How much TV/broadcasting money do we get in the Championship?
How much TV/broadcasting money do we get in the Championship?
Does anyone know a reasonably accurate figure?
Re: How much TV/broadcasting money do we get in the Championship?
Going off recent accounts, Fulham received 1.2m from broadcasting in their previous promotion season (2020). Its not a lot.

Don't think there is any extra money - just the match fees

Prem will be far higher as expected due to the appeal but parachute payments usually soften the reduction.

If the OP is asking about parachute payments, I answered the question on another thread
http://www.uptheclarets.com/messageboar ... y#p1858007
It it is about EFL payments - we do not qualify (as a result of Parachute payments) for anything other than televised match fees which for a number of years have seen the home team get £100k and the away team get £10k (it is equal home and away once the base threshold of games has been passed). Given that the EFL TV deal has not increased it is unlikely to have changed
We still qualify for an Academy payment, but that will drop for well publicised reasons

There has still been no indication as to whether the overseas tv share threshold has increased for Premier League teams, certainly nothing in the recently published handbook for the coming season that I could find.Chester Perry wrote: ↑Wed Jul 13, 2022 2:16 amthe first year parachute payment is 55% of the equal share payments - so forget merit payments and TV appearance/facilities fees money above the minimum - in the current format of parachute payments are: Year 1 - £41.8m; Year 2 - £34.2m; Year 3 - £15.2m. There remains a chance those payments will increase as we enter a new TV cycle, but it will not be by much. Even if the 20 Premier League clubs vote in favour of increasing the equal share element of the Overseas TV revenue, this would only likely amount to an additional £5m in year 1, £4m in year 2 and £2m in year 3.

That should say in the Premier League - not the case in the EFLChester Perry wrote: ↑Tue Aug 02, 2022 7:54 pm

Have you got a link to how this works. I was talking to a friend who is a Hull fan about it the other day.Chester Perry wrote: ↑Tue Aug 02, 2022 7:54 pmIf the OP is asking about parachute payments, I answered the question on another thread

Not really, Leeds complained about it for years, even threatening to refuse to participate in televised games as the vast majority of their away games we broadcast live, inconveniencing their fans and providing dismal income for the club, as we are seeing it is more likely clubs in receipt of parachutes also tend to have away games broadcast more.
here are a couple of reports that seem to affirm what I said above

Cheers. It does look to be a bit of a secret.Chester Perry wrote: ↑Wed Aug 03, 2022 2:04 pmNot really, Leeds complained about it for years, even threatening to refuse to participate in televised games as the vast majority of their away games we broadcast live, inconveniencing their fans and providing dismal income for the club, as we are seeing it is more likely clubs in receipt of parachutes also tend to have away games broadcast more.

We were talking about whether there is a base fee and you only start to get the TV money after 6 or 10 games or whatever (I seem to remember this was the case) but there doesn't seem to be any reference to this.

Plus £2.5m equal split from the EFL TV deal according to Kieran Maguire on the Examiner Live link you providedChester Perry wrote: ↑Tue Aug 02, 2022 7:54 pmIf the OP is asking about parachute payments, I answered the question on another thread

"The clubs that are not in receipt of parachute payments get about £4.5m in a normal year," he said.
"It's all been slightly impacted by Covid, but it's £4.5m from the Premier League in what is referred to as solidarity payments."
"All clubs then get around £2.5m from the EFL's own TV deal and then there are slight top ups based on the number of times you are shown live."

Re: How much TV/broadcasting money do we get in the Championship?
No base threshold at all in regards to match fees - I seem to remember a mention of a minimum number of non playoff games for Leagues 1 and 2 but is is a really small number and this season will likely see Derby prominent
As for the secrecy, the EFL seems as bad, if not worse than the Premier League - it has been 3 years since the Premier League last published end of season total payments to it's members

I will be interested to see if Kieran has got that slightly wrong - I suspect/believe Parachute clubs do not get the £2.5m from the EFL's TV deal eitherab1882 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 04, 2022 10:11 amPlus £2.5m equal split from the EFL TV deal according to Kieran Maguire on the Examiner Live link you providedUTC
