You’ve been saying all summer so far that he’s guaranteed to be off?
Also I doubt we’ll accept a loan, surely we need the cash.
Just that Nixon posts suggests that’s what Everton are pushing for.
I was hoping with the sale of Collins we might be able to keep him

What makes you suggest it might be on loan? Surely not.
Nixon saying Everton are pushing for a Play now Pay later deal.
So basically a loan with an obligation to buy

Nixon did a piece saying Everton want to ‘buy now, pay later’, suggesting a staged cash payment for the deal, or even a loan with a guaranteed buy at the end.

This was exactly what was said
‘Clarets want close to £18 million for the Ivory Coast international but they may be willing to take the cash in stages and even delayed payments.
There is even the possibility that Cornet goes on loan to Goodison with a guaranteed buy if they stay up.
The chance to play in the Premier League again appeals to Cornet and Everton are currently the only club willing to meet the valuation - on their payment plan.’

I'm fine with Cornet going, but I hope we replace him with a proper asset, like O'Hare or this Delap lad on a permanent deal.

Frankly Everton can go and **** themselves.....pay the release clause or forget it!

Everton supposedly came within a day of breaching FFP based on the 3-year cycle required of it. Only by selling Richarlison the day they did did they escape. A loan with an obligation to buy in the next financial year makes total sense for them. Gives them a year to get organised. As we appear not to have cash flow problems it doesn't make a huge amount of difference when we get paid.

Sorry but why should we give them a year to get organised?

Selling him is bad enough, but I accept it. However agreeing to Everton's terms of a possible loan and obligation to buy shows our desperation.Who the hell is negotiating on our behalf

Because they sign a contract saying they'll pay us £18m in full next summer.
We might find, if there isn't interest in him from elsewhere, that it makes more financial sense than keeping him on a large wage for potentially another 4 years.

Kompany full quote on Cornet
‘I don't know close it is, it is no secret there is a couple of clubs in for him and a couple of clubs have made good offers. We have to prepare probably for a period after him and that is what we are doing.
I am not saying Maxwel has gone, he has offers.‘

It's not that we need to help Everton out, it's that if they are the only suitor and we are ready to sell Cornet, both for the sake of turning a profit and being able to commit to further expenditure, and for the player's sake as well considering we're not standing in anyone's way, it makes sense to make the mechanics of the deal agreeable to Everton.

Because the fee is generally payed over the length of the contract anyway, it’s all for the books, will likely make little difference to us

We could maybe get a loan fee from Everton for this season followed by the full release clause value next summer meaning we end up getting more money out of Everton in total which could work out better for us

How about this?
We loan him for a season so Everton cover his wages.
Next summer they pay no less than £18m, or we get him back?

Looks very good at linking midfield and attack. Very creative and a good dribbler but his finishing and final ball looks like it needs a bit of work from the videos I have watched. Still young though so could be a very good player for us

That’s what the Cov fans are saying and the stats would back it up. There’s not much online to form an opinion but if some of the bigger fees being mentioned are true, thats a lot for an attacking midfielder who doesn’t score goals.
Still, a midfielder who doesn’t score goals should fit right in here

Yes his goal scoring stats and assist stats are pretty poor, when you consider Brownhill had very similar stats in the championship but he played much deeper.
However, he will be playing in a much better team with a more attacking output so hopefully that’s stats will improve considerably this season.
Must admit his dribbling and tricks reminds me of Robbie Blake so all in I’m actually very excited by this one

Me neither, but their fans seem absolutely gutted that’s he’s leaving.
Reminds me a bit of the Robbie Blake to Wigan saga. And when we sold Charlie Austin to QPR.

Few reporting O'Hare fee is £6m with an extra £3m add ons.
Seems Ben Davies joining Rangers with Liverpool doubling their money.

I expect this is true. All the way through smashing riise with a golf club, bullying kids at Cardiff and falling out with everyone at Newcastle he’ll have been playing the long game looking to pinch a lad from Coventry in 2022 at Burnley to spite them, this lass in particular

We seem to be signing a lot of attacking midfielders but no strikers.
Does this mean we’re going the full Man City?

Sure I read somewhere that Everton’s offer was turned down flat by Burnley. Sorry, can’t remember where or who it was… but I took it as right.

Also heard on Friday that Muric was at Gawthorpe last week.
That would be a u-turn, most of the insiders stated that we'd moved on from Muric well over a week ago. Man City have said they are only willing to sanction a permanent transfer for him and want 4m.
Can't see us bringing Verbruggen and Muric, in and spending over 8m on goalkeepers.
