Enjoyed 10 mile hike from Lofthouse around Gouthwaite .
32 C, but loved it. Mind the Crown was a welcome sight when we got back to the car.

For the Birdwatchers among you
10 Red Kites
8 Buzzards
but my highlight were the 6 Green Woodpeckers we saw. I haven't seen any up North for years

That's nowt, in 1976 my mum and dad spontaneously combusted, scorched my brother and burnt the house down, it was so hot though on the street that memorable day the neighbours came round to our burning house to cool down.

Just watching television now and anyone would think the apocalypse is coming today. Worried, nervous, frightened but ultimately heroic reporters at various locations around the UK each with access to a thermometer and a plethora of adjectives to describe " hot" .

It's the same when the country comes to a stand still when we get 3ins of snow. Your Mind boggles how the Scandinavians cope

I know it's trivial, but it's another example of the media creating the news, instead of just reporting the facts. Until people wise up it's only going to get worse.

Update - 28.5 °C in the shade here already.
Unfortunately the heavy rain and thunderstorms we were hoping for tonight and tomorrow have gone from the forecast.

Tube to work was pretty unpleasant. Loads of people working from home means the office air con works great though.

I never thought I’d get to this point but I’m really struggling in this heat now. There was a time when I’d have loved it but it’s not good for me now.

Looking forward to tomorrow.

This sort of temperature is utterly arse, unless you are by the sea and have a fully air-conditioned property to sleep in.

Just back from golf at St.Bees. We called it a day after twelve holes. Although the sea breeze kept the temperature down, it still reached 31°C.

LFB didn’t get to one of the fires today for 40 mins, which was in a shop underneath a block of flats.

There have been fires in parkland and common areas that have had no LFB/emergency response whatsoever.

This is the future.

A Tragedy in Five Acts:

Prologue -
Global warming isn't real

Act I -
Okay, it might be real but the science is unsettled

Act II -
Okay, the science is fairly settled, but it isn't man made

Act III -
Okay, it's man made, but it's too late to do owt about it

Act IV -
Okay, it's not too late to do owt about it, but it's too expensive (N.B this is roughly where we are)

Act V -
Okay, it's not too expensive when you balance everything out, but I just don't want to admit I was wrong. Sorry kids, this is your problem now

Epilogue -
*Dies in a heatwave in 2032*
