I’m firmly of the opinion that had Maatsen not reacted in the manner that he did, then the Blackpool player would have only received a yellow card.

Agree, on first look I thought it was a really nasty one but on replays it was just deliberate and cynical so only a yellow for me. We're gonna miss Maatsen big time for next three games

One of them 3 will be the cup, which he wouldn’t have played anyway

Shocking and deliberate kick to the shins from the Blackpool player when a professional foul would have done. Clear red for both players.

Never had control, let some really blatant shoves and niggles go and as per Robbo, no way he shows a red there to the Blackpool player if Maatsen hadn't reacted.

Awful no control and ignored blatant fouls on Barnes and others going forward
His lack of control led to Blackpool doing what they liked and the inevitable sending off.
A natural reaction as Ian had no protection from this inept fool

He had a very good game overall, especially in allowing the physical aspect of the game to continue and not continually holding up play with soft decisions.
The exception to this was the Blackpool red card. Although it was a bad foul and a very clear yellow it was a tad harsh and, as already pointed out, mainly the result of Maatsen's retaliation.

I actually though Maatsen was going to get away with it. He used the ‘conferring with assistants’ method as an attempt of not receiving the abuse from the home fans to send him off.
Maatsen, an absolute plonker.

neither were red cards, just a cynical trip by the Blackpool lad to stop the counter attack. He took one for the team. Maatsen retaliates in anger and pushes the lad in the back. 2 Yellows for me

I’m abroad at the moment so can’t rate the ref cos I wasn’t there. But whenever I’ve seen him referee games over recent seasons in The Championship, I've noticed his lack of height and resemblance to Leonard Rossiter. He referees like a man with small man syndrome and how I would imagine Leonard Rossiter to.
Was Miss Jones his Fourth Official?

To be honest never been a fan of Stroud.
Yesterday until the sendings off I thought he had done well, tried to let the game flow, played advantage when he could.
Free kicks and throw ins taken from the correct place and made sure players went back to the place they should be taking throws from and in the first half went back and booked a Blackpool player after letting play go.
Let the first tackle go that should have been a foul, possibly missed a free kick when Barnes was pushed on the edge of the box, but apart from that hardly noticeable, which is a good sign.
Was it red possibly probably, could have gone either way, Maatsens red was deserved. So on that basis

He was OK, got vast majority of decisions correct.

Got a lot right including the obvious reds. Shame he missed about 5 fouls during the corner that allowed their 3rd

Thought he was fine. The Blackpool sending off is as blatant as they come, the sort of cynical foul that should see red more often. A trip I'd have more sympathy with but he took a proper swing at Maatsen. Maatsen was always going to go because referees always send off the player who retaliates. At least Stroud got rid of the antagonist too.

The biggest thing he didn't act on for me was the Barnes dive after rounding the keeper.
Elsewhere like has been said above not sure the Blackpool red would have been a red but for Maatsen's head gone moment.
Apart from that rightly or wrong his decision making was fairly consistent throughout.
