Hi Vegas, back in 2020 - just before I retired - one of my colleagues, an Indian woman, was working in Denver. I was told it would cost the company at least $5,000 to apply for an extension to her 12 months post-graduate work permit/visa. (I forget what the US system called it). Fortunately, the company was very pleased to spend the money. She was very good.
US is VERY expensive. I suspect Kompany will be going for this VISA, I checked before I posted - I'm gobsmacked how cheap it is

Heard the delay is due to both parties negotiating their share of the visa application fee. This could drag on.

If the salary for Kompany is as has been reported,I think the money would be better spent on players and get a manager in with experience of the Championship and how to get out of it.

Or will the salary for VK be worth it $ wise if he’s able to attract several loans (4/5) from City / other top academies? Therefore saving on fees from permanent signings.

You can't have been serious? £2.5 million is reportedly being paid to him. That doesn't pay for a leg in today's transfer market.

Wages, it goes towards wages, they are not buying him they are paying him that amount of money, some people just dont get it. We pay a manager a million less it means we can pay perhaps 2 good footballers more and they may come for that. It is not difficult to work out.

If we don't get the work permits through by tomorrow afternoon, we are going to be waiting until next week. Can we please all just accept that in advance as a possibility and not spend the next four days being nasty to each other. It isn't because Kompany is going elsewhere or that the club are failing in some way, it is simply that the government department that issue work permits haven't signed it off before the Bank Holiday weekend.

I’ve just been looking through this thread and spotted a couple of things.

1 - I’d assumed it started once Sean Dyche was sacked but it was five days earlier after the defeat at Norwich

2 - The first mention of Kompany is on page 12 with reference to the betting odds and someone asking a couple of betting companies for odds on Kompany. Seems someone might have known something then.

There’s no jubilee bank holiday in Germany so it’s gives Borussia Monchengladbach a massive advantage.

Very interesting that Kompany showed interest in mid April just before the Belgian cup final, which must have been just about when Dyche got sacked.

He must have shown interest, or us in him, because that guy from Newcastle on Twitter with about 36 followers seemed to prompt the bookies to start offering odds on Kompany, it looked like he had found something out, “fill your boots” the guy had tweeted. Seems more plausible than the normal weird folk we see on there because that geezer never tweets anything of substance and suddenly started asking multiple bookies about Kompany when he isn’t even a Claret.

In one sense that subsequent 10 points out of 12 for Jackson teased the board into thinking they could drag this out - obviously hindsight is a wonderful thing and we all agreed at the time, but one does wonder if an earlier appointment of Kompany could have changed things? Those three wins, again in hindsight, were against fairly tepid opposition.

It’s not healthy to wonder of course, and I don’t think that’s right, injuries and refs played the biggest role, and the work permit delay would have been a pain, but I’m still transitioning through the stages of grief so can't help the sliding doors thoughts :(

Assuming this screenshot is real and not some Photoshopped social media manipulation, wouldn't this mean ALK had been talking to Kompany while he was at Anderlecht, and while Dyche was still manager? That seems...well, I know Bolton did similar to us with Coyle but still unlikely. I don't see how that would fit with these delays, as it would mean we've had 6 weeks at least to get the work permit etc. sorted.
Suppose this is the way of social media, a few pictures and words and the rumour mill gets going but this seems really odd and not something I'm all that inclined to believe.

I get the impression from what has been said and actually Anderlechts actions that him moving had been agreed some time again.

he will get one very very easily - just a matter of how quick the UK government process the application - not sure if there is a pay more get it quicker option ?

It’s not as simple as that unfortunately. I’ve been trying to get my wife and son a visa to move to the UK for the last 2 years.

The current Home Office is incredibly hostile and unwelcoming to foreign nationals, even if they are married to a Brit.

There is a basic human right to a ‘family life.’ However, this current Home Office have done away with that and encourage you to move away to your partners country of origin.

I’d imagine Kompany’s ‘star status’ will go a long way to ensuring his WP is approved though in this instance.

Agreed. Fairly recently, a friend tried moving back to England from Tokyo with his delightful Japanese wife. He has been with her since 1991, and she speaks English really well, but her written English is non-existent, meaning she failed the English test.

Looks to me from some reports that he’s already unofficially started work in the transfer market with BFC. If that’s the case then surely it’s a given. Just got to wait for the official confirmation. Visas are a pain in the arse thanks to Brexit.

I’d imagine Kompany’s ‘star status’ will go a long way to ensuring his WP is approved though in this instance.
which is exactly why they will go for the sports one - no question whatsoever of his "elite" status so he will get it even if he hasn't already. I hope you get your situation sorted Helm, they make it so hard for sure :(

He’s maybe thinking of Prince Philip. Though he was Greek wasn’t he?

Philips father was Greek and his mother, Alice was English..Think he is referring to the Saxe- Coburg connection going way back.
