It may seem a little odd and optimistic but I'm looking forward to the change of team, manager and division and it's been a long time coming.
I've enjoyed the time in the prem but it's always felt like we've only been visiting and don't really belong or fit. Don't get me wrong, it's great to see the games and the exposure we have had but there's something to be said for being competitive and challenging for promotion, fingers crossed, but we have more likelyhood in the championship.
I will always remember that feeling at Wembley winning the playoff final v Blades, one of the best feelings and moments in football.

Promotion is what I'd hope for but the change to the championship isn't a bad thing for me for a change.
Despite all the doom and gloom around on these boards I'm one of the more positive.
We can't really compete long term at the top table so if we can enjoy a few years, come down and enjoy some goals, success and positivity rather than just survival in in.

A scabby goal against Man City will always feel better than a wonder strike against Barnsley.
Success is being in the top division, at the top table, being able to say you're one of the top 20 (or even top 10 or 7) teams in England, bloodying the noses of giants regularly and forcing our place.
Positivity? this "we didn't belong" rubbish is such lack of ambition or aspiration. We belonged because we earned it, and whether we fit with the billionaire city club image or not we were where we deserved to be on merit. We were different but this in itself should have been a source of pride. Embracing the image of our different, "unfashionable" style and traditional values on a shoestring budget, rather than meek silence or scrambling to change our style to please armchair TV fans who will never like us anyway because we will never have the resources to do that slick city style as well as others.
The goal of sport is to win, to compete, to achieve and do the best you can do. We did that for 6 years in the top division. The only goal should be to do that again, not to just be happy to be there in the Championship looking flashier against weaker opposition with no desire to return to the top. I could not have been prouder of the club during our Premier League spell and could never understand the self-consciousness of people wanting Sky Sports to say nicer things about us- they never would or will whatever happens because we don't have the financial power or economic status of a city club. Positivity to me was everything we were for the past 6 years (8 including the yo-yo spell). The goal should be to get back to the Premier League, whatever the playing style (provided we don't cheat or dive)- the style comes secondary to substance.

I guess the majority of fans have now come to accept and welcome the Championship as opposed to another fighting relegation in the PL, and at best hanging on to a scruffy draw or getting hammered. Lets hope the VK appointment is confirmed soon so that the club can start planning promotion

The most excited I ever got at the beginning of a season - and I used to get excited at each new season - was the Bond season. New manager type, noisy in the media, lots of transfers in and out, some apparently quite remarkable for our little club in the Third Division. And it was quite exciting to start with although fitfully, and then it all fell apart leaving a legacy for the next few years that nearly destroyed the club.

That sums up why I'm scared of us appointing managers bigger then the club. If they themselves can be managed that might be OK but we don't know if our current board are capable of that.

I agree with the OP, some may find back to the wall football okay which if it was only against a few clubs then maybe I could live with that, but unfortunately it became more common place against clubs who we really should have been on top against, I personally also want to be entertained by what I am seeing not feeling I could have done better ( not literally ) so given I can celebrate a goal within seconds of it going in whilst watching a match more often than not at 3 on a Saturday and compete on a more level playing field in local derbies, even go into the bookies in July and put £20 on the clarets to get promoted then as far as I`m concerned what`s not to enjoy, bring it on.

Does it make you feel important, like you have a devine right over is that support but don't necessarily feel the need to post excessively?

Absolutely disagree, the playoff final beats any win in the prem every day for me. We can't complete long term without huge and consistent investment which is never going to come to a club like ours.
We spent those years in the prem punching massively about ourselves and I enjoyed the ride but it wasn't exciting football or results and each week it was defend for your lives, odd game aside.
Championship run is exciting, different and we should be contenders, should be mind you.

Well, in reply to the OP, I was hoping to avoid relegation. I was a big fan of SD and would never have sacked him. Now he's gone and we are relegated, I am optimistic that we can get behind the team and watch some attacking football with winning actually a possibility.

Not the position I wished to be in but I can see the positives. Hopefully, we'll be able to retain most of our better players and mix in some younger talent with them.

Jimmyrobbo I'm of an opposite view that if we'd stick with Dyche we would have gone down anyway, at least with MJ et al we had a go albeit brief. I think it was our only real chance and it almost paid off.
Don't get me wrong SD is and always will be an absolute hero but at the end he was a busted flush be it him, his managent team or the whole structure from him and his team up.
The players could have done more but many just weren't up to it when we needed them most of all.

Numerous things may have helped contribute to getting 3 extra points, ie not selling Wood, taking our chances, not missing a penalty, some farcical VAR/refereeing decisions,over loyalty to certain players, injuries, not retaining a lead,not appointing Mike Jackson earlier, strengthening of the squad in Summer. I could go on and we will never know which were the very significant factors-but it could have been possible
