Geographically makes the same amount of sense that Burnley does. Maybe he grew up supporting Stoke?Stalbansclaret wrote: ↑Mon Aug 01, 2022 11:13 amMy Stoke supporting chum seems fairly convinced they will be taking Liam Delap on loan. I find this surprising notwithstanding his dad's history there.
Either way, we need striker reinforcements imminently.

City will send him to a club that will suit their philosophy and style of play, plus one that can guarantee him a certain amount of game time
In Kompany we have a manager who fits all of that criteria

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
Update #Churlinov: @BurnleyOfficial is interested. A transfer is unlikely as of now because...
a) Offer too low
b) VfB plans with Churlinov. Had a good training camp
c) Churlinov sees the chance to play at @VfB, therefore does not want to leave

25 yr old winger, Antwerp bought him from Genk for about € 3M
Former Belgian U21
Speedy and technically gifted out and out attacking winger (not really a wingback).
Rangers were interested in him a few seasons ago, and had a loan spell in Holland (PEC Zwolle)
Took him a while to gain a place in the team, and he's not renowned for his work rate in training - that's something VK will certainly be aware of and can be taken care of.
Not a prolific goalscorer, but his assists have been improving and he's also scored a couple of screamers.
Good value for around 4M
Providing some good (physical and mental) coaching he could certainly do a job for us, and his best years have normally yet to come

Great thanks and sorry to miss, very kind of you and interesting.
Was impressed with Bastien and obviously Cullen at Hudds, the players from Belgium have been keen to remind it's a decent, physical league so could be a really productive shopping area for us given we can compete on wages while we have the parachute cash.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
The one thing I saw mentioned on a couple of the Belgian websites, was that occasionally he can be frustrating by holding onto the ball a little too long in attacking situations but generally 99% would be very sorry to see him leave which is a big plus point for us.Belgianclaret wrote: ↑Mon Aug 01, 2022 1:51 pmI think I already posted something on him. I know you've mentioned players before but having seen the opening game and with McNeil gone and Cornet thought to be following him, can you think of anybody else in the Jupiler Pro League you see us going for?

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
Saw the link to Cabral which was from a Sporting Lisbon French fans site so seems halfway to reliable.
He went to Lazio on loan last season but didn’t play much, is the same age as all the others we are going after, and is a fast left winger type with decent shooting ability. Sounds to me like if he changed his name to Maxwel he’d slot seamlessly in.

Looks to have been injured for a while before Christmas so didn't play that much last season. As you say he went to Lazio but spent most of his time there as an unused sub.CrosspoolClarets wrote: ↑Mon Aug 01, 2022 2:07 pmSaw the link to Cabral which was from a Sporting Lisbon French fans site so seems halfway to reliable.

The one thing I noticed is he very rarely plays more than an hour, he's been on the bench a lot but when he starts he is often subbed part way into the second half.
Trusted to play in the Champions League though.

Some Besiktas twitter pages think he's still going to them (where have we heard this before?), they've had a reported interest for a few weeks but thought the asking price was too high.

A quick bit of research on YouTube, tells me Jovane Cabral is just what need!... A big strong bully boy with a big backside but also an eye for goal and looks to be technically decent as well.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
High potential but inconsistent, has not yet made the break through as a key player, was still being used as an impact sub more often than not. On the other hand very little vision at his former club, they just buy a load of players each year without a plan so that has also affected his development. Needs a good manager and will find that in big Vince.GrahamBranchsPerm wrote: ↑Mon Aug 01, 2022 1:35 pmHow is he generally rated / perceived over there Belgiumclaret?

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
Vitinho did well for Cercle. He’s a very useful squad player since he can play in 4 positions, right and left wing back and right and left winger. I don’t expect him to be a key player but a very useful squad player who will do a job when called upon. Cullen obviously and Bastien are the ones for me who will be key players. Bastien is a really smart piece of business. I am hoping Vinny also will go for Selemani from Kortrijk. A very good attacking winger, nr 10 who wants a move to a bigger club and will not cost too much.GrahamBranchsPerm wrote: ↑Mon Aug 01, 2022 3:01 pmThanks Cohiba

Feedback from Benfica supporting mate on Cabral.
"I like him a lot. Think of a bulky, faster, stronger Nani with less technique, plays on both wings".

Seems all we are talking about are wingers.
I'd like to see another good CM-playmaker added to our squad besides a number 9

Going off the previous games we arent really using wingers.Would wingers then be used in them CAM roles or maybe a 10?
Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
Kompany had a winger or two in his Anderlecht squad. It can still be 4-2-2-2 but the winger in the team starts a bit wider. Pretty much where Costelloe was positioned on Friday in more a 4-2-3-1.

Cork, Cullen, Brownhill and Bastien were certainly an impressive unit on Friday , but who would step in if one or two of those got injured ? ( Im discounting Westwood as we dont know when he will be fit ) Phillips was on the bench but it seems we are prepared to let him go out on loan again.GrahamBranchsPerm wrote: ↑Mon Aug 01, 2022 3:32 pmPersonally feel we are pretty covered in Mid, even better when Westy back.

Hi, I am from Brecht (born in Wilrijk but moved there over years after getting married). I don’t know Belgiumburnley. I did a lot of ground hopping as a student in the early nineties and felt in love with Burnley being an underdog type of person and seeing them in a cup tie against Liverpool. People were extremely friendly and took me along. I tend to have a natural disliking of the bigger commercial clubs so Burnley is a good fit.Belgianclaret wrote: ↑Mon Aug 01, 2022 3:17 pmHi Cohiba, whereabouts you based in Belgium?

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
I know people always say YouTube videos this and that but Cabral looks like he has the attributes to be really really good in the championship. He’s quick, strong but also possesses what looks like an excellent right foot. Always a good recipe when a quick winger is also a set piece taker like that.
Don’t think he’ll come cheap, there was some huge clubs after him before last season in which he had an injury and so a quiet campaign.

Wondering how fluid that 4 is Random, in terms of squad members who can also do a job....
And who can only go into the front '2' (Barnes / JR / Twine).
The squad wingers? Vitnho / Twine etc?
Unsure, need to see the system more.
Anyway, apologies if this is moving too far from rumours.

I live in the vicinity of Bruges. My Mum is a Northern lass though, so I grew up supporting Burnley from a very young age, and usually travel a few times a year to 't Turf to watch some games with my uncle. Belgiumburnley (Frederick) is from Lokeren. I was planning to meet him at the final in Wembley in 2009, but the battery of my mobile phone broke down the same day.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
I think he will want any wide attacking player to play in a similar role to Costello last Friday…..coming in from the flank but supporting our centre forward where he can.
It’s all pretty fluid as we can see from the Huddersfield game - Barnes was dropping off and laying the ball off leaving wide open spaces for our full backs to run into and then it’s down to the other players like Costello, Twine or any of these guys to get in the box as quickly as they can to get onto the full backs crosses or pull backs.
It worked a treat on Friday and we had an incredible amount of touches in their box - especially the first half and was largely down to the fluidity and spaces being left down the wings.
System needs pace and energy though and you can tell in the type of player he is looking at
