Palace is a must win for them. I’d love to see Everton go down.

Re: Todays other games
Well that cheered me up somewhat, after Leeds scrambled that fortunate point, all to play for between the 3 now, and it could come down to who holds their nerve.

Re: Todays other games
Bad day for Everton but with DLC back, 2 games left and 2 points ahead of us they will be fine. 1 more point will see them over the line, and they might not even need it.
We need 4 points from our last 2 games. It is that simple.

If they get 1 point, and we get 3 there's a decent chance we finish higher than them.RickyBobby wrote: ↑Sun May 15, 2022 6:30 pmBad day for Everton but with DLC back, 2 games left and 2 points ahead of us they will be fine. 1 more point will see them over the line, and they might not even need it.

Re: Todays other games
That 97th minute deflected winner against Newcastle after they were dire and their other deflected winners and last minute goals may yet prove crucial.
Today though, justice was done. in this game at least. We just needed Welbeck to score that sitter and we’d be looking really good. As it is, it will be a highly stressful week, but may yet be one of ‘those’ Turf Moor games. Right, breathe, open a bottle….

Everton are right back in the mix and with Arsenal away in their last game the pendulum has swung again today , a good day for us although it may not seem like that for everyone

We could lose at Villa and draw at v Newcastle and stay up. 4 points guarantees our safety. Forget Everton unless they lose at home to Palace

If we'd have converted a couple of "sitters" of our own throughout the season, we'd also be looking good.CrosspoolClarets wrote: ↑Sun May 15, 2022 6:31 pmWe just needed Welbeck to score that sitter and we’d be looking really good.
That's the main reason we are where we are.

I'm not sure I'm up for four days of possible permutations
Win at Villa and we really shouldn't go down from there

Re: Todays other games
Not our of the question that we go into the final day above both Everton and Leeds, we win at Villa and Everton lose or draw against Palace, then suddenly the Toffees could face the prospect of having to travel to Arsenal and get a result.

Re: Todays other games
Exactly this. We couldn't, realistically, have hoped fir anything away at Spurs. The fact that our two rivals had their easiest remaining games (both at home against teams who apparently wouldn't be trying) and only mustered one point between them is, again realistically, as good as we could have hoped for.

Re: Todays other games
Not a bad day of results to be fair. That Leeds equaliser was a sickener but I expect Brentford to give them a tough game so I feel that Leeds won't win there. But at least a point at Villa would help. Then means Leeds HAVE to win and hope we lose. Everton are not out of it either now. Could've been worse today.

Re: Todays other games
I think we need a draw and a win in our final two games or we are down. Despite the Everton result, the Leeds drawer was a real killer for us.

Re: Todays other games
Well, no, the difference to our best seasons is defence not attack. We are shipping more at vital times. The stats prove it. But I take your point. That Welbeck chance was looking great as it came to him though, it was as bad as Cornet at Norwich.ElectroClaret wrote: ↑Sun May 15, 2022 6:35 pmIf we'd have converted a couple of "sitters" of our own throughout the season, we'd also be looking good.

Re: Todays other games
The centre half that got a straight red, will miss their last 2 games. It wasn’t 2 yellows, straight red. They are down to bare bones at centre back now, only Holgate fit.

This. We've been shipping less (most games) since Jan bar that blip where we faced a lot of tough home fixtures and it's showed by a much better points return over the same periodCrosspoolClarets wrote: ↑Sun May 15, 2022 6:44 pmWell, no, the difference to our best seasons is defence not attack. Re: Todays other games
More positives after watching that.
A draw for Everton on Thursday and defeat to top 4 chasing Arsenal would mean that we would need to beat either Villa or Newcastle to go above them (as long as we don't lose heavily in the other game).
Brentford looked pretty good today, I don't fancy Leeds' chances much.
I've got a strong feeling that 1 point might be enough for us. Palace is a massive game for Everton.

A straight red is 3 game ban isn't it?

The Leeds result will only be a killer for those who hoped we could get away with losing all our last 3 games and stay up.

Re: Todays other games
Ok, not you but are you telling me with our vastly superior goal difference and going into today with equal points there were no Burnley fans hoping Leeds lost their last two games so we didn't need another point.
