How did we win the cautions 3-1? Vydra possibly and Barnes for winding them up. Charlie gets booked for time wasting, however, Wolves committed 7 fouls and 4 of those were by Hwang Hee-Chan who argued the case on two of them but escapes a caution.
Oh, I forgot ---Anthony Taylor was the referee!

Managed to miss the most obvious foul of the afternoon when Brownhill got bundled over in the corner!

unbelievable ! I thought that was the best reffing display at the turf for a long time - he was completely consistent and gave no dubious decisions for either side, the players knew this and adapted accordingly. I’m ok with the Brownhill foul as long as he was consistent, which he was. His only mistake was not booking Tarky after play stopped but I have to say I was delighted with this.

Obviously the brownhill decision and the inconsistency with bookings was very annoying. But I think he did ignore a lot of play acting by Wolves and tried to let the game flow. So I’m slightly surprised the marks are so low. Will have to watch it back.

What he said!
That was refreshing and just the type of reffing we need, going forward.

I thought he was superb. Couple of little things he missed but let the game flow, didn't fall for any dives/cheating. Top notch

I thought that it was an automatic free kick if you impede a goalkeeper kicking from their hands. On two occasions, Jiminez didn’t just stand near, he raised his foot as if to block the kick.

I don’t think Taylor saw the first (surely the linesmen did) he definitely saw the second though and did nothing.

Great to see a ref let the game flow and not be conned into constant free kicks. The Brownhill incident was the major cocktail up!

He tries to not be easily conned and to be fair he often tells players to get up and play on. The trouble is he takes it too far. How on earth he missed the big barge in Brownhills back is beyond me. I also recall we broke from a corner of theirs earlyish in the second half and it was cynically stopped with a foul. Remarkably he didn't even have a word with the player when I thought it was a nailed on booking.
An average performance. I've certainly seen worse.

Absolute crap
He allowed constant winging and gamesmanship by Wolves and ignored afters and shirt pulling
Why Ash got booked when he was guilty of being a target as the defender hurled the ball at his head
Unbelievable Jeff

Thought he was decent. Refreshing desire to keep the game flowing which not many refs possess. Some silly moments but nothing that massively stood out.

Surprised with the low marks. Thought he reffed the game pretty well despite a few minor errors. Let the game flow and didn’t fall for players dropping to the ground when touched. I’d much rather have that every week than some of the sh!te we get.

Don't generally comment on here on refs and I have been highly critical of Taylor in the past. However today I thought he was excellent and controlled the game well.

He had a good game in my opinion.
The only time he irritated me was when he booked Vydra and didn't book (can't remember who it was. Hwang?) For a deliberate foul that stopped us counter attacking at the back.
He didn't buy the constant attempts at cheating by the Wolves forwards.

Absolutely! I was utterly incandescent at the time. Brownhill shoved over hard from behind and falls on the ball. Foul to Wolves for handball. Bizarre decision from Taylor.
Otherwise tbf he did OK. He could/should have booked Tarks for a foul after he'd rightly played advantage to Wolves and then let one of theirs off for the same thing. Charlie's card was poor though as he hadn't even warned him and he really wasn't taking ages.

B. Consistency - 22
C. Fitness and Positioning - 22
D. Control and Authority - 19

Having seen Palace v Leeds yesterday, where the ref saw it as his life's work to give as many free kicks as he could, I would say (and I was surprised) that Taylor's performance was as good as I've seen recently. I think football was better in the days when you could "earn" free kicks by touching someone and falling down.

A very mixed bag that has manifested in people giving high or low marks, with little in between. He'll get the average results he deserves for the mixed performance he gave us.

He was very good at not falling for a lot of the falling over in the hope of "winning" a free kick. Conversely, he was poor in the consistency of dishing out yellow cards. Apparently, agressively thrusting the ball into a player's throat is of similar offence to have a ball agressively thrust into your throat? If referee's continue with this system we might soon expect to see reciprocal red cards for dangerous play - one for the player doing the fouling and one for the player getting kicked / punched / assaulted etc.

Foul throws are now awarded a "do over" whereby you get a 2nd chance to take it properly. Both teams benefited from this "rule" (a new one to me) so we can't really argue about consistency. I wonder if they'll start applying this generosity to missed penalties?

He also chickened out of booking their 7 for a very cynical attempted trip on McNeil which would have resulted in a 2nd yellow by the time he was shoving the ball into Ashley Barne's throat. On the other hand, his playing on at the time was good refereeing.

Never bothered to enforce the law which specifically designates challenging a goalkeeper kicking the ball from their hands as a statutory yellow card offence.

Obviously, it's commonplace for referees to pick and choose which rules they're currently enforcing but it would be nice if we could have an update before the games to help the crows understand the decision-making.
