Glad it’s finally sorted. Some cracking goals for us and brought the feel good factor into a dreadful season.

Re: ARTICLE: Cornet remains a Claret after move to West Ham
He was pretty much the only highlight of last season for me.
Think this is a good deal all round though.

All the best to him.
Not as convinced by him as others, but he scored some fantastic goals for us and it’ll be interesting to see how he gets on at West Ham.

Re: ARTICLE: Cornet remains a Claret after move to West Ham
Best of luck Max, it was a short but eventful Burnley career, and he's one who definitely does deserve to remain at the top table.
Now for his sale to fund the remaining 3/4 signings we need to cement our promotion credentials.

Always a good sign when a player goes we sign one back to counteract (soften the blow) who’s replacing vyds though

Re: ARTICLE: Cornet remains a Claret after move to West Ham
I have come to expect our best players to leave once we joined the Championship, not helped by the wage cuts. But time to move on and bring in players , like we already have, who bring a new dynamism to the club. With relegation, and 14 players leaving, I thought I would be really down. Instead I am mega excited

You had me with the headline, I thought I was gonna see the word ''collapsed'' at the end.

Good luck to him.
Came in and gave it his best despite the injuries and interruptions like ANC.
Gave us a chance of surviving with his goals.
Has conducted himself well since relegation, hasn't been a sulker and goes with my best wishes.

Re: ARTICLE: Cornet remains a Claret after move to West Ham
He was a bit of enigma for me. Scored some fantastic goals and was our leading goal scorer. But his overall contribution was average, seemed to struggle to keep possession, appeared to be behind the flow of the game at times and needed to be 'prompted' more than a few times on his role in the team. But I do think that West Ham have the makings of a decent Premier league player if Moyes can manage him accordingly.

I wish him well. His attitude was great and there were some real moments of quality. We were never quite sure what to do with him but neither were OL. Hope Wrst Ham find the square hole into which he will fit

A huge personality who lifted the place both on and off the pitch. He could be erratic but I do think a manager like Moyes could get a more consistent tune out of him. His goals nearly kept us up and he never hid. Conducted himself very professionally and goes with my best wishes.

Very talented and very quick at getting into spaces, however one of the most fragile players to wear our shirt. One good tackle on him and he would limp off and miss several games. Good business for us

Re: ARTICLE: Cornet remains a Claret after move to West Ham
I think he would have excelled in our team this season but don’t blame him for wanting to play in the Prem. obviously worked for him - putting himself in the shop window with Burnley and getting noticed
Re: ARTICLE: Cornet remains a Claret after move to West Ham
Inevitable. But still disappointing. An excellent player. Would be more disappointing though if we weren't signing players. And we. So we look forward. All the best, Max.

BBC reports: "West Ham have signed Ivory Coast winger Maxwel Cornet from Burnley on a five-year contract for an undisclosed fee after paying his £17.5m release clause."
Thanks for your season with Burnley, Maxwel Cornet. I first saw you play at Southampton. You scored some great goals for Burnley. Good luck with West Ham - and playing in Europe.
Au Revoir.

Re: ARTICLE: Cornet remains a Claret after move to West Ham
That’s how to leave a football club. No problem whatsoever With anyone who wants to move on and stay at the top level, but there’s ways to do it and ways to conduct yourself while the deal goes through and Maxwell has showed how to go about it. Get your head down, crack on which is exactly what he’s done. Hope he does really well still only 25 it’s a chance to really kick on.

Re: ARTICLE: Cornet remains a Claret after move to West Ham
A real threat on his day but his time at TM was ephemeral punctuated with absences and for me would have been a luxury player in a 46 game Championship. Probably best suited to a EPL side with a big squad where they are not reliant on him to turn up like we were.
Re: ARTICLE: Cornet remains a Claret after move to West Ham
I wish him all the best. Very professional attitude. Unlike a certain Dutch chap that's left a very sour taste in my mouth.

Re: ARTICLE: Cornet remains a Claret after move to West Ham
Sad to see him go and shame we couldn’t have seen him in more games. I was hoping we could keep him or McNeil but probably unrealistic. Cornet was too good for the Championship but still not 100% convinced he would fit VK’s system that well. Let’s hope we now sign a decent striker as we really need one.

Re: ARTICLE: Cornet remains a Claret after move to West Ham
Very good player. Pleasure to watch him.
Behaved very professionally whilst here, scored some great goals and got the crowd excited whenever he got the ball in the final third. If the system and set up had suited him more, there would probably be less `exasperation`. Maybe it's because he only scored 9....
Good luck Maxi, all the best.

It was short and sweet.
Will never forget Leicester away on the coach down there. At 2 o clock when it was announced he was starting for the first time the coach erupted.
Ole ole ole ole Cornet.
A true fans favourite.

My favourite player in terms of a game changer, influence and style. Certain posters called him out for being “lazy” and only popping up at moments but he would have cost triple the amount we paid if he turned up every game. Got faith we’ll replace him with another good player for this league but this one hurts the most for me.

I thought because that became public knowledge, the release clause was voided?

Maxwel Cornet Farewell Thank you
Having signed, as expected, for another team in Claret & Blue, our Maxwel sends us all his final farewell.
Maxwel Cornet posts emotional message thanking Burnley family after sealing West Ham transfer
"I don't know where to start, I don't know who to thank first," said Cornet, writing on Instagram. "You gave me so much love, like one of yours, and you made me stronger thanks to your endless support.
"Thank you Burnley, thank you for all those crazy memories. I will remember this year my whole life. I'm so sad to see this club go down in the Championship but it deserves to be back in the Premier League, that's all I wish.
"Burnley is a big family who helped me to achieve one of my dreams: To play football in England. Thanks to you I know the English passion of football. To all the fans, employees, volunteers, all my team-mates, staff and the whole town. Burnley forever."

Re: ARTICLE: Cornet remains a Claret after move to West Ham
Still an enigma for me. Could score a worldie one week, be anonymous the next, get injured the week after. And repeat.
I'm still not sure if he's a winger, striker or something in between. I can remember him giving the ball away cheaply more than he would play a simple pass. I imagine he'd be quite frustrating in our new system, not doubting he'd score a good few goals though.
Still, some brilliant memories along the way. And he does seem like a nice guy. Conducted himself well although it always seemed inevitable he might leave. Hope he does well for himself and I'm glad he went to the dildo-funded Cockneys rather than to the Saudi's or the bin of a club that is Everton.

Trevor Steven was a International pick at the time. Played.a good number of times when the English national side was on its arse.

I’m devastated we don’t get to see him in this system
