Brownhill will be a massive asset this season, imperative we keep hold of him.

Since relegation, I've seen loads of comments here saying we should sell at the first opportunity and that we could easily replace him with an upgrade...Nobody said Brownhill wouldn't be decent at Championship level

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
Were the results worse last season when Brownhill played ?
I genuinely don’t know the statistics but intuitively it feels like that during our best spell in April / May that Brownhill was playing.
Westy has been a really good player for us and £5m from Villa turned out to be an absolute bargain but before his horrible injury he was having by some distance his worst season for us. Again I don’t know the exact statistics but it felt like our best midfield partnership last year based on results and performances was Cork and Brownhill.
Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
He must be improving tho, I mean he didn’t even manage 1 assist against Leeds away last seasonKRBFC wrote: ↑Mon Jul 18, 2022 11:07 am3 assists is pre-season against Shrewsbury and he's suddenly Ronaldinho!!!! Is that the same amount of assists in 1 game than he got all last season? Also wake up, open your eyes, nobody said Brownhill wouldn't be decent at Championship level, he was a crap PL midfielder.

The Clarets will accept a £5 million LOAN fee with the rest of the money paid on achievements. In Fulham’s case that would mean a further £25 million if they stay up.
If Fulham do not win promotion then Burnley get their talented star back - and they hope for a quick return and a reunion.

£5m Loan fee and 25m obligation to buy. Why would Fulham do that when they can just sign him for 17.5m this season (probably with a similar down payment).

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
Hedging against income. If they have 1 season of prem money, they probably don't want to commit to outgoings of £12.5m, however, a 2nd season gives greater certainty. Burnley need some significant value to allow that hedge to happen. If Cornet goes and has a bad season, it's unlikely that they will get the £17.5m.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 18, 2022 12:10 pmI don’t understand that at all.

Fulham are loaded.Whats so difficult here-release clause is well documented. Just pay it, I am sure the club would accept instalments if the fee was right.Lets face it-Fulham must be favorites to go down, so if they do he wont want to stay, and the club wont want the player

Just sign him for £17.5m then put the same release clause in his contract, activated if they get relegated!dandeclaret wrote: ↑Mon Jul 18, 2022 12:14 pmHedging against income. Nixon has been pretty poor with the figures he’s quoted this summer. I still don’t get why Fulham would commit to 25m next summer when his clause is only 17.5?PremierLeagueClass wrote: ↑Mon Jul 18, 2022 12:18 pmDon’t for a second believe those figures quoted are accurate. But then Fulham are assuming the risk again of relegation, and a loss of form, therefore dramatic drop in value of the player. I'm not saying whether I would or wouldn't accept the deal, but people asked why would it be done, and I'm just providing rationale for that.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
He is an exciting player, and we know now of definite interest from two clubs, which is good for us. We need to be a bit more patient-this may make Everton go stronger . Handled right, this is a WIN, WIN for us. Got the impression re Pope and Collins we were desperate, but that may be because there was only one serious bidder for both players

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
Forgive me, but I've not seen on here any mention of the fact that if the personal
terms for Cornet are not to his liking, then he'll not want to go anywhere irrespective
of the transfer details/construction between the club's.
Just a thought.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
I'm just guessing, but I think that the £25M value is a sum of the loan agreement for this season (£5M+) and also the transfer fee should it come to pass (£17.5M+) and possibly add-ons. It is the only rational explanation for the approx. £25M valueNewcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 18, 2022 12:22 pmNixon has been pretty poor with the figures he’s quoted this summer. Maybe there is no release clause after all.
Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
I’m sure Fulham and Everton would be able to agree personal terms with Max, after all our relegation will have had a negative effect on his salary.

Nixon doesn’t often get the transfer fee correct.
Nixon unsure if there’s a release clause in his contract.

