Re: Match Thread Burnley v Millwall
In control but frustrating.
Muric made a great save and couple good long balls but his positioning still looks suspect, coming out and getting stranded once and making a punch clear that he then flapped a little to get back into position. Proper maverick.
Roberts still not really doing much.
Gudmundsson been great probably our best player.
Tella great touches but I don't know if he's being greedy or just not looking but been slow/failed to release it several times.
Cullen and Cork really keeping us tidy.
Jay looking good again.
Been a bit more sideways than Wigan in general and less effective as such.
Officials an absolute joke, nothing like enough stoppage time and Millwall should be on ten men. They're constantly leaving stuff in.
Lot of positives, lot of control, but no clear cut chances made besides Gudmundsson's free kick and we do look like we might be caught out by an awkward ball onto the edge of a packed area. I'd consider making a brave call and swapping Tella for Bastien/Churlinov. Maybe even Roberts for Lowton for his deep crossing ability which would add a different weapon.

Re: Match Thread Burnley v Millwall
Complete and utter farce.
What precedent does that send? Come to Burnley kick and waste time all half and get away with 1 minute added on.
Joke

Millwall should be down to 9 men and 1 minute added time is an absolute joke, the ref has allowed Millwall to do what they like and control the authority in this game, the refereeing standard in this country is shocking.

Not as bad as Hull, but the time-wasting is ridiculous
What's the point pointing at your watch and then not actually doing anything?

Referee had a shocker there. How much more can he let them get away with? Good first half, their keeper made a couple of decent saves. Don't look as dangerous as we did against Wigan, but we have plenty of options on the bench to mix it up.

Re: Match Thread Burnley v Millwall
Well done with the booking on V Sammer.
They're a dirty side, this Milwall team. As usual.
As someone further up the thread said, hard to believe they'll end up with all 11 on the pitch but it won't be anytime near when it should happen. They're even harassing the ref as he walks off. I think they know he's a bit reluctant.

Roberts really needs to be doing more. He's offering nothing.

Re: Match Thread Burnley v Millwall
Tempo up and down but very dominant. It feels like we could get 3…if we can get 1.
Muric great, great kicking (particularly the long ball through to Tella) and a good save from their free kick but again, needlessly daft decision making at times.

good, bit meh 10 minutes from time, will we see sub's before long, not sure why Brownhill on corners& free kicks though, think he'd be better in the middle

I do laugh when people on here complain about time wasting given the antics we saw under SD for several years. And we weren’t even good at it!

Re: Match Thread Burnley v Millwall
An excellent summary. Pretty much exactly what I was thinking. Roberts has lumped the ball aimlessly a few times. Tella looking different but it's not quite coming off for him. We have options on the bench; a welcome change for us.spt_claret wrote: ↑Tue Aug 30, 2022 8:35 pmIn control but frustrating.

Re: Match Thread Burnley v Millwall
For me it’s not so much the time wasting, it’s the pitiful refereeing, he pointed at his watch several times to suggest he’s clocking it then adds on 1 minute, joke.box_of_frogs wrote: ↑Tue Aug 30, 2022 8:39 pmI do laugh when people on here complain about time wasting given the antics we saw under SD for several years. Re: Match Thread Burnley v Millwall
We look a bit slow and predictable. Millwall running clock down. Fairly comfortable for the visitors so far. Think VK will change things for sure. Cullen seems a bit wasted playing almost as a left back. Millwall certainly winning the physical battles. Cresswell should have gone for sure

One of their cb’s to go in 2nd half. Need to be more direct, run at them, 2 of them are booked at the back!

I was embarrassed by Pope sometimes too and thought he was very lucky to get away with things
It's really annoying when a team is trying to actually win a game of football, given that's what they're actually playing

Can someone help me out and tell me who the second commentator is on Clarets+? Obviously an ex player but I can’t work it out.

JayRod waited for it to come across his body and poor touch made the angle very difficult on his left foot. A nice move. Cork with a delightful ball to Tella to run down the left wing.
Started 2nd half brightly.

It's like Vitinho is piggy in the middle. He keeps getting into space on the left and just never given the ball.

Cooper with a very rugged off the ball challenge. I've done it thousands of times. Good defending.
Brownhill effort from the edge of the area. Tame in the end.

Wouldn't have subbed Johann unless he's not fully fit,but Benson did vey well with that ball in.
Tella for Churlinov or Bastien for me he's been a little wasteful.

Manuel important for their break, too! Fell over under pressure and off they went. Good tracking back by Taylor and co.
