Should have added that it was chaotic at the security scanners at LBA. Just one body scanner operational, people jumping the queue for it and about a 10 minute separation from your belongings whilst you waited to go through it.

The MD of Manchester Airport has stood down

Not sure what difference it’ll make tbh
I bet she’s not flying back down south.

The last time I flew from Manchester before the pandemic it took 2 hours to get through security
Three years back took me well over an hour. Stansted is long too.

But airports have no choice, sadly.

It has just taken me exactly 7 minutes to get through T1 security this morning. They look to have massively improved things.

We travelled home from Paphos Cyprus on Wednesday. On arrival at the airport, we were informed the incoming flight was going to being delayed 90 mins. It was reportedly due to a shortage of baggage handlers, for loading the plane.
On arrival back at Manchester, we were informed by tannoy, Paphos passenger arrivals would be better completing a details form, then leaving the airport without our luggage, which they would deliver sometime next week. Or face waiting hours for the luggage.
It transpired, only 1 team of baggage handlers were unloading all flights into Terminal 2. After waiting 4 hours we got it.
Some people with young children were having a torrid time with tired out toddlers, had to wait, as they needed their child buggies, then facing hours on the road driving home.
I’d only hand luggage as my case of brand new designer clothes (including Bfc Polo shirts) was lost on the coach journey to the hotel. I’d 3 days in the same clothes, before ending up buying some at a couple of charity shops. So it’s likely some foreigner waking around Paphos wearing my new Bfc Polo shirts.😒

Travelled through Manchester last Thursday 6:30am. Against my wishes we arrived 4hrs early, JET2 desk was pre tagging bags and the belt soon open. Security was deserted however they only had one scanner working and weirdly ran out of trays for a short period 🙄 Friends came through later and it took about an hour to get through. Coming back around lunch, no queues at security and bags were pretty fast. Pot luck at minute I guess.

My wife is travelling from Manchester this afternoon - so we will see what the later flights are like.

Jet2 have their own staff for everything apart from security, other airlines rely on 3rd parties for check in, baggage handlers etc. Touch wood I've never had any problems when flying with jet2.

Seriously hope its not like that later. Due to land at 4pm and have to sort the family out before getting over for the match.

I think it's very hit and miss at the moment. Flew from LBA at May half term and very long Q at Jet2 check in. Security Q was ridiculous and went all the way outside along terminal building. It was only the airlines taking passengers out of the Q an hour before departure that made it work

Flew ftom LBA again in early August and it seemed back to normal, both departing and on arrival were fine.

I would avoid LBA every time, I realise that it’s miles away for most Clarets, but Newcastle airport is brilliant.