If it’s a choice of keeping Cornet and losing out on O’Hare then Good luck to O’Hare at Coventry - It’s a no brainer - But, being greedy - O’Hare looks a real player ! And would love it if we had both - YES, greedy I know !!!
Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
He wants to play in the Prem. I’d much rather have players here who are 100% committed to the cause and can be available to play every Saturday and Tuesday.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
Sounds like a good deal for us on the face of it. But what it doesn’t do is give us a warchest to use in this transfer window.
Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
The list of players who would rather play at Burnley than in the PL is a very short list. I doubt we could raise a team from them.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
Think this is only a "good deal" if we're done on departures tbh. If not selling Cornet means we have to sell McNeil or Brownhill or whoever instead, then it's just kicking the 'we need money' can down the road.

Every member of our squad wants to play in the PL. Cornet gets this not committed line a few times (a lot more so than other players) and there is absolutely no evidence to suggest that he wouldn't be.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
Well yes that’s obvious. But we are talking about Champions League pedigree player here who did very well in his debut season in the PL, he will have more of a desire to play in the Prem over others right now (like Collins did).Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 18, 2022 1:17 pmThink your missing his point.
If them 7 players were offered the chance of premier league they would pick premier league

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
I disagree.
I think there are thousands who'd play for Burnley ahead of any PL team. It's just that they wouldn't be very good at playing football.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
Course he wants to play in the Prem but for whatever reason, if there is no deal for Cornet and he has to stay a Burnley player I am pretty sure he would give his all for us, not just to showcase himself to the Prem clubs but because he's a professional. I think you are doing him a disservice to imply differently unless you have something to back that up?.

Batshuayi would never come to us, but on talent I'd have him.jedi_master wrote: ↑Mon Jul 18, 2022 9:41 amNot a rumour (remember, NOT a rumour), just a thought as we clearly need a striker. This might be an insane suggestion, possibly, but here it is...
Michy Batshuayi on loan.
Belgian, will know Kompany presumably well, just been out on loan at Beskitas for the season (scored 14) and has basically lived his life out on loan since signing for Chelsea, or it feels that way. He clearly will get farmed out again, and yes, it might be batshit (HA) to suggest him as a loan in this league but - just a thought. I am not seeing many decent names available so I thought I'd throw it out there....
Similarly on the subject of talented but troublesome Belgian players, Januzaj, who I believe is OOC, although if people think Batshuayi's attitude is a problem then his really would be. If he wasn't a diver I'd leap to get him at Burnley.
That 'era now past' comment is odd. Don't get the fixation with abandoning any and every trace of what got us so much success. Presumably you'd ship Cork, Brownhill, McNeil, Taylor etc. all out too then on those grounds?SkiptonClaret wrote: ↑Mon Jul 18, 2022 9:00 amHopefully not. Vydra belongs to an era now past. In any case he's not a goalscorer.
I'd only give him 1 year or pay as you play given he won't be fit til January, but prior to his injury I would have renewed Vydra ahead of Jay and certainly ahead of Barnes. Pacy, good touch, experienced at the Championship, can get goals in the Championship, and fractionally younger than both Barnes & Jay. It would cost more to find an equivalent replacement for him than Jay or Barnes so given our budgets are squeezed, he would be my preferred pick if fit. I stand by the view that if Jay & Ash are our 1 and 2 strikers, good servants though they've been, we're going to struggle.
Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
The release clause isn’t as attractive as you’d first think.
In order to properly trigger it they have to pay it - all, up front, in one fell swoop.
That’s not usually how transfers work. Payments are staged over a period of time.
That may be the reason behind the delay. We’re saying £17.5 mill all now, not if you want to pay over longer then we want more money.

According to Nixon, we're the ones who have brokered this deal..
"Burnley co-owner Mike Smith, an American attorney, has been working with an agent to broker the deal on that basis to clubs at home and abroad."
That's what we're offering Cornet at. It's up to clubs whether they take it. So far, Fulham have come forward and made a formal bid.
