the impression if we even got to the point where we equalize they could just up their game again and score another 2.

Amazing stuff from Brentford. Absolutely no chance we get anywhere near them this season.

Exactly what I claimed when arguing the toss with claretonthecoast about other managers more capable to fight relegation, franks & hodgson, you don’t need money you need to progressively evolve without stale flat players, formations, & tactics. It’s a complete & utter mess what’s happening & completely preventable, pace needs to stand up as a chairman & explain what’s going on.

I honestly think the worst thing we could do now is stay up. We desperately need wholesale changes.

I’d rather they fix central midfieldburnleymik wrote: ↑Sat Apr 02, 2022 3:56 pmStill not fixed the PA system in the Jimmy mac. How much time do they need?

The whinging will stop if we go down because we might start playing some actual football

Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus Citizens
No guarantee changing the manager would ensure survival, and given the state of our squad it would probably make little difference now.Jakubclaret wrote: ↑Sat Apr 02, 2022 4:53 pmExactly what I claimed when arguing the toss with claretonthecoast about other managers more capable to fight relegation, franks & hodgson, you don’t need money you need to progressively evolve without stale flat players, formations, & tactics. But Pace has a mighty big decision to make in a few weeks regarding whether to stick with Dyche or not, and even with the financial constraints we have to work under this present squad is significantly weaker then it was a few seasons ago, plus perhaps more importantly it's considerably older and slower, which may well go a long way to explaining why the framework which has served us so well for several seasons is now no longer effective at this level.
Our fate won't be decided by today's loss, but rather in our inability to win the key games against the lower half sides, and that's where Sean Dyche has to take the flak in my view anyway.

Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus Citizens
2-0 - one of our best results v City for a while
Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus Citizens
Should have been at least 5 to be fair

We've won 3 in 28, I think people are entitled to complain. And I'd be more concerned if fans didn't vent, at least it shows they care.claret2018 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 02, 2022 4:59 pmThe whinging will stop if we go down because we might start playing some actual football
More importantly if we go down, which seems only a matter of time now, then we might win some games in the Championship, and also build a younger pacier side, because this squad is well past it's sell by date, and needs a massive overhaul this summer.
How we achieve that given the dire state of our finances is for those in charge to sort out, but radical changes are a must for me.

Would have taken 0-2 at 3.00pm. My worry with just 10 games left is that SD is no where near knowing what our strongest starting 11 is

First half was crap, 2nd half was much better. We catually created chances which was nice. Gives me a bit of confidence going into the 2 games next week.
I know we say we shouldn't look at other teams but the west ham Vs Everton game tomorrow is huge for us.

The rest of the season, however, has been poor & the investment (or lack of) in youth and pace completely evident.
Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus Citizens
Think it is time to leave the big league behind - having spent most of my time watching Burnley in division 3 & 4 it was fantastic to see us reach the premier league and punch above our weight. Having said that we just cannot compete with the majority of clubs in this league abs with 5 substitutes the situation will get worse. Being an exile I listened to todays commentary on 5 Live and the bias towards City was incredible. When Cornet was injured “off the ball” the commentators saw nothing, time and time again the so called big clubs get away with “just clipping” our players yet our fouls are called as being physical or dangerous. I love Burnley and will do until I die but we just can’t compete and I am sick of hearing that trans that cost billions weren’t seriously tested.

Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus Citizens
What’s the point in supporting your team if you don’t want to be in the top division and dream of being the best? Makes no sense at all. Small time mentality that has festered for years.

Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus Citizens
Everybody did when everything was going swell there wasn’t any other place to be, but now because we aren’t doing well & things have eventually caught up with us (always going to just a matter of time) the championship is now the place to be. I’ve said it for years even when doing well the championship is where the real football is, some people are consistent & some people change as often as the direction of the wind.gandhisflipflop wrote: ↑Sat Apr 02, 2022 5:31 pmWhat’s the point in supporting your team if you don’t want to be in the top division and dream of being the best? Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus Citizens
Just read the thread. I do wonder how many posting here were actually watching at the game today…
Anyway, some observations.
Roberts - I like him, but I also like Lowton and it really is a toss up between the 2, different skills but I think Roberts is better defensively, and Lowton is better whipping the ball over. Too many times recently and Roberts has shanked a cross and we’ve tamely lost possession.
Kev Long is fantastic backup.
Aaron Lennon loves playing football.
McNeil is off his game and needs another rest.
Our midfield was always going to chase shadows against a side like City.
City were fantastic at making everything look simple and look like it’s easy to do. They just appear to pass accurately and swiftly to a team mate (usually where they are facing) and it really is that simple - and yet almost impossible for other teams to emulate.
Villa had their pants down for Grealish - he really struggles to fit in their team, I don’t think he’s as good as he thinks he is. Would suit a mid table team like West Ham, or Villa… ahem…
