Think he’s completely burnt his bridges not only with the fans, but the rest of the players too.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 05, 2022 7:47 pmI noticed that. Seems like it’s just a way to get his wages off the books for a season. Perhaps Kompany wants him for the prem if we go up?
You only need to look at the amount of vitriol aimed at him on social media today after his departure was confirmed, to realise that you don’t come back from that.
Hopefully he smashes it in Turkey and seals a permanent move elsewhere.

You know what, if we really do put out a 6-9-4-2 formation this season I reckon we're in for a good shout of making the play-offs.

Can see why he's been linked. Kompany will know him. Attacking right footed midfielder. Never seen him play though.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
Not so much a link but a speculation on his future. He looks to be in a similar position to Weghorst in not wanting to play in the second tier. Kompany only mentioned because he made a bid at Anderlecht and the City link. Very much doubt he'd drop to the English second division.claretandy wrote: ↑Tue Jul 05, 2022 7:53 pmManu Garcia linked..

French customer of mine today mentioned that Kompany has shown interest in Mohamed Bayo of Clermont.
Good season in L1 just gone with 14. That after securing promotion previous season as top scorer with 22.

Why would we let a player under contract leave on a free?
I would want at least £30 million but after the pope deal I think we would probably snap their hands off at half that.

It's more realistic than us letting him go on a free. Though that is a very low bar

If you scroll through the comments, you have people from all over the world praising the video.
Kaiser Chiefs from South Africa have also commented. They have 2.5m followers, so that’s 2.5M people that have little ol’ Burnley pop up on their feed.
Remarkable.

If he can fulfil that potential on a regular basis at less than half the cost of Pope then we may of done great business

He certainly distributes the ball well. And he does have the look of Pope with some of his saves. I am confident that he will be better than our last overseas goalkeeper, that masterstoke of a Coyle signing, Diego Penny.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
His wages are covered.
He's not here.
It's a good enough deal for this season.
We can worry about what happens long term with him when he returns from his loan, if at all.
He's in a shop window and if.he does well enough someone will buy him.
The alternative is having him here with a negative attitude stinking the place out.

It’s a fair point but another season makes him a year older and his re sale value considerably drops. To not get a rental fee and no obligation to buy is not a good deal for us.GodIsADeeJay81 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 06, 2022 8:28 amHis wages are covered.

Loans very very rarely have ‘obligations to buy’.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 06, 2022 9:20 amIt’s a fair point but another season makes him a year older and his re sale value considerably drops. To not get a rental fee and no obligation to buy is not a good deal for us.

If he scores like mad there then his re sale value may not drop that much.
The Athletic reported negotiations were around an option to buy for Besiktas of €10m.

Surely though, with a couple of months left on the window, we might’ve been better hanging on to see if other clubs came in? You’d think someone would get desperate for a striker at some point and he has pedigree to be fair.GodIsADeeJay81 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 06, 2022 8:28 amHis wages are covered.

That was my thinking. He’s a year older & value reduces. Meanwhile I assume we have an instalment to pay this summer.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 06, 2022 9:20 amIt’s a fair point but another season makes him a year older and his re sale value considerably drops. I didn’t expect them to go for an obligation outright but I thought we might’ve negotiated a performance-related clause that could trigger an obligation, or something like that.
Wonder what the situation is if he picks up a serious injury?

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
Not really, because there are alternatives - albeit they may also have devalued him as per players elsewhere who are not training with their teams.
But I’d have considered a short stint back at Gawthorpe, perhaps training alone/fitness focussed, then a sale and clean break to be an overall better outcome than a loan, less time remaining on a contract and a year older scenario we now face.

Kompany appears to value a harmonious dressing room from what I've seen, WW wouldn't contribute to that and the financial hit is preferable to having him here.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
We've kicked the can down the road for a year
They cover his wages, we don't have to worry about him for a year, and he gets to play at a level that he wants to and it won't affect his chances of getting in the Dutch team (Wesley Snjeders was at one of the big Turkish clubs for at least a couple of seasons)
Best we could do, apart from selling him for more than we bought him for

Then if he'd decided he wasn't playing in the championship we're faced with a Bogarde/Chelsea situation and it's a nailed on fact that we'd have people on here annoyed that we didn't take the chance to loan him out.
It's fairly predictable how some would react.
He's gone, let's move on

Just to add - they reported in April that Coventry wanted 5m for him this summer.

That line has also been picked up by Pete O’Rourke but not sure if they’re one and the same. Seems like an exciting player. I know Nixon said we’d only be looking at him if Dwight left but he could just as easily replace Cornet if Chelsea end up taking him.

Got a feeling that Cornet will stay. While no one wants to play in the championship, VK and a new style of play/players might want him to stick around, at least for a year.
I don't think Chelsea is really that interested in him.
