Win or draw?

Post by Firthy » Fri Apr 08, 2022 6:03 pm

A Burnley win and an Everton loss will be the icing on the cake this weekend after Wednesday but I'm undecided if I want a Watford win or a draw vs Leeds.

A draw, I think. If we play well enough and get some of the luck we deserve, catching and passing Leeds in the next few games is a real possibility.
It's better two teams get one point than one getting all three.

Watford win. Drags Leeds right back into it, if we win. We’d go 3 behind them with 2 games in hand and far superior GD. Their next fixtures are Palace away, City home, Arsenal away, Chelsea home. More teams in the mix the better…

Whatever the outcome of the other matches, I don’t really care. We just have to win our own, starting with Norwich.

As boring as it is, you're absolutely correct.

We win at Norwich and I'll start to believe again and actually think we will stay up regardless.

Would be nice if us and Watford stay up at the expense of Everton and Leeds but IF we win a draw for them and a Manure win is best for us in the short term.

It all depends how we do, if we win, then we could do with Leeds winning, if we lose then we need a Watford win.

I don't really like looking at other fixtures, I'd much rather we concentrated on ourselves. We need to focus on the teams above us, not look over our shoulders at those behind. 3pts on Sunday and I couldn't care less about the rest, even if they won, we need to do the business for us.

I’d also want a wolves win tonight too. If Newcastle lose tonight, and we win Sunday, we would go 4 points behind them with a game in hand and them to still come to turf moor. I think they will be safe, but as someone else posted further up, the more in the mix the better.

We need Watford to lose, we have to play them yet and we don’t want them to still be hoping to escape. No way are Leeds going down anyway- much as We’d like it

Draw.

We need to try drag Newcastle and Leeds into this relegation battle.

No certainty on whats happening with Watford yet to we need everyone in it.

We’ll get what we get & anything that’s benefits us translates into a brucey bonus, we could do with Everton dipping in instead of hovering over if for confidence if nothing else.

They've got Phillips back which will make a big difference. Jury must still be out on Marsch though; granted he's had a couple of results but one was against Norwich and the other courtesy of Wolves imploding.

A win for me; if we can't finish above Watford irrespective, then we don't deserve to stay up

We just need to worry about our own results. All other games make little difference if we do not step up our form.

As far as Newcastle are concerned, I can't really make my mind up.
Yes we want as many in the mix as possible but if they're out of danger by the time they come to the Turf, they'll hopefully have their flip flops on.

If we we Sunday I think it brings Leeds back in regardless because it will show we really have got something going. We have had 3/4 dissapointments in crucial games this year. Made one on wednesday can we do it again if we do I'll really start to believe we can do it .

Everton and Watford win. Then us to.

We will play a lot better if we have no choice but to win in my eyes. We struggle to score if we don't take risks.

I fear we may try not to lose rather than win if we sneak out of the bottom 3.

If Norwich beat us tomorrow & Watford & Everton do something it could have that feel that it could go to the last game, I remember some years ago a final shootout last day of the season between palace Southampton Norwich & West Brom & West Brom battering Fulham & stopping up I think Geoff Horsfield helped West Brom.

Leeds win. Our task is to end outside the bottom 3,not to finish above any specific club. Watford are below us, and have the least challenging run in, so we need some distance between us and them. Once we are outside the bottom 3,I want those teams to keep losing, I don't care who they are

I want Man Utd to turn up tomorrow and their players to earn their extortionate wages, that would make a nice change

2 away wins for both Utd's please, better for us if Norwich and Watford are out of contention going into the final few games, then we'd only have to finish above one other probably Everton.

However as stated as long as we take all 3 points on Sunday then what other teams do or don't do will matter little.

It is a boring answer :D

It’s two’s and ideally three’s on the bounce that we need now. Everton was massive but it’ll mean sod all without similar on Sunday.

Watford draw is ideal, keeps them under us and Leeds catchable.

But I’ve said for weeks that we need 38 points no matter what. Still feel that.

If the gods of football could guarantee us 36 points right now, I'd take it and gamble that's it's enough.
It probably will be.

38 points will easily be enough, but I'm not sure we'll need that many, for Everton & Watford to get anywhere near that total they'd both have to have a a massive upturn in their forms, plus they still have to play each other which reduces their potential points totals whatever the outcome of their meeting.

We need a win ... couldn't care less about Leeds - Watford really ... win, lose or draw ... works all ways ... but we need the 3 points on Sunday, lucky pants and socks travelling with me to Edinburgh tomorrow to wear Sunday 😁 watching Grandaughter play in goal for England in the Home Internationals Lacrosse meeting at Pfeffermill Playing Fields 🙂

With our goal difference, 34 will be enough.

Draw, I think, but yes, lots of straight reds causing the odd muscle pull that keeps the better players out for 6 weeks. Hodgson sacked and replaced by someone far worse.

We really need tomorrow (it won't be over if we don't but a defeat would be very grim).

A draw or home win.
