He should be playing until told otherwise by his club
Nixon implied earlier when asked about how interest in the two Metz players that it is looking unlikely now. Specifically he said:

'Need more than 10p for that. Not sure they will pay the money needed for one never mind two.'

Kouyate is back in the Metz squad for tomorrow, looks like we have moved on
That’s unless he goes awol again ;)

If he plays you’d have to imagine it’s over. Shame as he’d have been a great signing.

Not surprised there is interest in Brownhill but you’d hope we can keep hold of him for this season.

Well Leicester play hard ball on transfers - al la Fofana - so we shoud quote them the same price as him 70 million. The've got it!!!

Quote them something stupid, and if they pay it, then its win/win

£25 million would be unreal

We can accept whatever we want, but his value to us in winning games and finding a replacement before the end of the window has to be taken into account. He’s worth £60m+ to us at the moment.

Not sure it would be a win for us, even for 25m. I highly doubt we would find a player (with the few days we have left) who is currently as influential as Brownhill to our team, even for big money.

I think if we receive £25 million for Brownhill its unreal business and we can replace him (I don't want him to go as I think he's far too good for this level )

If Josh keeps playing like he has this season, his value in January will go up between £5m-£10m. Hanging on to him makes a positive statement-from his side I am not sure he would start regularly for a team in the PL

Yes I agree Lancaster, but the window ends in just over 36 hours so not much time to find a replacement. We'd need one lined up before we could let Josh go.
I'd like another centre back, but apart from that I think we're ok until January.

Whether we sell Brownhill may well depend in part on whether his contract option in 2024 is in his favour or ours, and whether the league we are in has any bearing on that.

If we have the option to 2025, there's no imperative to sell. If we don't, the financial reality is that it is highly unlikely his value will ever be higher than it is right now after a hugely positive start to this season. Perhaps January if he keeps his form up, but next summer it drops sharply.

The same applies to Taylor, although the values we'd be talking about are probably sufficiently lower that we are more willing to discount the issue.

I sincerely hope we don't sell him, but I'd be preparing for the worst.

Southampton and Leicester are pretty stacked in midfield like he would be back up at both teams, wouldn’t be a good move for him, unless Leicester are selling Maddison late on in the window

I’ve backed Pace so far with the sales made and fees received, but even considering selling JB at this point would be criminal in my eyes (the player doesn’t actually want to leave).

Good job the football league world as a source is s****.

Josh Brownhill at £25 m is a joke
How many more times are we going to give our star players away .?We keep Josh as he's a top player and our natural replacement for Westy. His goals will get us promoted

We'd be daft to sell Brownhill, even for £25m, we definitely need to retain him for this season anyway, if as looks likely he bags 15 or so this campaign, but we don't get promoted he'll still be in demand next summer,

Flogging him now would suggest we aren't serious about making an instant return to the PL in my view.

Can’t imagine why we’d reduce the fee if he was doing well.

Knowing Wout he’ll probably be looking for a better gig than Besiktas if he has a good year there.
They might reduce the fee if Besiktas agreed to sign him now rather than at the end of the season.

Spice has pretty much nailed it

We are a club that is no longer in the premier league, and even if we were, every player has his price

I do not want Brownhill to go as a fan, but as a realist, if we get £25 million for him (and we can ask for more quite easily) then its a good deal from a financial point of view

He's been incredible in the first few games and is completely integral to how this side plays but money talks

James Maddison went to Leicester for 20m after a season of scoring 14 league goals. On current form I reckon Brownhill can top that goal-wise, and 4 years on from the Maddison transfer, the fees have inflated even more. We also need to factor in Josh's worth to our promotion chances, as well as how near we are to deadline day. Every team we try to negotiate with will know that a) we have a position we desperately need to fill and b) we have £££ burning a hole in our pocket. We'll be in a seller's market, and we won't get good value for money.

On that basis, 25m isn't anywhere near enough.

Why do people believe what's on twitter?

Unless it's from a reliable source, Brownhill rumour isn't, then ignore. The more you talk about the rubbish they put out there, the more they do it. It's simply made up nonsense.

Brownhill looks brilliant this season but if we sell him for £25 million and his replacement has already been signed in Twine, it's great business. Hope we don't do it though.

If we got £25m and £20m was reinvested into the team, I'd sell. No chance of that money being reinvested so it's not even a discussion worth having, wouldn't benefit the team at all. If money was reinvested, I'll sell Taylor and Roberts too.

ilias Chair, Brereton-Diaz and Kouyate in.

That level of reinvestment just wouldn't ever happen tho

If it contributes to costing us promotion and we therefore miss out on at least £100 million in revenue, is it still a good deal?

I get that you don't like the current owners mate, but we are currently in sixth place and have won two games out of six

It is impossible to say now that selling Brownhill will cost us promotion, and you are far too sensible a poster to go down that route!

I don't want him to go, I think he's a cut above this level but he's got two years left on this contract (as Spice says we might have control of that extra year, but he might as well)

He's never going to be worth as much as he is now from a purely financial point of view, and like Fofana and Gordan and Anthony, we can ask (and probably get) far more than he's actually worth

That has to be factored in when you are a club in the championship, whether we like it or not

You can never do the cause or effect like that though - certainly not in August. The pertinent point though is the obvious - our finances mean we've got to be cautious about gambling right now, and turning down £25 million (say) on the basis it *might* help us to promotion is a gamble.

Buying players is if anything less of a gamble than refusing to sell them: players you buy can be an asset, but players you choose not to sell are already an asset, and as contracts run down their value depreciates accordingly.

We're not realistically going to be able to pull in a replacement before the window shuts, unless VK has one up his sleeve as his "unexpected"

That's my main concern.

Why?

Again, I don't want him to go, but I don't see how the same financial pressures are not on every club that isn't in the PL

Not quite because I refuse to believe any club would pay £25m for Brownhill, he's been immense this season and this new role suits him at this level, really average in the PL last season though.

I really hope Brownhill stays, and if he goes it’s for something in silly category, but the way the club have gone about business this summer means I expect they have targets and a contingency for any player that gets sold.

Firstly, Chair, Diaz and Kouyate would cost 35m, secondly Diaz would not join us and has PL clubs after him.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION

Looking at the way Brownhill has been leading and engaging with the fans this year, it feels unlikely to me that he wants to leave or we’d sell such an important player. Agree with others that to do so would be risking a promotion push and that could be far more costly than the potential fees involved.

What I can’t understand though is how all the attacking players like Twine, Churlinov & now Zaroury fit in alongside Brownhill and from

Will be nervous until I see the team sheet tonight now!

Firstly, Chair, Diaz and Kouyate would cost 35m, secondly Diaz would not join us and has PL clubs after him.
Well that's my point, I said I'd sell Taylor and Roberts too if the fees were reinvested. We're never gonna see that level of reinvestment so it's a non starter, like selling Brownhill should be a non starter.

Nixon has said all summer, Bburn looking for £15m, so far with 2 days left he's been linked everywhere and nobody has put up the cash. He can be linked to Barcelona, if they aren't prepared to stump up the cash it doesn't matter.

There's a few players that can potentially take us back up, he's one of them, no way he should be leaving the club, not at any price. And furthermore I don't believe he would want to leave, it's very obvious he's as happy as a pig in s**t to coin a phrase, we should very quickly put a not for sale sign up !

If Fabrizio or Nixon was saying Brownhill is going to a PL club, you would have cause for concern. This is a good story for those posting the rumours, but personally I am not taking this seriously

Be a worry if we don’t bring in at least one striker as well as a centre half.
